Andrew is a Senior Mining Geotechnical Engineer who has over six years of experience in the mining industry. His operational experience encompasses various geotechnical engineering roles. These include Dugald River Underground Mine, Century Open Cut Mine, Costerfield Underground Mine, and Savage River Open Cut Mine. He has also been involved in numerous mine design studies, including at a pre-feasibility and feasibility level. His mining experience includes the monitoring and co-management of significant pit wall failures, data collection for various operational mine life stages, and geotechnical requirements for production and mine development. He was also a part of the Dugald River Trial Stoping Program and the Institute of Mine Seismology (IMS) open pit seismology program. Andrew's underground experience stems from the participation in the successful sub-level open stoping (SLOS) from the Dugald River Underground Mine Trial Stoping Program, working with numerous industry and technical leaders. Anthony Reed

Over the last 10 years Anthony has specialised in scientific analysis and interpretation of complex geological data, including surface and downhole structural, geochemical and geophysical data, in order to develop robust, resource ready, implicit 3D models for the purposes of asset acquisition, longevity and iterative geoscientific studies to expand orebody knowledge.

Cameron Farrington

He has worked at several different operations across Western Australia, the Northern Territory and Tasmania ranging from large open pits to smaller strip-mining operations and sub-level open stoping mining methods. Charlie has worked in consulting since the beginning of 2013 and has worked on numerous studies in Australia and overseas across gold, iron ore, copper and various other commodities. He has produced studies from PFS through to detailed design for major mining companies and has conducted preliminary investigations and due diligence assessments for smaller companies, including site audits. Charlie has been invited previously to present at ACG conferences on geotechnical design methodologies and is currently undertaking a Masters degree in Mining Engineering from the University of Western Australia.

David Lucas

David Lucas is a mining geotechnical specialist with over 30 years of experience in mining and civil geotechnical engineering, of which 24 years have been in mining in Australia and South-East Asia. He is a specialist in slope stability in open-cut mining, with considerable experience in rock and soil slopes, overburden dumps and stockpiles, in a wide range of hard rock mines, coal mines and quarries. With a first degree in geology, he is skilled at understanding and interpreting geological processes and settings in terms of their engineering impact. His on-site mining experience includes 12 years in site-based operational roles where he provided practical advice on slope stability, geotechnical hazard management, and failure remediation. His consulting experience since 2005 has included design applications for all stages of mining from scoping and feasibility studies, operational mines, and mine closure studies, risk based stability assessments, and communicating technical concepts to key stakeholders including regulatory authorities and the public. He also specialises in high level geotechnical reviews of mining operations. Dr Kevin Rees

Dr Yousef Abolfazlzadeh

Yousef is a ground control and rock mechanics specialist with substantial professional and academic experience in analysis and interpretation of mining induced seismicity. Yousef holds a PhD in mining induced seismicity from Queen's University and a master's from Laurentian University, Canada. Yousef joined Mining One as a senior geotechnical specialist in 2021. In his previous jobs, he was involved in various aspects of ground control engineering, seismicity and rock mechanics and worked with seismic data from some of the deepest hard rock underground mines in the world. His projects have included seismic array design, system optimization, seismic source parameter and hazard analyses and re-entry protocols. Yousef is the founder of TVSeminars Inc., which is a platform for delivering online mining/geotechnical seminars.

Dr Zahra Seyedmehdi

Dr. Robert Gaulton

A highly experienced Mining Geologist with over 45 years of experience, Rob provided a wide range of geological services to SECV mining and resource development operations in the Latrobe Valley (4 open cut operations) between 1973 and 1994. Between 1981 and 1992 he led a team of earth scientists and technical specialists while managing SECV drilling activities and a number of emergent large scale projects and investigations. He was also routinely involved with open pit drainage, dewatering and stability issues. In addition, Rob oversaw the introduction of computer based geological and geophysical data acquisition and the development of digital geological and coal resource models and was responsible for maintenance of the SECV bore data base. He completed an MSc (Hons) degree in Coal Geology at the University of Wollongong between 1983 and 1985. Between 1972 and 1988 he conducted over 70 internal training sessions on coal geology, pit stability and coal chemistry and lectured part time in earth sciences at the Gippsland Institute of Advanced Education (later Monash University Gippsland) between 1975 and 1987. Rob has also developed and presented a series of sessional lectures on low rank coals for Latrobe University and the University of Wollongong. He currently lectures in Engineering Geology for MSc students at Federation University Gippsland and takes practical geology sessions for Environmental Science students.

Dr. Tom Styles

Dr. Tom Styles is a chartered engineer with fourteen years of post graduate experience. He completed a PhD on numerical modelling of fractured rock slopes through the Camborne School of Mines, and further post-doctoral research at universities in Vancouver, Canada. This applied academic background, in combination with a number of consulting roles, provides a strong foundation in advanced numerical modelling, characterising and monitoring the rock mass, and general geotechnical support for open pit and underground mines, quarries, and green field sites. His work as a consultant focuses on rock mechanics, with experience in terrestrial LiDAR and drone-based photogrammetry, as well as both satellite radar data, offering solutions for both data collection and high resolution remote monitoring. Tom has worked on mine sites throughout Eurasia, Africa and Australia and North America, directing geotechnical site investigations and collecting data. His office-based analytical analyses and numerical modelling of ground stability, provides mine design parameters during feasibility and mine optimisation studies. Tom is also the agent for Cavroc in Europe and Africa

Edward Cooke

Gary Davison

Gary Davison has over 40 years of experience in the Australian Mining Industry. His career began at Renison, Tasmania, in 1978 and has worked at senior mine management levels in Tasmania, Western Australia, Victoria and New South Wales covering underground and surface mining techniques. As well as a practical, hands-on approach, Gary has worked for a variety of clients including lawyers on expert witness cases, merchant banks conducting a high number of due diligence examinations and many other feasibility studies. He has extensive experience in Australian and overseas. He has worked on mines and mining prospects and underground mines within the production range of 50,000 - 10,000,000 tonnes per annum. Gary is highly innovative in many areas having developed unique mine designs and infrastructure for difficult mines and he has a particular passion for ground support and improving the safety and efficiency of underground mining. Gary has successfully patented a variety of rock bolts, many of which are commercially available selling over 1.5 million units, worldwide. He has a number of other patents pending. Gary has written and presented a variety of papers on mining topics. He has visited mine sites and conducted work in Indonesia, Canada, Finland, UK, Sweden, Ghana, Central and South America, and China, as well all states and territories in Australia. Gary is one of the founders and Managing Director of Mining One Pty Ltd in Melbourne, Australia and his private Rock Bolt Technology firm, Gazmick Pty Ltd. He was a Non-Executive Director at Unity Mining Limited joining them in 2013 and has previously held Non Executive Directorships for Kasbah Resources Ltd and Lightning Nickel Pty Ltd., the nickel operating arm of Independence Group NL. Gary is also the Managing Director of the Mining Motor Company Pty Ltd which is developing variable speed electric motors for mining operations.

Iain Daggers
