Adam S. Affleck

Adam Affleck's practice focuses on trial and appellate work involving bankruptcy, real estate, contracts, secured transaction, fraud, trade regulation and anti-trust. His bankruptcy experience includes representation of creditors, trustees and debtors in all aspects of liquidation and reorganization proceedings. Mr. Affleck has published and lectured on topics concerning creditor's rights and bankruptcy. Prior to joining Richards Brandt, Adam was a Shareholder for 18 years at Prince Yeates & Geldzahler.

Alex Westover

Alex Westover joined Richard Brandt Miller Nelson's business law, construction, and real estate groups upon graduating from the Brigham Young University, J. Reuben Clark Law School. During law school, Alex served as an Executive Editor on the BYU Law Review and competed on the Moot Court National Team. Her practice focuses on corporate and real estate matters, including business formation, commercial transactions, compliance, women-owned small business certification, landlord/tenant disputes, property use and ownership, and general corporate and transactional law. Barbara Melendez

Barbara chairs the firm's Immigration Law practice group. She focuses primarily on family and employment immigration, as well as employment immigration compliance matters. Barbara is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese.

Bobby is the practice chair for the Healthcare Law section at Richards Brandt. He has focused his legal career representing doctors, hospitals, physicians' assistants, nurses, and other healthcare providers in both Utah and Wyoming. He has devoted his career to the healthcare industry. Bobby sat as a Small Claims Court Judge for the Third Circuit Court, State of Utah, Salt Lake County, Murray Division. He was also appointed by the Utah Supreme Court to sit as a member of the Utah Ethics and Discipline Screening Panel from 1993 to 1996.

Cathy Campbell - Chief Legal Officer

Cathy has served as General Counsel for two international corporations for nearly 30 years in the oilfield services and industrial manufacturing and construction industries. She is now applying her knowledge to counsel small businesses from startup to sale (and everything in between) with the ultimate goal of achieving company profitability while minimizing risk. Cathy can help business owners set up the proper business entity, draft the entity's governing documents as well as third-party contracts to enable business owners to achieve their goals while limiting liability. She has drafted and negotiated numerous of types of commercial business contracts such as terms and conditions of sale/purchase; commercial leases; rep and distributorship agreements; vendor and independent contractor agreements; severance and employment agreements; contractor and subcontractor agreements; and so much more. Mark R. Sumsion - Shareholder

Mark R. Sumsion is a shareholder in the law firm of Richards Brandt Miller Nelson. He received his B.S. degree in Business Management with an emphasis in International Marketing and Japanese from Brigham Young University in 1995, cum laude, and his J.D. degree from BYU in 1998, cum laude. Mr. Sumsion's primary area of practice is workers' compensation. Due to the nature of that work, his practice also involves significant appellate work. Prior to joining Richards Brandt Miller Nelson, Mr. Sumsion worked for a workers' compensation applicant's attorney as a law clerk/associate for three years, giving him a broad perspective on workers' compensation claims. During that time, Mr. Sumsion also mediated numerous employment claims for the UALD regarding claims over wage, sexual harassment and other forms of discrimination. Mr. Sumsion has presented at numerous seminars on various topics concerning workers' compensation. As part of his undergraduate studies, Mr. Sumsion worked for Nippon Polaroid assisting with the marketing and profitability analysis of promotional merchandise.

Matthew C. (Matt) Barneck - Shareholder
