Brian Raymond - VP

You are here: Home / Our Company / Management Team / Brian Raymond Brian Raymond was appointed Vice President, Life Sciences and Portfolio Operations in April 2023 after serving as Director of Facilities, Life Sciences since June 2010. Brian is responsible for the firm's office and life science operations and their teams. As the Head of Life Sciences, he is responsible for all life science projects including development, acquisitions, and alterations of existing assets. As a LEED accredited professional Brian has delivered ground up LEED certified buildings as well as LEED certified commercial interior improvements. Brian was invited to participate in the Laney College Best Center and the California Institute for Energy and Environment's pilot program and was in the first class to receive certification as a High-Performance Building Operations Professional. Brian started his career in commercial real estate in 1997 with Spieker Properties, Equity Office in 2001 and then joined McCarthy Cook in 2007. Brian is a proud trade school graduate from SCC's Mechanical Electrical Technology in HVAC&R. Brian's unique skillset allows him to design, build, and operate office and life science facilities at the highest level.

Bruce Simonsen

Bruce has hands on experience and a specialty in MEP systems having been on teams that built some of the largest and most complicated projects in the Bay Area such as the Transbay Terminal. Bruce collaborates with General Manager, Jane Echlin, as the lead team member responsible for the successful execution of mission critical capital improvement projects, management of tenant improvements and optimal physical operations of this franchise asset. Bruce holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Iowa State University, an MBA from the University of Phoenix and is certified LEED AP. Bruce has spent over 20 years in the construction and commercial contracting industry as a successful design-build mechanical engineer and construction project managerincluding projects in Iowa, Colorado, and California.

Chase joins us from a nationally recognized Real Estate Investment Trust, Regency Centers, where he was responsible for overseeing development and construction of large-scale, urban mixed-use projects. Chase brings 25 years of real estate experience in multiple disciplines as a General Contractor, Development and Construction Manager. His real estate career has been split 50/50, between ground-up development, construction, and tenant improvement projects. Chase worked closely with Regency's leasing, operations, financial services, and executive teams where his construction cost estimating, and critical path scheduling were utilized in underwriting and investment decisions. Real estate development, engineering and construction have been his family's business since World War II. Chase has led innovative and environmentally sustainable projects and loves challenges and problem solving. Chase holds a BA in History from the University of Utah and an MBA with Real Estate focus from the University of California, Irvine. Chase continues McCarthy Cook's tradition of harnessing innovative expertise that brings in-house entitlement experience, design innovation, cost estimating, construction, and development as part of McCarthy Cook's "Workplace Visioneering."

Dewain Campbell

You are here: Home / Our Company / Management Team / Dewain Campbell Dewain "D" Campbell joined McCarthy Cook & Co. ("MCC") in 2016 as Director, Construction & Development. Dewain brings 30 plus years of construction and development experience as the Co-founder of Camco Construction Companies which he co-founded in 1976 with his brother in Salt Lake City, Utah. Camco's business philosophy was, "Promise Big…Deliver Bigger," a mantra Dewain lives by-in all things-to this day. Dewain served as President/CEO/Chairman of the Camco construction companies with offices in Salt Lake City, Las Vegas and Orange County, California. The Camco companies completed over $2 billion (over $10 BB, in today's construction dollars) of quality construction projects, in the thirteen western states. Specifically including office, multi-family housing, retail, industrial, healthcare, gaming, and hospitality. After two of years of "early retirement," Dewain was recruited to join MCC to bring new creativity, technical capability and value-add construction practices and bidding processes to MCC projects. Dewain brings 40 years of intricate construction knowledge to MCC's construction and development management with the mantra to "make it better." Dewain graduated from the Harvard Owner/President Management Program at the Harvard Business School and has a B.S. in Construction Business Management from the University of California, Davis. Dewain is a member of the Young Presidents Organization, Newport Beach Little League Board of Directors, President and Past Chairman of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Orange County, Junior Achievement of Utah State Board of Directors, March of Dimes National Board Member, Pilot with the Orange County Sheriff's Air Squadron, and member of the Orange County Sheriff's Department Board of Advisors. Dewain and his wife, Jenny are parents to seven children, and grandparents to nine. His interests include parenting and developing quality children, coaching youth baseball, flying, snowboarding, scuba diving, mountaineering, hunting, fishing, travel, mentoring youth-in-need, charitable work and fund raising for worthy causes. He maintains an FAA Pilots License with instrument and multi-engine ratings.

