Ken Goodwin is President and Managing Partner of Pacific Preferred Insurance. He founded Pacific Preferred Insurance in 2011 to fulfill his vision for bringing efficient and affordable auto, home business, life, and health insurance for all consumers in California. Prior to starting Pacific Preferred Insurance, he led an extensive and over 19-years long career in senior management with Bank of America, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf and Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield. Having started his insurance career in 1996, he brings over a decade of experience, specifically in the insurance industry. With this extensive experience, he has a unique and strong insight into the needs of insurance clients and businesses and of the important elements that are needed to help his clients achieve their goals.
In 2011, he decided to pursue his entrepreneurial dream and establish Pacific Preferred Insurance. Under his daily leadership, the agency has flourished and in 2015 was selected as the Primary and Exclusive Online Producer of a state-sponsored program, California's Low Cost Auto Insurance, that helps make auto auto-insurance affordable for many California residents who otherwise would not have been insured. His passion for client service and his commitment to learning has helped form the foundation of his success. He takes a comprehensive approach when analyzing clients' insurance coverage to uncover their true risk exposures, ensure they and/or their business are properly protected and classified, and identifies alternative risk transfer strategies.
In 2018, he was invited to join the Forbes Los Angeles Business Council, where he is able to connect with other business leaders, contribute to leadership articles and provide short tips on industry-related topics for publishing on Forbes.com
In honor of his mother who passed away from cancer in 2006, he established the Andrina Goodwin Foundation, which since 2011 has provided care and support for those going through illness and bereavement.
In his spare time, he enjoys volunteering and mentoring the youth and was a mentor at the California National Guard Grizzly Youth Academy. He was named Sports Volunteer of the Year by the Boys and Girls Club of Conejo Valley in 2015 and enjoys coaching basketball, baseball and soccer. He is also a Registered and Bonded California Legal Document Assistant and a member of ProVisors a community of professionals who serve their clients as trusted advisors and share the highest standards of integrity, performance and accountability.

Matt Shumard is a Managing Partner of Pacific Preferred Insurance. He co-founded the agency in 2011 and joined the agency as a producer in 2015 to fulfill his vision of bringing the most comprehensive and cost efficient insurance to independent pharmacy owners in the states of California and Arizona. Prior to starting Pacific Preferred Insurance Brokers, he's held ownership interests in other independent agencies as well as managed the California Pharmacy Association book of business for Marsh and McClennan Companies. Matt is an expert in the field of Pharmacy Professional Liability, Workman's Compensation, General Liability, Commercial Property, Directors and Officers Liability Insurance and Employment Practice Liability Insurance.
In his spare time, he enjoys volunteering as a charity benefit auctioneer to help non-profits around the region meet their fund-raising goals. He also enjoys spending time with the family at any one of the beautiful beaches the great state of California has to offer.
