Ana Miriam Velly

Ana Miriam Velly is an Associate Professor with the Faculty of Dentistry at McGill University. She was the Director of the Registry for NIH/ NIDCR's Temporomandibular Joint Implant Registry and Repository from 2006 to 2011, and President of the Neurosciences group of the International Association for Dental Research from 2007-2009. Dr. Velly is a dentist with an MS in Neurologic Science and a PhD in public health with an orientation in epidemiology from the Université de Montréal, followed by post-doctoral training in epidemiology from the Department of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Occupational Health, McGill University.

Catherine Ferland

Catherine Ferland is appointed Assistant Professor in the Department of Anesthesia, Associate Member of the Department of Surgery and Principal Investigator in the Integrated Program in Neuroscience at McGill University. Her training has a broaden overview of pain processes from preclinical to clinical studies. With a Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology, she focused her graduate training at Université de Montréal on the neuropathophysiological aspects of musculoskeletal (MSK) pain. She followed with postdoctoral trainings at the Alan Edwards Centre for Research on Pain (McGill), at the Shriners Hospitals for Children-Canada and at Université de Sherbrooke. Throughout the years, she has developed an expertise in translational research and nowadays runs a clinical pain laboratory housed at the Shriners Hospital in the out-patient clinics where sensory testing is performed on a daily basis, and in parallel, a basic science laboratory where patients' physiological samples are being analyzed. She is a Full Member of the Alan Edwards Centre for Research on Pain, the Quebec Pain Research Network and the CIHR-Pain in Child Health Program.

Céline Gélinas

Céline Gélinas is an associate professor of nursing at McGill University and a researcher at the Nursing Research Center and the Lady Davis Institute of the Jewish General Hospital - CIUSSS Center-Ouest-Ile-de-Montréal. She has been a member of the Quebec Pain Research Network (QPRN) since 2007. Her research interests concern the assessment and management of pain in vulnerable critical care clienteles. Through her training, she has also developed expertise in the development and validation of health measures. She is actively involved in the QPRN, particularly in strategic initiatives on opioids and the undesirable effects of analgesics.

Dr Aline Boulanger

Dr Aline Boulanger completed her medical training at Laval University in Quebec City, her specialization in anesthesia at the University of Montreal and a fellowship in the treatment of persistent pain at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. She also holds a master's degree in public health from Harvard University in Boston. She is the director of the CHUM Pain Clinic. She is the medical manager of the Center of Expertise for the Treatment of Chronic Pain at the RUIS of the University of Montreal. Dr Boulanger is a Full Professor in the Department of Anesthesia at the University of Montreal and Director of the University Pain Medicine Program. She is a founding member and vice-president of the Quebec Chronic Pain Association and was president of the Quebec Pain Society.

Francis Beaudry

Francis Beaudry obtained a bachelor's degree in chemistry (Université de Sherbrooke) and a doctorate in medicinal chemistry (Anglia Ruskin University). He continued his research work on the pharmacological treatment of pain in the laboratory of Pr. Pascal Vachon. He took office in June 2009 as an assistant professor in the department of veterinary biomedicine at the University of Montreal. He was a research scientist, senior research scientist, section head and associate director in the bioanalysis department of the company Phoenix International between 1993 and 2003. Francis Beaudry has acquired extensive experience in the field of pharmacokinetics, drug metabolism, mass spectrometry and bioanalysis. He is the author or co-author of 124 publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals and 107 posters presented at national and international scientific congresses since the start of his scientific career.

Gabrielle Fortin

Gabrielle Fortin has been a social worker for nearly 10 years in the fields of psychosocial oncology and palliative care, particularly at Maison Michel-Sarrazin and its Centre de jour. She joined the faculty of the School of Social Work and Criminology at Laval University as a professor in individual and family intervention in January 2020. She is the recipient of several awards and scholarships, including a scholarship from the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Société et Culture, a doctoral scholarship from the Association des femmes graduate de Québec and one from the VITAM Center for Sustainable Health Research. Her research interests focus on psychosocial aspects of health, psychosocial oncology, palliative care, interprofessional collaboration as well as individual and family intervention in the field of health.

Gabrielle Pagé

Gabrielle Pagé holds a doctorate in clinical psychology. She is a junior 1 scholarship researcher from the Fonds de recherche en santé - Québec and an assistant professor in the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine at the University of Montreal. She practices as a psychologist in the Alan Edwards Pain Management Unit at the Montreal General Hospital. Her research interests include the transition from acute to persistent pain, the biopsychosocial determinants of persistent pain development and maintenance, the impact of physical and mental co-morbidities on the experience and management of pain, the association between experience of stress and pain, as well as care trajectories. Her studies are mainly epidemiological and in real life context.

Gilles Lavigne

Gilles Lavigne trained as a dentist from the University of Montreal. After a few years in practice he started a career in pain, bruxism and sleep research. This was supplemented by training in oral medicine at Georgetown University (Washington, USA) and a research internship in neuropharmacology of pain at NIH (Bethesda, USA). He also holds a PhD in trigeminal neurophysiology (University of Toronto). In 2009 he received an honorary doctorate from the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Zurich. He was awarded the Order of Canada in 2019.

