I joined NSW Health Pathology in August 2020. Prior to this role, I was the Organisational Performance and Leadership Practice Leader at the Nous Group since 2010, supporting executives, managers and employees through complex and challenging business and cultural change.
I was really attracted to the vision and culture of NSW Health Pathology, and that this role allows me to work with, and support, all the dedicated and talented people across pathology, particularly at this important time during the COVID-19 pandemic.
I love being able to work across strategic, operational and tactical initiatives, and that I can continue my passion and commitment to developing the culture and capability of the health workforce into the future, to ultimately improve people's lives.

Dr Legg is a health informatician who first trained as a scientist and researcher in physiology and pathology. He has been a successful leader in the Australian health sector for more than 25 years with CEO roles in small, medium and large not-for-profit and for-profit organisations.
Dr Legg is the Chair of the Informatics Advisory Committee of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia and Member of the Academic Board for Bioinformatics of the European Association for Predictive, Preventive and Personalised Medicine.
Dr Nigel Lyons has over 30 years' experience in the NSW Health system as a clinician, manager and executive. As Deputy Secretary, Health System Strategy and Planning at the NSW Ministry of Health he is responsible for strategic health policy development, inter-jurisdictional negotiations and funding strategies, system-wide planning of health services including mental health and setting the direction for child and family health policy.

I have been in this role since 2017. Prior to this I was the Locum Network Director for the (then) Pathology West division of NSW Health Pathology. I've also held a position of the Senior Director of Pathology Queensland for 10 years. I was attracted to the role as it allowed me to use my skills and experience in new and different ways to support NSW Health Pathology in its provision of state wide services.
I love being able to assist all portfolios within NSW Health Pathology and be able to provide clinical, pathology and pathologist advice to developments and services.

I started with NSW Health Pathology in March 2020. Previously, I was the Director of Transformation at Transport for NSW, leading organisational transformation. I have 20 years' health experience as a clinician, healthcare consultant and health manager. I'm absolutely thrilled to be working at NSW Health Pathology with such a great team doing such exciting work. This role appealed to me because of the diversity, and the opportunity to drive transformational change across pathology. My passion is leading improvement of our health services for our patients, communities and staff.
I have led large scale change across healthcare sector in both government and private organisation in Australia, the Middle East and South East Asia. I really enjoy working with a talented and motivated team and across a broad group of stakeholders. It's really rewarding knowing the work my portfolio is delivering will improve the way pathology services are delivered and there will be a positive impact on patients, our staff and the broader healthcare sector.

I joined NSW Health Pathology in October 2018. Prior to this, I was the Director of Hunter New England Imaging and Breastscreen NSW. I've also worked at Hunter New England Local Health District for over 10 years in various leadership roles. I was drawn to the culture and leadership of NSW Health Pathology. Forensic medicine and the forensic & environmental sciences are incredibly interesting. It directly impacts the lives of people and I was attracted by the opportunity to help improve the experience of families and members of the community.
Darren has over 30 years experience in the provision of professional auditing, accounting and advisory services to various sectors including health, not for profit, government, financial services, technology, mining and industrial.
In his role as Partner at PwC, Darren was instrumental in the growth and success of the Newcastle office through his continuous focus on the local and national market. Darren led by example in his role as Markets Partner, facilitating city leadership, community and networking events to build the PwC brand and invest in the Newcastle community. Darren has cemented himself as a trusted business advisor to many of his long standing clients as evidenced by his involvement on numerous boards and in an advisory capacity.
Jason is an Aboriginal man of the Yuin nation of the South Coast of NSW. He has 15 years' experience in senior executive roles in the NSW public sector, including nearly a decade in Aboriginal Affairs where he set a new vision and strategic direction. Jason's success stems from an ability to see the big picture; inspire purpose, challenge existing narratives and ways of working; be resilient in the face of setbacks; and deliver results. He was awarded the Public Service Medal (PSM) in the 2018 Queen's Birthday Honours for outstanding public service to Indigenous people in NSW.
Mr Loxton has an extensive background with 40 years' experience in the public sector, including 26 years in senior management roles. He spent more than ten years as Assistant Director General in the Department of Premier and Cabinet acted as Director General in five agencies and spent 16 years in executive roles with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). Mr Loxton is enthusiastic about being actively involved with ideas, innovation, strategy, leadership and communication, to make important things happen.
Carmen has a background in both public and private enterprise and has been a senior leader in NSW Health for the past 20 years. She was the first member of the founding team that built Health Support, the organisation that would mature into HealthShare NSW.
As the Chief Executive of HealthShare NSW, she is honoured to lead that state wide organisation of more than 6,000 employees, the largest public sector shared services organisation in Australia. Carmen holds a Masters of Business Administration, was recognised in the Top 50 Women in NSW Public Service for 2018 and is the recipient of the Davidson Leadership Acceleration Program Scholarship for 2018. She is a resilient professional who is passionate about HealthShare NSW's mission in providing superior shared and support services to NSW Health.

