Pakistan is rich in natural resources and has the capacity to become self-sufficient in energy having huge sedimentary basins stretching over 825,000 sq. kms., offering immense potential for exploration and development of the local natural resources with an exploration success ratio of 1 : 3.5... The Govt. has formed ALTERNATIVE ENERGY DEVELOPMENT BOARD "AEDB" to explore alternative energy sources to electrify rural areas. Pakistan has 1,046 Km long costal line where speed of wind is quite favorable for producing electricity. Pakistan has a potential of almost 50,000 MW WIND POWER, which could produce cheap electricity and reduce production cost for the cottage industry in the rural areas.
