Benjamin Kroll

Ben has been working as a web developer in Germany, Canada, and Australia since 2000. Presently working across the "full stack", using PHP, JavaScript, and CSS with a focus on eZ Publish. He has worn many hats in the past (sadly only figuratively), including: video editing, interaction design & animation for the education sector, creating content management systems in PHP and ColdFusion, Windows applications in Delphi, and system tools and games in Python. At Mugo Ben has worked on a range of publisher data solutions that power sites and systems such as 49thShelf.com, AllLitUp.ca, and ReaderBound.com, exposing great Canadian literature to the world. He speaks German and English and enjoys the ever-changing weather in Melbourne, Australia. He's also a trained blacksmith.

Bethany Morse

Bethany brings her organizational and marketing experience to the team at Mugo Web following 16 years as a librarian. Her time doing community outreach and technical training is a perfect fit to help connect customers with the right web-based solutions. She is passionate about technology and education, is a voracious reader, and loves nothing more than sharing skills and interests with others. On weekends, you'll find her using her creativity outside the office for crafting, writing, and herding cats.

Carlos Mauri

Carlos has vast experience across the stack, from setting up detailed internet infrastructure that capitalizes on all AWS has to offer, to turning complicated javascript projects into easy-to-use, single-page applications. Carlos grew up in Barcelona, but after traveling the world with his partner, landed in Vancouver as part of our local Mugo team. He and his family can be found enjoying the many waterways BC has to offer on the weekends, as he tries to instill a love of fishing in his two young children. He's currently working on a project to migrate a suite away from WordPress engine to AWS with full Varnish caching. The results of this project will mean a cheaper and more reliable site for our clients, all while improving results on the site for users.

Dave Fearnley

For more than 20 years Dave has coded just-in-time inventory systems, custom point-of-sale terminals, dynamic pricing systems, membership directories, and much more. He has a broad experience in delivering large scale educational software products. Dave is Mugo's champion and expert of website accessibility, especially regarding the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0.

Doug Plant

Doug has been working on web projects since 2001, although he has been programming since the 80s. Pre-web he worked on various things including games, industrial robots, and a prototype fusion reactor control system. He likes: working on web projects because the return on investment is so easy to recognize; working with Ibexa DXP because it is so efficient to deliver on; and working with the Mugo team to deliver great tools to clients. When he's not working, he is getting his two kids into the backcountry. He has a degree in computer science, another in physics, and has spent around 10 years planting trees.

Ernesto Buenrostro

Everyone in the Mugo team looks up to Ernesto. He's the go-to person whenever teammates have a question and often leads the pack in the quarterly Kudos scoreboard. Recently, he and his family resettled in Alberta. Ernesto has a degree in Telematics Engineering. He has developed applications for desktop, client/server, and websites. He is project owner on several projects, including most recently the Christian Science Directory. Ernesto also enjoys making accessible websites and building pure PHP Symfony applications.

Karn Kallio

Karn started programming in computational physics and moved from there to enterprise applications and web development. Within web development he has worked with PHP and Java for 20 years, ranging from building ORM frameworks through corporate dashboards and authentication systems to setting up websites with content management systems such as Typo3 and Ibexa DXP (formerly known as eZ Platform). Other than learning new languages and paradigms, he likes jogging, reading scientific publications, and taking care of cats. He speaks Spanish and English.

Maxim Strukov

Max started his software development journey with database management systems like FoxPro and Paradox. He took a turn to web development when creating a form to upload human resource data. Since then, he has used PHP frameworks such as Zend, YII, and Symfony, as well as front-end frameworks such as React. Max has worked with the content management systems WordPress and eZ/Ibexa. Particular highlights include integrations with the Solr search engine and a framework for two-factor authentication. Max's current interests include political history and political science. He speaks English, Ukrainian, and Russian.

Paulo Valle

Paulo started working with HTML when he was 10 years old. As a teenager, he applied his fresh knowledge of Clipper -- from the MS-DOS days -- to build a patient management software for a hospital in his city in Brazil. Since 2011, he has worked with PHP, eZ Publish, WordPress, and CodeIgniter. Paulo has also studied Philosophy, Human Science, and Anthropology, which help him think abstractly when working with technology. Outside of work (literally), he takes photos of people, nature, urban scenes, and wildlife, and builds impossible structures with blocks of Lego. He has recently picked up 3D printing and spends time painting detailed models of his favorite characters.

Peter Keung - Managing Director

Peter, one of the founders of Mugo, uses his extensive Ibexa DXP (formerly eZ Publish) knowledge to help Mugo manage complex implementations of web solutions for a diverse range of industries. He enjoys both working with the coding team and building relationships with clients. He's a pro at communicating advanced development ideas to partners, regardless of their technical background, and collaborating with them to help achieve their goals. Peter has written books and documentation about the Ibexa platform. He has a Business degree (specializing in Management Information Systems) and a minor in Kinesiology. Off the clock, he enjoys playing tennis and hockey. His all-time favorite book is An Astronaut's Guide to Life on Earth by Chris Hadfield.

Philipp Kamps

Philipp has extensive experience in designing and implementing robust solutions for high traffic and complex websites and web applications. He has strong knowledge in reviewing and optimizing the performance for all layers of a web application, including browser page load performance, application refactoring, cluster setups, and operating system configurations. He has built object-oriented and secure web applications on top of different PHP and Java frameworks. If a specific architectural structure was required, he designed and implemented new frameworks from the ground up. Philipp has been the project lead on some of the most creative and demanding eZ Publish and PHP projects. He lives in Aachen, Germany, and speaks English, French and German. In his free time you'll find him in a climbing gym or outdoors bouldering.

Thiago Campos Viana

Thiago has a degree in computing science and has been working with eZ Publish since 2006. During his graduation course, he discovered eZ Publish while comparing several Content Management Systems as part of his scientific research program. Since then his experiences have included living in Norway for almost 2 years, being nominated for several eZ awards, and winning the "Core Contributor of the Year" eZ Award. Thiago is a demon for work, always looking for more projects and ways to help the team at Mugo Web. He's known for often being the first to jump on a problem, sometimes finding solutions to problems even as they are being reported. He speaks Portuguese and English. He works on almost every project at Mugo, and he's the principal developer on many of those.

Tim Yeung

Tim comes to the Mugo team from Hong Kong. He has a degree in computing science and more than 10 years of experience in e-commerce and web application development. Tim has built object-oriented and secure web applications on top of different web frameworks. He works with PHP, WordPress, WooCommerce, CodeIgniter, and Laravel, all while increasing his skills by learning new programming languages and system patterns, like Python, Angular JS, and Vue.js. Outside of work, Tim enjoys hiking with friends, and is an avid PC gamer (he's a diehard World of Warcraft horde fan).
