PLANETWRF

PlanetWRF is a model for numerical simulation of planetary atmospheres and climate systems. It is different from most other planetary atmospheric models in a few ways: it has a generalized map-projection, allowing the model domain to be centered and shaped in lots of different ways, so as to be most applicable to the science question at hand; it has multiscale and nesting capabilities, meaning WRF domains can have extents from a few hundred meters to 10,000's of km, and it can embedded very high-resolution domains within progressively lower-resolution domains on larger scales. As such, WRF eliminates the distinction between global and mesoscale models. In this way, the model enables investigation of coupling between processes on a variety of scales, from global-to-local scales, which can be important for problems such as the onset and expansion of Martian dust storms.
