Debra E. Seidman

DEBRA E. SEIDMAN is a partner at Quirk and Bakalor, P.C. Her areas of practice include construction, litigation, products liability, commercial, insurance and appellate. She represents a diverse base of clients, such as property and business owners, construction contractors, insurers, manufacturers, trucking and automobile companies and hotel operators in complex civil defense litigation. Ms. Seidman brings years of courtroom experience to bear on matters involving premises liability, the New York State Labor Law, motor vehicle liability, insurance coverage, products liability and contract disputes. Her practice includes the preparation of pleadings, case investigation, discovery, depositions, dispositive motion practice, settlement negotiations, mediations, trials and appeals. Ms. Seidman joined Quirk and Bakalor, P.C. in 1989. Prior to joining the firm, she worked in the insurance department at Tishman Construction Corporation for three years. Ms. Seidman is admitted to practice in New York, and the U.S. District Court, Southern and Eastern Districts of New York as well as the United States Supreme Court. She is a member of the American Bar Association. Ms. Seidman received her B.A. from the Stony Brook University and her J.D. from St. John�s University School of Law.

Loretta A. Redmond

LORETTA A. REDMOND is a partner at Quirk and Bakalor, P.C. For the almost thirty years, Ms. Redmond has successfully defended clients in all stages of litigation in state and federal court. She represents a broad base of clients, both directly and through insurance, including air carriers, power tool manufacturers, consumer product manufacturers, automotive parts manufacturers, elevator and escalator manufacturers, construction equipment manufacturers, property and business owners, construction managers, general contractors and sub-contractors, individuals and insurers. Ms. Redmond analyzes and evaluates diverse legal and procedural issues such as jurisdiction, standing, existence of or breach of duty, causation, intervening or superseding cause, applicability of federal safety or security regulations, preemption, defamation, slander and libel, intentional interference of business or employment relationships, design and/or manufacturing defect, breach of contract, breach of warranty, and forged signatures, and vacating default judgments. Not only has Ms. Redmond tried several cases to verdict, she also has successfully argued many cases on appeal. Ms. Redmond has substantial experience managing the defense of clients in mass tort litigation including in asbestos litigation. She was part of the defense team representing United Air Lines, Inc. in the litigation arising out of the September 11 Terrorist Attacks since 2002. She coordinated the discovery on behalf of her client in the federal court litigation as well as for the 9/11 Commission, the U.S. Government Commission set up to investigate the events of September 11, 2001. Ms. Redmond joined Quirk and Bakalor, P.C. in 1989. She is admitted to practice in New York, the U.S. District Court, Eastern and Southern Districts of New York and the Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. She has been admitted pro hac vice in the New Jersey State Court. She works with local counsel in other states as well as acts as local counsel for clients in matters in New York. As an advocate of the moot court experience during law school, Ms. Redmond has volunteered as a judge in several National Moot Court Competitions, including programs held by the ABA and NYCBA.

Richard H. Bakalor

RICHARD BAKALOR was a founding member and partner of Quirk and Bakalor, P.C. His areas of practice include litigation, insurance, appellate, products liability and construction.He was a consummate trial and appellate attorney, as well as a mentor, legal advisor, and friend to clients, colleagues, and judges. Mr. Bakalor represented a diverse base of clients such as contractors, insurers, manufacturers and property and business owners. He had many years of courtroom experience on matters involving insurance coverage, products liability and New York State Labor Law. Mr. Bakalor handled cases from inception in the firm through discovery, depositions, motions, trials and appeals.

ROBERT E. QUIRK

ROBERT E. QUIRK was a founding member and partner of Quirk and Bakalor, P.C. Mr. Quirk primarily represented manufacturers and insurers in the defense of asbestos-related matters, including mesothelioma, lung cancer and other malignancies associated with exposure to and ingestion of asbestos contained in various products. He also represented Pan American World Airways in the litigation arising out of the Lockerbie Bombing over Scotland, and a national manufacturer in the repetitive stress injury litigation.

Timothy J. Keane

Timothy J. Keane is not just an accomplished trial and appellate attorney. His greatest value as a professional is his ability to manage, coordinate, and conduct all aspects of litigation with constant focus on the client�s core objectives. Over twenty years he has provided highly effective representation in thousands of matters, primarily in the federal and state courts in the State of New York, and he has taken, defended, and consulted on appeals in the United States Supreme Court, New York State Court of Appeals, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and each Appellate Division of the New York State Supreme Court. Mr. Keane is the President of the Defense Association of New York (DANY), where he established and chairs DANY�s Pro Bono Committee and has been an Officer since 2005 and a Director since 2000. He is a member of the New York State Conference of Bar Leaders (NYSCBL) and was the Defense Research Institute (DRI) New York State Representative from 2005 through 2009. Mr. Keane lectures on issues of interest to the insurance and defense bar for DANY and the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA) and is published in The Defendant.
