Allen Ray Sorensen

Allen (Al) Sorensen jointed UFG Insurance in 1981, beginning his career as an underwriter trainee. Since then he has held several different line and management positions in the underwriting, product support, and corporate underwriting departments. He has had a lead or key role in development of home-grown commercial and personal lines policy processing systems, an imaging system, a commercial lines service center unit, and the integration of several acquired companies. In his current role, Mr. Sorensen is responsible for implementing plans and process related to enterprise risk management, including risk identification processes, risk reporting, ORSA, business continuity, corporate insurance, and risk analyst staff management. In addition, he works with the Chief Risk Officer to advise executive leadership on risks to company, and manages meetings and staff to ensure the UFG Risk Office is fulfilling its mission. Mr. Sorensen holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa and an MBA from the University of Iowa. He is also a Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC). He was a long time member of the local school foundation board, serving as president for five years. Mr. Sorensen is Vice Chairman of the Board and Chairman of the Nominating & Governance Committee. He also serves on the Executive Committee.

Anne Bonales

Anne has been with MSO since 2000. She manages all the HR benefits for MSO, handles the MSO legal and financial books and records, invoicing for fees, and all payables.

Brian P. Lytwynec

Brian P. Lytwynec is President of Franklin Mutual Insurance Group. He also serves on their Board of Directors. Mr. Lytwynec earned a BS in Economics with a concentration in Insurance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He also completed the school's Advanced Education Program, and is a CPCU. Prior to joining Franklin, Mr. Lytwynec had a long career with the Utica National Insurance Group, most recently as Assistant to the Chairman, Chief Strategy Officer, Chairman of their Investment Advisory Committee, and Acting CFO. He also served as President and COO.

Cricky Connell


Debra Kline

As AVP of Operations, Enterprise Project Management, and Statistical Services, Debbie oversees MSO's cloud functionality, database and server stability, and hardware and software environment. She works with MSO Actuarial and Product teams and member company IT teams in the analysis of statistical data and filing of NAIC and AIPSO annual reports.

Edward Arovas

Mr. Arovas has served in executive roles at Sensa, Inc.; Loop Mobility, Inc.; American Risk Management, Inc.; and Forge Insurance (formerly Amalgamated Casualty Insurance Co.). In addition, Mr. Arovas started his own technology consulting company, TechZen LLC. With an M.S. in Information Systems from The George Washington University School of Business and a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Connecticut, Mr. Arovas is also a licensed property and casualty producer. Mr. Arovas serves on MSO's Compensation Committee.

Eric Schmader

Mr. Schmader is President and CEO of Farmers Mutual Fire Insurance Company in Marble, PA and serves on the company's board of directors. Mr. Schmader was CFO and Treasurer prior to being appointed President. He joined Farmers Mutual in 2003 after working in the banking industry. Mr. Schmader is active in the Pennsylvania Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (PAMIC). He is a member of the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC) Board of Directors and Farm Mutual Conference Board and a director for the Mutual Inspection Bureau. Mr. Schmader earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Office Systems from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He holds the NAMIC Professional Farm Mutual Manager (PFMM) designation. Mr. Schmader serves on the Compensation Committee and the Nominating & Governance Committee.

James Doherty

Mr. Doherty joined Farmers in 1992 as Controller/Assistant Treasurer, becoming Controller/Treasurer the following year, Vice President/Treasurer in 1995, and Senior Vice President/Treasurer in 2008. He assumed his current position of President & CEO in July 2014. Mr. Doherty worked in the accounting departments of Consolidated Insurance Group and Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Delaware. Mr. Doherty received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Delaware and his Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Widener University. He holds the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation and the Associate in Insurance Accounting and Finance (AIAF) designation. Mr. Doherty is Chairman of the Audit Committee.

Jan Kozlowski - SVP

Jan Kozlowski is Senior Vice President, Programs, Legal, Research, Compliance and Corporate Records. His current responsibilities include identifying and analyzing the needs of MSO's clients, managing the development, introduction, and maintenance of the various products serviced by MSO, and monitoring the effects on the P & C insurance environment from the state and federal regulatory bodies. Before joining MSO in 1989, Kozlowski spent 15 years in various positions in the home office of the Insurance Services Office. His primary responsibilities there were in the product development functions for the commercial casualty lines. Kozlowski graduated from Saint Peter's University with a B.S. in Economics and Mathematics. He also received an MBA from Liberty University. He is an active member of several insurance trade organizations and serves on the PAMIC Government Affairs Committee, the Advisory Board of VAMIC, and the NAMIC Exhibitor Task Force.

