Patterson Federal Credit Union was chartered in 1957 to serve the employees of Reynolds Metal Company who worked in Gum Springs, Arkansas. The credit union was first operated out of Gum Springs Community Building from 1957 to 1965. In this time period, the credit union experienced considerable growth and decided to purchase land and a temporary office building in Gum Springs, located five miles south of Arkadelphia, with the intention of building a permanent building.
