However, parametric designs that account for change in architectural space & form is the primary concern of this study. Since Architects are not typically trained in mechanical engineering and design, this project is being developed as an academic resource for students and designers of parametric space. In this study, digital animation tools are used for their pragmatic capacity for discovering, representing and quantifying geometries of dynamic/movable designs, options and versions. This on-going study explores architectural designs that use less than than normal amounts of space by designing environments which support several architectural programs. The problem is framed in normative design terms, with an overlay - if some aspect of the problem can be collapsed and deployed on demand then, this dimension of the problem garners a greater proportion of design investment, which may then provide an opportunity to reduce space, reduce cost and reduce the environmental footprint.