Jan Scites - CEO, President

Ms. Scites is CEO and President of MSO, Inc. She has been with MSO since 2007 and is a member of the MSO, Inc. Board of Trustees. Prior to MSO, Inc., Ms. Scites held senior management positions at AT&T as Vice President, Broadband and Corporate Strategy and as Vice President, Business Customer Care. As Vice President Business Customer Care she managed an organization of 17,000 with a budget over 1.4B. At Connecticut Mutual Ms. Scites served as President of Customer Service and served as President of Phoenix Equity Planning Corporation, a broker dealer, at Phoenix Mutual Life Insurance Company. Ms. Scites has served on numerous boards, public and private, for over 30 years. She has been a member and Chair of Audit, Compensation, Nominating and Governance Committees. She is a member of the American, Connecticut, and New Jersey Bar Associations and is certified as a Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) and a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU). Ms. Scites has a law degree from the University of Connecticut Law School and a BGS Degree from Ohio University.

Karen S. Fulton

Karen S. Fulton is the retired President and CEO of ARI Insurance Company (an Amtrust Company), and its predecessor, ARI Mutual Insurance Company. She previously served as Vice President and Controller of American Reliance Insurance Company. Ms. Fulton was the 2017 recipient of the PCI and Griffith Foundation lifetime achievement award. She is a past member of several insurance industry boards of directors. She is a past president of the New Jersey Association of Mutual Insurance Companies. She earned her BSBA with a major in Accounting from Bucknell University. Ms. Fulton serves on the Audit Committee, the Nominating & Governance Committee, and is Treasurer of MSO, Inc.

Leo Black

Leo is AVP and Manager of Actuarial Services with primary responsibility in developing loss costs. Leo contributes to all actuarial-related functions at MSO having over 45 years of experience. Leo has expertise in product modeling, underwriting, staff development, budgeting, dealer management, regulatory compliance, risk management, and rate making. He has held actuarial positions at Crum & Forster Insurance Group and Seibels Bruce Insurance Group with a focus on Personal Automobile, Homeowners, Personal Liability, Inland Marine, and Watercraft. Leo has Automobile and Recreational Vehicle Extended Service Contract actuarial pricing experience with The American Road Insurance Company, the Lyndon Insurance Group, and Protective. Leo has a degree in Mathematics from Wabash College and has passed Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) exams 1, 2, 3.

Maria Blaney

Maria joined MSO in 1986 and handles all commercial inspection requests, report transcription and forms printing. Acts as receptionist and manages the MSO ACT database.

Mary Beegle

Mary joined MSO, Inc. in 2019, and has advanced to the role of AVP and Senior Product Development Analyst. In this capacity, Mary works with other members of the team and directly with MSO clients in the creation and filing of tailored personal and commercial insurance products. She has been involved in the insurance industry since 1980, primarily in underwriting and management roles for regional Pennsylvania companies. During that time, Mary attained AIS, ARe, AU, CIC, CISR, and CPCU designations and held a producer's license. She also has a background in freelance writing, editing, creative collaboration, and business consulting.

Michael L. Faron

Mike Faron is Senior Commercial Underwriter at Arbella Insurance Group in Quincy, MA. He serves on several industry boards and committees including: member of NAMIC's Federal Affairs and Commercial Lines Seminar Planning Committees, Secretary of the Massachusetts Insurance Federation Board of Directors, Vice-Chair of MA Commonwealth Automobile Reinsurers' (CAR) Commercial Automobile Committee, and member of the Mutual Fire Insurance Association of New England's (MFIANE) Loss Control Committee. Michael McNamara

Michael joined MSO's Inspections and Rating Services team in 2012, reviewing inspection reports and supplements for accuracy, completing rating and short form reports, and computing replacement cost calculations for commercial buildings. Since that time, his role has expanded to support a variety of other functional departments. Michael assists with research and proofreading for the company's industry publication articles, as well as set-up and CE credits for continuing education events. Michael keeps MSO's state license renewals up to date, and he monitors status of active SERFF submissions for the Product Development Analysts. Prior to working with MSO, Michael was involved in the insurance and re-insurance industry for 25 years with companies including USIRE, Munich Re American, and Crum & Forster.

