UAB Medical West has proudly served the communities of West Jefferson County since 1964. Comprised of an acute care hospital with 17 health centers located throughout its market including Bessemer, Hueytown, Vance, Tannehill and Hoover, UAB Medical West offers a wide range of diagnostic, surgical, medical and emergency services. These services include intensive care, women's, telemetry, geriatric psychiatry, inpatient rehabilitation, sleep medicine, cardiac rehabilitation, and advanced wound care. UAB Medical West has over 1,200 employees and more than 250 physicians on its medical staff... In 2015, Medical West became home to the state's first Freestanding Emergency Department (FED) off of Interstate 459 at Exit 10 in Hoover.