Professor Nicholas Hawkins is a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia with specialist qualifications in Anatomical Pathology. He is currently a conjoint professor in the School of Medical Sciences at UNSW Sydney, and leads the Biomedical Education Skills and Training (BEST) Network of online biomedical educators. He was Director of the Office of Medical Education at the University of Queensland from 2016-2019, and before that served as Head of the School of Medical Sciences at UNSW Australia (2008-15). He has a track record of innovation in teaching and in the field of research, Nick has brought his training in molecular and cellular biology, and his professional expertise in Anatomical Pathology and to the problem of colorectal cancer, with over one hundred publications in the fields of gastroenterology, pathology and cancer research.

I've been working with NSW Health Pathology since January 2017 and been part of our Strategic Leadership Team in my current role since October 2017. With over 16 years' experience in healthcare communications, I've worked for global healthcare PR agencies and most recently as a Team Leader for External Communications and Media Relations with Pfizer UK. The opportunity to help shape and deliver statewide pathology and forensic services that make a genuine difference to the people of NSW from before birth to death is a real privilege.
Being able to shine a light on the many experts working behind our lab doors is humbling. No two days are ever the same, which means that I am able continue to learn new things and quench my curious nature for all things science and medicine. Plus, I'm surrounded by an amazingly talented team who always demonstrate our caring, connecting and pioneering spirit.

I have been in this role since September 2019. Previously, I was Chief Financial Officer at the University of Newcastle for over four years, and before that, I spent 30 years with BHP/BHP Billiton in various roles and locations in Australia and Singapore. I was attracted to the role having heard lots of positive things from friends about the workplace culture and what NSW Health Pathology was trying to achieve. I was drawn to working for a large and complex organisation and there was the important option of being based in Newcastle; my hometown, and where my family and I were keen to stay.

I have been with NSW Health Pathology since 2018. Prior to that, I held a range of legal roles in the public and private sectors, including a 10-year stint with CSIRO. I was attracted to the role as I saw a unique opportunity to apply my legal skills and knowledge in a field I am passionate about and deeply committed to.Every day is different, unpredictable, and presents an opportunity for me to learn something new.

I've been the Chief Executive at NSW Health Pathology since December 2012. Prior to this, I was the Director of Clinical Operations at Hunter New England Health and have worked in public health for many decades. I was attracted to the role after being asked to prepare a business model for an integrated statewide public pathology service for the Director General of NSW Health at the time. The exercise convinced me this was an exciting proposition that would bring a lot of value to NSW Health and the broader community we serve.
Pathology is a critical clinical service that is important at all stages of life, including before we are born and after we die. I love leading and working with clever, capable and committed teams who consistently demonstrate our RITE values (Respect, Integrity, Teamwork and Excellence), and our caring, connecting and pioneering spirit.

I have been in this role since mid-2019. Prior to this, I was the acting laboratory manager at a NSW Health Pathology laboratory, and I spent over 10 years working in private pathology in Australia largely in management roles and about 20 years in pathology in New Zealand. I was looking for a new challenge and hoped that with my skill set and experience I could make a difference at a strategic level. I also wanted to be an advocate for the scientific and technical community.
I love working with others at all levels of the organisation and in all portfolios. No two days are the same and I enjoy the variation. It's important to spend time visiting our colleagues in all laboratories across the state, and I really enjoy spending time in the regional areas and getting across to all our metropolitan services.