Founded in 1995 by Tom McCarthy and Edward Cook as the exclusive office joint venture partner of Blackstone Real Estate Advisors in the west, MCC invests in major office, mixed use, life science and technology properties in the major metropolitan markets of the western U.S. MCC is a disciplined investor and vertically integrated real estate operating company. Martin Jack Martin joined the McCarthy Cook team on Thursday February 15th as Vice President, Asset Management & Acquisitions in the Orange County office. Jack brings more than 13 years of experience to MCC as our asset management lead and acquisitions team member. Jack comes with expertise in strategic asset management, leasing, property operations, due diligence, and capital markets originations and underwriting. He has overseen the management of office, industrial and data center portfolios comprising over 3 million SF, has transacted over 100 leases across eight markets, and originated $4 billion of debt and equity originations. Jack comes to MCC from Rising Realty Partners where as asset manager he had key roles in asset management, acquisitions underwriting and lender relations. He began his career in commercial real estate in 2010 in the commercial finance group of Draper and Kramer Corporation. Jack relocated to California in 2018 joining BKM Capital Partners' multi-tenant industrial portfolio management team. Jack has a BS degree in Business from Miami University (Ohio) where he was a finance major. Jack will be responsible for global asset management, lender and investor relations. We look forward to his contributions to our growth through acquisitions, particularly with new asset classes where Jack brings a wealth of knowledge.

She moved into development and real estate management when she moved to San Francisco in 1999 and has managed mixed use retail and office properties in San Francisco, San Mateo and Palo Alto. She is very familiar with master associations, homeowner associations and navigating complex ownership structures as well as the many aspects of management, development, leasing and construction management. She joined McCarthy Cook in March 2017 as the General Manager of China Basin.

Mitchell Lauren joined the McCarthy Cook team in February 2014 as the Team Coordinator prior to her transition to property management, where she was responsible for working directly with the Co-Presidents in both the Costa Mesa and El Segundo offices. Lauren joined the MET Management Team as Senior Associate in July of 2016. She is responsible for day to day building operations and all tenant relations including move-ins/move-outs, responding to tenant requests and assisting with any and all necessary coordination. Lauren also assists with property financials and monthly reporting including invoice approvals and budget variance analysis. Though she has transitioned to the Management Team, Lauren continues to works very closing with the MCC corporate team handling McCarthy Cook & Co. hiring needs. Lauren graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Social Sciences, and a Master's degree in Education. Prior to joining McCarthy Cook, Lauren was a homeschool teacher who had transitioned her career into staffing.

Prior to joining McCarthy Cook, Michael worked at Cushman & Wakefield, Voit Real Estate Services and the Trammell Crow Company, emphasizing both leasing and sales representation for office users and institutional landlord clients. During his 20-year career, Michael has successfully represented over 15,000,000 square feet of premiere office listing assignments throughout Southern California, while effectively negotiating over $700 million worth of real estate transactions. Michael has faithfully represented institutional owners and corporations in the leasing and sales of office properties with over 20 years of industry experience in both Orange and Los Angeles counties. Prior to joining the McCarthy Cook team, Phoebe received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from University of California, Merced and started her own company, On PAR Consulting. As an independent contractor, Phoebe provided Executive Assistant services to several small businesses in Marin County including Sunrise Home, Suiter Business Builders, and her father's painting company, Ross Painting.

Richard B. Hayes

He is responsible for the leasing and marketing of the 900,000 square foot China Basin project in the Mission Bay submarket of San Francisco. Prior to joining McCarthy Cook, Richard spent six years with Equity Office Properties leasing Class A office product in the Peninsula, East Bay, North Bay and San Jose submarkets where he completed 1,700,00 square feet of lease transactions and was involved in 1.,600,000 square feet of acquisitions and 1,500,000 square feet of dispositions. Prior to Equity Office, Richard performed corporate services at both Cushman & Wakefield and CB Richard Ellis providing services for clients such as Fritz Companies and DuPont. Richard started his real estate career as a broker in San Francisco with Colliers International. Cumulatively, Richard has completed over 5,000,000 square feet of lease transactions representing both corporate tenants and institutional real estate owners.

Prior to joining the McCarthy Cook team, Rose worked at Cushman & Wakefield, and prior to that she held positions with RED Development and Block and Company. Rose has a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from the University of Missouri and a Masters in Accounting from New England College. You are here: Home / Our Company / Management Team / Stephen J. Campion Stephen Campion is responsible for all management and financial reporting for McCarthy Cook & Co. and the projects it manages. These responsibilities include oversight of project accountants, project cash management, joint venture and lender compliance, annual audits, insurance, property taxes and company administration. Additionally, Mr. Campion oversees development construction accounting and budgeting for the various McCarthy Cook properties. Mr. Campion joined McCarthy Cook & Co. in 2000 from Insignia Financial Group/Insignia /ESG, where he was the Director of Accounting for the Western Region. In this capacity Mr. Campion oversaw over 75 accounting personnel in California, Arizona and Oregon. Earlier, Mr. Campion was the Controller for City Centre Development, a Los Angeles mixed-use developer. Prior to joining City Centre, Mr. Campion was an audit manager for Deloitte & Touche. Mr. Campion is a CPA, licensed real estate broker and has an undergraduate degree in accounting from the University of Southern California.
