Phillip Thompson, the firm founder commenced employment in Penrith as an Articled Law Clerk with the firm of Ronald J Mulock which later became R J Mulock Timmins & Co. After Phillip's admission as a Solicitor in 1967, he started his own firm in St Marys and over a period of years that firm grew in size and status progressively being called Thompson Brawn & Associates, Astley Thompson, Astley Thompson & Valtas and lastly Astley Thompson Cox.
