Conor J. Clark

Conor J. Clark is an associate lawyer at Cooper and Company. Conor was born and raised in Fort McMurray, and has lived in Fort McMurray for his whole life. Conor graduated from The Kings University with a Bachelor of Arts in Politics, History, and Economics in 2012. Following his graduation Conor attended the Thompson Rivers University Faculty of Law in Kamloops British Columbia, graduating in 2015 as the second graduating class of Canada's newest law school (and the first new law school in Canada of the twenty-first century). After graduating from law school, Conor returned to Fort McMurray for his articling program with McMurray Law Office. Conor's articling period was rather unique, as he was forced to evacuate with his family from Fort McMurray during his articling period due to the 2016 Fort McMurray Wildfire. Conor worked remotely from Edmonton to assist clients with their matters while under evacuation, and continued to assist clients after returning to Fort McMurray. Conor was called to the Bar of Alberta on October 3, 2016, and joined the Cooper and Company team on November 1, 2016. Conor is proud to practice in Fort McMurray, and participates in many causes in the community. Conor is a member of the Board of Directors for the Northern Lights Regional Health Foundation, and works along with the rest of the members of the foundation to continually improve the quality of medical care available to the citizens of the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo here at home. Conor is also an active volunteer with the Fort City Church, and you can often find Conor greeting on Sunday mornings. In his spare time Conor enjoys reading, board games with friends and family, and enjoying the numerous outdoor activities that Fort McMurray offers. James M. Hackett

James M. Hackett is an Associate Lawyer at Cooper & Company. James has lived in Alberta all his life and has been in Fort McMurray since 2013. James graduated from Grant MacEwan University with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy in 2015. After his undergraduate work, he attended law school at the University of Calgary and graduated in 2018. In law school James participated in the Student Legal Assistance (SLA) program and in his 3 rd year worked as a tutor to teach 1 st year law students. James also received multiple awards during law school: The Darlene Korolak Memorial Award, for academic achievement; The John A. MacPherson, Q.C., Memorial Scholarship, for outstanding advocacy skills; The Owen Saunders Prize in Public International Law. While in university, James worked in the summers for Cooper & Company from 2013 to 2017. James was proud to be of service to Fort McMurray residents during the aftermath of the 2016 Wildfire by assisting those affected by the Wildfire with interpreting their insurance policies. James Hackett has a broad legal practice covering many areas of law providing exceptional service to Fort McMurray residents and businesses. James has appeared before all levels of Court in Alberta including the Alberta Court of Appeal, the Alberta Court of King's Bench, and the Alberta Court of Justice. Kanan Gandhi

Kanan moved to Fort McMurray in 2010. After graduating from Westwood Community High School in 2015, Kanan attended the University of Alberta to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science. Having finished her undergraduate studies in 2019, Kanan enrolled in the Faculty of Law at the University of Alberta. Despite the challenging global pandemic, Kanan successfully completed her Juris Doctor in 2022. Kanan returned home to Fort McMurray in 2022 and successfully completed her Articles with Cooper & Company, and was called to the Bar in July of 2023.

Nicola B. Cooper

Nicola Cooper is an Associate Lawyer at Cooper & Company. Nicola was born and raised in Fort McMurray. She moved to Edmonton during high school, and graduated from Old Scona Academic High School. Nicola completed a Theatre Arts Diploma at MacEwan University in 2012. She then went on to obtain a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (with Distinction) from MacEwan University in 2015. Nicola attended the University of Calgary for her law degree, and she graduated with a Juris Doctor in 2018. She was called to the Alberta Bar in 2019. During her spare time, Nicola enjoys spending time with her husband and son, walking in the Birchwood Trails, and baking. Nicola is currently training to compete in the Spartan Races in 2023 (having last competed pre-Covid in 2019). Nicola also enjoys engaging with the Fort McMurray community. She currently sits on the Board of Directors at the SPCA. Nicola is also on the Board of Directors for the Central Alberta Community Legal Clinic. Nicola is fluent in French, having completed grades K through 8 in French Immersion. She continued her French studies through high school (French 20, 30, and 31 IB) and in University. Nicola has also completed the DELF examination (Level B1). Terrence A. Cooper

Terry Cooper is a partner at Cooper & Company. He and his wife Val, who is a senior real-estate conveyancer with the Cooper & Company, raised their "Brady Bunch" family of five kids in Fort McMurray. Terry and Val are Proud to say "McMurray's My Home". It's been their home for over 35 years, and they are strong cheerleaders of this community.
