Anne Oliver - VP

Anne is the Vice President for SWCA's Great Basin and Pacific Northwest region, which includes our offices in Salt Lake City and Portland (Oregon). She has more than 25 years of experience in historic preservation and cultural resources management, as well as operations leadership and management. Anne came to SWCA in 2012 as a preservationist specializing in architectural history and archaeological site conservation, advancing to a Technical Team Lead and Cultural Resources Program Director in the Salt Lake City office. Her work has resulted in more than a dozen publications and numerous presentations in the U.S. and abroad. She has served on the organizing committees of both regional and national preservation conferences and is the past Chairperson of the Salt Lake City Historic Landmark Commission and Vice Chairperson of the Salt Lake City and County Building Conservancy and Use Committee. She is currently a board member of the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Association for Preservation Technology. Anne earned a master's degree in historic preservation from the University of Pennsylvania and an interdisciplinary undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia, with an emphasis in art and architectural history.

Cara Bellavia - VP

Cara is the Vice President of Scientific and Technical Services for SWCA's West region, responsible for advancing SWCA's scientific and technical strategy, staff development and mentoring, large project execution, and client development. Cara joined SWCA in 2000 and has worked her way up through SWCA in various leadership roles. Throughout her tenure, she has focused on establishing trusted relationships with clients and agencies and developing sound technical strategies to provide the scientific and regulatory solutions that SWCA is known for. Cara holds a bachelor's degree in anthropology and a master's degree in urban and environmental planning from Arizona State University.

Deborah Owens - CHRO

As Chief People Officer, Deborah oversees the Human Resources team to ensure that all of SWCA receives the support needed for maximum employee engagement and business excellence. Deborah's experience includes people leadership roles within the transportation, construction, and staffing industries, as well as experience supporting student services, learning, and recruiting initiatives at Arizona State University and Northern Arizona University. Deborah holds a bachelor's degree and MBA from Northern Arizona University. She is also certified by the Society for HR Management and has additional certifications in facilitation, leadership coaching, emotional intelligence, and learning & performance.

Eileen Fagan - VP

As the Vice President of Marketing and Communication, Eileen oversees marketing communications, proposal support, market research, and market information systems functions of the company. Eileen has been with SWCA since 2011, and her experience in the architectural, engineering, and environmental industries spans more than 28 years. She has specialized in strategic planning, client relationship management, market research, marketing communications, branding, public relations, and proposal development. Eileen holds a bachelor's degree in marketing from Fairfield University and is a LEED Accredited Professional. She also is a member of the Society for Marketing Professional Services and the Association of Proposal Management Professionals.

She has more than 37 years of experience in the consulting engineering industry and most recently served as Chair of the Board for Stanley Consultants. Prior to her election as Chair, she served as the company's President and CEO. She has been recognized for her contributions to the engineering industry with multiple awards. She holds a bachelor's in chemical engineering from Iowa State University and an MBA from St. Ambrose University.

Jana Sterling - VP

Jana Sterling is the Vice President for SWCA's Southwest region, which includes our offices in Flagstaff, Phoenix, Tucson, Las Vegas, and Reno. She has more than 20 years of experience in environmental consulting and natural resources management. Jana joined SWCA in 2006 as a biologist and project manager in the Phoenix office. Since then, she has worked her way up through SWCA in various leadership roles, most recently serving as the Director of Arizona offices. She is currently serving as a board member for Willow Bend Environmental Education Center in Flagstaff, Ariz. Jana earned a bachelor's degree from the Texas A&M University Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences.

John Dietler - VP

John Dietler is the Vice President of the Southern California region overseeing operations of the Pasadena office. John joined SWCA in 2008 and has been instrumental in growing the Pasadena office. He first served as Principal Investigator, eventually moving into the Cultural Resources Director role in 2010. In August 2017, John took responsibility for both the Cultural and Natural Resources programs in Pasadena. Over the past ten years, John has developed and contributed to a variety of operations and offices with a strong focus on our clients, projects, and staff.

Kevin Miller - VP

Kevin serves as the Vice President for SWCA's Central Texas region which includes the Austin, San Antonio, and Arlington offices. Kevin manages a staff that specializes in biological and geological sciences, archaeology, and historic preservation. He has more than 20 years of experience in environmental consulting, particularly in project management, federal and state regulatory compliance, cultural resource management, and strategic business development. Kevin joined SWCA in 1993. In his previous post as SWCA's Cultural Resources Program Director in Austin, he oversaw cultural resources management and permitting for a wide variety of projects across the state, including numerous large oil pipeline and electric transmission line projects. He is also an expert in the archaeology of Texas, southern Oklahoma, Arkansas, New Mexico, and Arizona, with a strong background in prehistoric technologies, faunal studies, and trade/exchange systems. He holds a bachelor's degree in archaeology and a master's degree in anthropology from the University of Texas at Austin.

Laura Huenneke

Laura Huenneke joined the SWCA Board of Directors in May 2017. She earned her Ph.D. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at Cornell University and currently serves as a professor in the School of Earth Sciences and Environmental Sustainability at Northern Arizona University. She has numerous professional honors and recognitions, more than 50 peer-reviewed publications, and serves on the editorial boards and as reviewer for numerous scientific journals. In addition to her scientific and academic endeavors, Laura has extensive experience in the organization, development, and strategic visioning for academic institutions. She had served as Dean, Founding Dean, Vice President for Research, and Provost at Northern Arizona University. The combination of scientific expertise and organizational experience make Laura an exciting and unique addition to SWCA's board of directors.