Nils Deacon

Nils has been with MSO since 1981 as an inspector. He currently handles management of the Inspections and Rating Services. As a Senior Inspector, Nils provides inspections for schedule rating and short form reports. He serves as a principal member on three NFPA Technical Committees: Automotive and Marine Service Stations, Portable Fire Extinguishers, and Assembly Occupancies. He is a graduate of Lehigh University with a BA degree in History.

Richard (Rich) Pelkofsky

Rich is a graduate of Delaware Valley College with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He also has the following industry designations: CPCU, CIC, CRM, CCP, and AFIS. Rich had his own Insurance Agency for many years and has a strong background in Property & Casualty across all parts of the business.

Rudy Ewen

Rudy joined MSO in 1999. She handles the MSO Audit workflow, processing incoming / outgoing audit requests. She is also responsible for all forms & manual typing as requested by the MSO Product Analysts.

Scott St. Angel - Chairman

Scott St. Angel joined Farmers Insurance Company of Flemington as its Vice President of Operations in 2010 and has served as President & CEO since 2014. Before joining Farmers, his 20 years of industry experience included various management positions with OneBeacon, NJ Skylands, and Travelers. Mr. St. Angel holds a B.A. from Gettysburg College and an MBA from the Rutgers University Graduate School of Management. He also holds the CPCU, AIC, AIS, and SCLA professional designations and serves as a Master Certified Special Arbitrator for Arbitration Forums. Mr. St. Angel is a member of the CPCU Society and the Society of Claim Law Associates. Mr. St. Angel is Chairman of the Board and serves on the Executive and the Nominating & Governance Committees.

Stan Hvostik

Stan joined the Actuarial Services Team in 2023, working on actuarial analysis for MSO and member company state filings. His role includes competitive market analysis, development of factors and loss costs for MSO manuals, actuarial memorandums, and indication support for member companies. Various past actuarial positions included Actuarial Pricing Manager for AJ Gallagher's Personal Auto Program, and Actuary and Product Manager at National Unity Insurance Company and at National General Insurance. Stan also worked at QBE First and Young America Insurance as an actuary and product manager.

Sue Quimby

Sue joined MSO in 1991. She serves as MSO's Vice President/Media Editor Client Services and Training, and Senior Product Development Analyst. Sue's job responsibilities include product development - creation of manuals and forms for MSO as well as member companies, writing monthly articles for industry publications, and providing educational seminars and webinars. She is Director of MSO's Continuing Education school which currently is approved in NJ, PA, DE, MD, CT, NH and VA. Prior to MSO, Sue spent 14 ½ years as a property/casualty producer in independent agencies. She is active in a number of industry organizations, including terms as President of NJ Chapter of the CPCU (Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter) Society; Regional Vice President, NJ Council Director, and numerous terms as local IAIP (International Association of Insurance Professionals) of Central NJ Association President; and active member of several IAIP task forces. She is a long time member of the PAMIC Educational Seminars committee. In her local church, Sue is Clerk of Session, as well as performing other duties. Sue has a B.S. Degree in Plant Science from Cook College, Rutgers University.

Teresa Golin

Teresa has experience with ratemaking, rate adequacy, collateral reviews, and product modeling. Teresa held actuarial positions at Insurance Services Office (ISO), Continental Insurance, and Reliance Insurance Company, and has experience with Medical Professional Liability, General Liability, Property, and Workers Compensation lines of business. Teresa holds a Bachelors' degree in Mathematics from the State University of New York at Binghamton, and has passed Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) exams 1, 2, 3a, 3b, 3c, and 5B.

Trish Riggio - Secretary

As Corporate Secretary, Trish's responsibilities include setting up Board and Committee Meetings and maintaining Corporate Governance books and legal records. As VP of Compliance, she maintains the MSO Advisory/Rating Organization licenses Secretary of State Certificates of Authority. Trish is responsible for monitoring insurance regulatory and compliance changes across the country, annual reports, and various tax reporting. As a Senior Product Development Analyst, she develops and updates the various personal and commercial MSO insurance products nationwide. Trish Riggio has 20+ years in the insurance industry and has been with MSO since 2007.
