Brad Stein

Prior to Merus, Brad spent over seven years at Google where he created and implemented the playbook for the successful integration of all acquisitions, including YouTube, Android and dozens of others. Since that time, he has held a number of finance and operational leadership roles at high-growth startups, including Applied Semantics (acquired by Google), MoPub (acquired by Twitter), Good Eggs, and most recently Checkr, where he oversaw and developed G&A functions and played an instrumental role in fundraising. Brad also previously worked at Deloitte in Assurance Services. Brad completed his undergraduate studies in economics at Claremont McKenna College. Hometown: Denver, CO

David Rangel

David was previously a Director at Google Research, where he led teams incubating new AI-enabled products. Prior to Google, he was COO at Iterable, part of the Merus portfolio, where he helped the company grow from 5 to 160 employees and reach tens of millions of dollars in ARR. David was also a member of the Corporate Strategy Group at Microsoft, where he worked with other Merus partners on the company's most important strategic initiatives. David holds an MBA from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business and degrees in computer science and economics from Northwestern University. Hometown: Mexico City, MX

Denmark West

Job Titles:

Denmark previously worked in Corporate Development at Microsoft, where he drove joint ventures with Softbank and Qualcomm, supported the incubation of Windows Media and Xbox, and led strategic initiatives around cloud and open source software. He was also Chief of Staff of Windows during the DOJ trials. Denmark was previously EVP of Viacom Media Networks and President of BET Digital Media before founding Connectivity Ventures, an early-stage fund. Denmark advises the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA), the USO, which supports US military veterans, and Culture Shift Labs, an organization that supports diversity efforts among entrepreneurs, executives and investors. He holds an AB in applied mathematics from Harvard University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. Hometown: Detroit, MI

Erin Lockhart

Prior to joining Merus, Erin led public relations for Cisco's Web team, where she was responsible for strategic partnerships with companies like Facebook and Google. She was responsible for the public launch of Cisco + Google Station, a global partnership to connect the next billion internet users. For the past 15 years, Erin has worked with high-growth startups, including Merus portfolio company NextRoll, on marketing and PR strategy. She was also a member of the Corporate team at Ketchum, where she was a communications advisor to clients like JPMorgan. Erin completed her undergraduate studies in journalism at Miami University. Salman Ullah

Before co-founding Merus, Salman was Vice President of Corporate Development at Google, where he spent a number of years managing the global team responsible for all of Google's acquisitions and investments. Prior to Google, Salman spent more than seven years at Microsoft in several roles, including General Manager of Corporate Strategy and Managing Director of Corporate Development. Earlier in his career, he was an Engagement Manager at McKinsey where he focused on the tech and consumer goods sectors. Salman was a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in physics at the University of Chicago and The University of Virginia. He holds an undergraduate degree in physics from The University of Oxford, and a Ph.D. in theoretical physics from Stanford University. Hometown: London, UK

Sean Dempsey

Before co-founding Merus, Sean was Principal of Corporate Development at Google, where he was responsible for acquisitions and investments including Android and YouTube. Prior to Google, he spent over six years at Microsoft as a member of the Corporate Development team. In addition to M&A, Sean led the original team that drove Microsoft's living room strategy, which eventually became Xbox. Before joining Microsoft, he spent two years in tech M&A at Deutsche Morgan Grenfell in Menlo Park and was a Research Analyst at Jennings Group in San Francisco. Sean is a board member of the Peninsula Open Space Trust and is a Trustee of the Hillbrook School in Los Gatos. Sean holds BAs in economics and French from Claremont McKenna College.
