Doug Kingston

North Queensland business, marketing and media consultant who worked as a journalist, sports editor and marketing manager during a 25-year career with the Townsville Bulletin newspaper. Winner of 7 International Newspaper Marketing Association awards and 14 Pacific Area Newspaper Publishers Association (PANPA) awards, including PANPA Marketer of the Year in 2000 and 2004. Was involved in the early development of the North Queensland Cowboys, North Queensland Fury and Townsville Crocodiles national sporting teams and received North Queensland Tourism's highest honour - Outstanding Contribution by an Individual - in 2001. Has been a Director of Tennis Queensland since 2009 and a Queensland Member Representative to Tennis Australia since 2010.

Dr John Hewson

Dr John Hewson is one of Australia's most experienced economists, financial experts and company directors. A former high profile politician, Dr Hewson was Shadow Finance Minister, Shadow Treasurer, and Leader of the Liberal Party and Leader of the Opposition from 1990 to 1994. In his earlier career, Dr Hewson's appointments included economist positions with the International Monetary Fund, the Treasury, and the Reserve Bank of Australia; Professorships at UNSW, Macquarie and currently at the ANU; as a Founding Executive Director of Macquarie Bank, a Trustee of the IBM Superannuation Fund, and as Advisor to a host of international banks, including Sumitomo, Midland, OCBC, Baring Securities, and Bank of America. He also served as Advisor/Chief of Staff to two successive Treasurers and the Prime Minister in the Fraser Government. Since leaving politics in 1995, Dr Hewson has forged a very successful career in investment banking and at the elite levels of business. Most notably, Dr Hewson was Chairman of ABN Amro Australia, and served on its Advisory Board for 11 years, and as a Director of many public and private companies in various industries, including health and aged care, manufacturing, printing, gold mining and mining engineering, oil and gas exploration, power, finance, financial planning, insurance broking, property, and funds management, and has developed a couple of businesses in China. He has a keen, active interest in environmental issues and has had direct involvement in ventures including a waste recycling and methane extraction facility in Sydney, energy efficient light bulbs, bio-diesel, and green data centres. He also chaired the National Business Leaders Forum on Sustainable Development for six years. In 2001 Dr Hewson was awarded a Member in the Order of Australia for service to business and economics, the Australian Parliament and politics, and the community.

Robert Michael Carey - Chairman

Senior partner of the North Queensland based public accountancy practice of BJ Carey & Company Pty Ltd, specialising in taxation, management and finance. He is a member of CPA Australia, holds a Bachelor of Business Degree, is a registered company auditor with ASIC and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Robert is also the Chief Executive Officer of the Carey Family Group of Companies, is a director on Ethanol Technologies Limited and is also a director on a number of other non-related companies.

Tom Hare

Tom Hare is a sugar industry expert with more than 35 years international experience in raw sugar manufacture, sugar refining, distillation and power generation. He has helped design and commission similar multi-functional factories in Australia, Kenya, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Fiji, Iran, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea. He has vast experience in all primary functions of the NQBE factory (sugar production, ethanol distilling and power generation), in addition to construction contract administration, project management and factory maintenance planning programs. He will head up the construction and operational phases of NQBE's state-of-the-art sugar-based renewable power facility and will take the project through the final design stage and then into operation.
