Adrian G. Washington - CEO, Founder

Mr. Washington has over 30 years of experience in real estate development, construction and management, and has led the startup of four private companies and one public/private entity. Since founding NDC in 1999 he has led the development of over 1 million square feet of real estate in the DMV area, with an active pipeline of another one million. NDC is also a partner in the District's City Center DC project and in Baltimore's State Center project. In 2005, Mr. Washington took an 18 month leave of absence from NDC to serve as the President and CEO of the Anacostia Waterfront Corporation (AWC), the entity charged with leading the redevelopment of the city's Southwest and Anacostia Waterfronts, including Nationals Stadium, the Navy Yard, and the Wharf. In 2021 Mr. Washington founded Platform LLC, a visionary new startup company that will disrupt the $1.3 trillion construction/real estate development industry. Mr. Washington grew up in the city's Anacostia neighborhood and is a lifelong resident of DC. He is a graduate of Stanford University and the Harvard Business School. Heather Howell is our Chief People Person, managing processes and solutions for our exceptional team of professionals. Heather is an advisor to the team and focuses on culture development. She is responsible for optimizing people-centered performance, including hiring, training, performance and professional development to ensure growth. She brings over twenty years of business and management experience. Heather joined NDC in 2018, where she managed all areas of NDC operations, accounting and office administration. Heather worked for Archstone (formerly Charles E. Smith), one of the largest Real Estate Investment Trusts in the United States. Heather also founded and developed a youth educational agriculture nonprofit.

Jean Pierre

Jean Pierre ("JP") joins the NDC team as a development associate with a focus on acquisitions, development and project management. JP has held senior associate positions at Greenbrook Partners and AIG Asset Management within the Direct Equity and Co-investment business. In addition, JP spent two years at Barclays on the leveraged finance team as part of the firm's traditional investment banking analyst program. He also completed undergraduate internships with American Express and Goldman Sachs while majoring in Finance & Investments with a minor in Journalism at the Zicklin School of Business, Baruch College (City University of New York). A native of Port-au-Prince, Haiti, JP moved to the U.S. at the age of 8 and grew up in Georgia, he went on to graduate high school there, while spending most of his summers in New York City. JP is an alum of SEO Career and America Needs You (ANY).

Jingjing Liu

Ms. Liu has experience working on different aspects of real estate projects. Joel Bonder serves as NDC's outside General Counsel and is a principal in JF Bonder PLLC, a law firm specializing in providing General Counsel, real estate and corporate services to private and public real estate companies in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. Prior to starting his own practice, Mr. Bonder served as Counsel at Bryan Cave LLP and as General Counsel to three multifamily and commercial real estate companies. He served from January 2005 to December 2012 as Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of First Potomac Realty Trust, a publicly traded office and retail real estate investment trust (REIT); Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of Apartment Investment and Management Company (Aimco), a publicly traded apartment REIT from 1997 to 2002; and Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of National Corporation for Housing Partnerships, a private owner of multifamily housing throughout the United States, and its publicly traded property management company, NHP Incorporated (NHP), from 1994 to 1997. He held other in-house legal positions with NHP from 1985 to 1994. Mr. Bonder received his J.D. degree from Washington University School of Law in St. Louis and is admitted to the bar in the District of Columbia, Massachusetts, and Illinois. He received his BA degree from the University of Rochester.

Kalkidan is responsible for the project organization, entitlement, design coordination, financial management, and construction administration of affordable housing projects in the DC metro area. Kalkidan, we are glad to have you as part of our team. As a Development Associate at NDC, Kalkidan Makonnen is responsible for the project organization, entitlement, design coordination, financial management, and construction administration of affordable housing projects in the DC metro area. In the past, she has worked on mixed-use projects in the DMV including offices, hotels, and retail. Originally from Ethiopia, Ms. Makonnen earned a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and Architecture from the University of Maryland. She is a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success, CREW DC, and is a LEED GA.

Lisa Wiersma Director

Lisa Wiersma has over 25 years of commercial real estate development experience, specializing in residential, mixed-use, performing arts, public-private and affordable housing sectors. Lisa has served in leaderships positions with Cushman & Wakefield, Telesis Corporation, Vornado Charles E. Smith Management, LLC, JLL, Lowe Enterprises and Concord Partners. Lisa served as an adjunct professor with the University of Maryland's Master of Real Estate Development program in the School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation, where she taught Real Estate Finance from 2011 to 2017. Lisa maintains professional affiliations with the Urban Land Institute, Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW), DC Building Industry Association and the Wisconsin Real Estate Alumni Association. She received her M.S. in Business - Real Estate and Urban Land Economics from the University of Wisconsin Madison and her B.S. in Architecture from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.

Mehul Vora - VP

Mr. Vora brings a diverse professional background with over 26 years of experience as an investor, entrepreneur, and investment banker. Most recently, Mr. Vora co-founded and served as CFO for the Seattle-based real estate firm, NexGen Housing Partners. NexGen delivered 380 market-rate and affordable apartments during his tenure. Prior to that, he helped two fortune 100 companies manage pension, foundation, and balance sheet capital in alternative asset classes including private equity, venture capital and mezzanine, in funds, co-investments and direct deals. In those ten years, he led the deployment of $2.5B of invested capital across all private strategies and geographies. Mr. Vora is a Genovese Fellow at the Darden School of Business and holds a master's degree from the McIntire School at the University of Virginia. He earned a bachelor's degree from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He resides in Arlington, VA with his wife and two children.

Ms. Cancel is a seasoned Project Management Professional with 15 years of experience developing a wide range of Commercial and Residential real estate including but not limited to Public-Private partnerships and Market Rate & Affordable Developments. Since starting with the firm in 2014 as a Development Manager, Michaela has since expanded her responsibilities to encompass all of NDC Operations, Accounting & Finance, Marketing, Human Resources, Asset management, as well as shared responsibility for the Portfolio management of all Company Developments. Prior to joining NDC, Michaela was with Newmark Grubb Knight Frank where she was responsible for the management of Design and Construction projects for Capital One Bank. Michaela holds a BA from the University of West Florida as well as her Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute. Michaela is an active member of the Forbes Business Council, PMI, ULI, DCBIA & CREW.

Vince Harriman

Mr. Harriman brings a wide range of experience, having worked as a general contractor, consultant and Owner's Representative. Most recently, Mr. Harriman worked as a construction consultant, working as an Owner's Representative, Owner's Project Manager and general construction consultant. He recently acted as a Construction Manager as Agent, leading a team of 15 people to complete the construction of a $90 million, amenity-rich 55+ community in Princeton, NJ. Prior to that, Mr. Harriman worked as President of a small construction company in Annapolis focusing on LIHTC renovations across DC, Virginia and Maryland. Before that, he was project manager for green and sustainable projects in Baltimore and Washington DC. Mr. Harriman has a Master's degree from the Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor's degree from St. John's College. He lives in Annapolis, MD, with his wife and two children.