Guillaume Léonard

Guillaume Léonard is a Professor at the School of Rehabilitation of the University of Sherbrooke and a researcher at the Center for Research on Aging of the CIUSSS de l'Estrie - CHUS, he is interested in the problem of pain in the elderly. His work aims to better understand the interaction between pain, the motor system and memory, and to improve pain management in seniors. He is particularly interested in the potential of neurostimulation techniques (peripheral neurostimulation, transcranial stimulation) as therapeutic avenues for reducing pain and maximizing physical function in the elderly.

Isabelle Savard

Isabelle Savard is a regular professor at TÉLUQ University, specializing in educational technology. In 2016, she completed a postdoctoral fellowship in educational technology at the Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST), Japan. Her work focuses on the pedagogy of health sciences, instructional design, Culture, identification and consideration of cultural and contextual variables. She is currently the Director of Educational Technology and Distance Education Programs. She completed her doctorate in cognitive computing, a program offered jointly by TÉLUQ and UQAM, in 2014. She completed her master's degree in educational technology at Laval University in 1996. From January 2010 to January 2017, she worked as a Educational advisor at the Faculty of Medicine of Université Laval, where she supported teaching staff and the management of various programs in major program transformations and in the implementation of educational and technopedagogical innovations. Jean-Sébastien Roy

This initiative aims to understand the biopsychosocial risk factors that underlie the transition from acute low back pain to persistentlow back pain in people living in Quebec. The studies will be possible thanks to the creation of a longitudinal database coupled with a biobank which currently has more than 3,500 patients and 13 ongoing sub-projects.

Jeffrey S. Mogil

Jeffrey S. Mogil, Ph.D. is currently the E.P. Taylor Professor of Pain Studies and the Canada Research Chair in the Genetics of Pain, and the Director of the Alan Edwards Centre for Research on Pain at McGill University. Dr. Mogil has made seminal contributions to the field of pain genetics, and is a recognized authority in the fields of sex differences in pain and pain testing methods in the laboratory mouse. He is the recipient of multiple lifetime achievement awards, including the Frederick Kerr Basic Science Research Award from the American Pain Society, and the Donald O. Hebb Award from the Canadian Psychological Association. He served for eight years as Section Editor at the journal, Pain, was the chair of the Scientific Program Committee of the 13th World Congress on Pain, and is currently a Councilor at IASP.

Jennifer Cogan

Dr. Cogan is a staff anesthesiologist at the Montreal Heart Institute (MHI) with a Master's degree in Epidemiology, and Royal College certification in Pain Medicine. Dr. Cogan is director of the Acute and Persistent Pain Team at the MHI. Her research interests cover the evaluation and treatment of acute and persistent pain after cardiac surgery and cardiac related interventions, knowledge transfer to improve patient care as well as treatment of persistent pain in palliative care patients. Additionally, she is interested in the creation, application and evaluation of novel pain reduction techniques after surgery.

Kadija Perreault

Kadija Perreault is a physiotherapist, having worked as a clinician for more than ten years in the public and private sectors. Since 2013, she has been a professor in the Rehabilitation Department at Laval University. She is also a researcher at the Center for Interdisciplinary Research in Rehabilitation and Social Integration (CIRRIS). Her research focuses on the access and organization of rehabilitation services, and the evaluation of services for people living with pain.

He is one of the administrators of the Quebec Association of Chronic Pain and became a patient partner of the RQRD in 2018 for the low back pain initiative. He has since integrated other initiatives and advises researchers on their research projects.

Line Guénette is a researcher at the CHU de Québec-Université Laval Research Center, Population Health and Optimal Health Practices Axis, and Associate Professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy at Laval University. She is also a clinical pharmacist at the CIUSSS de la Capitale-Nationale. Her research program aims to identify and better understand the problems of drug use in the population, particularly among people with diabetes and the elderly. Louis Gendron

Louis Gendron is a professor at the University of Sherbrooke and director of the pharmacology-physiology department. In addition to leading the inflammation-pain axis of CRCHUS, he is Editor-in-Chief of the renowned journal Progress in Neuro-Psychopharmacology & Biological Psychiatry (PNPBP). His main research interests are in the pharmacology of opioids. His laboratory notably combines approaches ranging from in vitro pharmacology to the study of behavior in order to better understand and then improve the therapeutic potential associated with the activation of the opioid delta receptor.

Manon Choinière

Manon Choinière is a researcher at the research center of the Centre hospitalier de l'Université de Montréal and a full professor in the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine at the University of Montreal. Her research, which is funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé, focuses on the assessment and treatment of acute and persistent pain. Manon Choinière has published more than 100 articles in renowned scientific journals and has presented the results of her research at numerous national and international congresses. She is one of the founding members of the Quebec Pain Research Network and the Canadian Chronic Pain Network. Finally, she has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Quebec Chronic Pain Association since its creation.

Marie-Eve Paquet

Marie-Eve Paquet completed her PhD in immunology in 2004 after working under the supervision of David Williams. Her research has focused on the molecular aspects of processing MHC class I antigen in emergency rooms and trafficking to the cell surface. She completed a post-doctoral training in Hidde Ploegh's lab at Harvard and the Whitehead Institute (MIT) where she used her expertise to develop genetically engineered mice to study the translocation processes of proteins from the ER to cytosol and explore the relationship between viruses and the immune system. She then joined CERVO to create a viral vector platform focused on optogenetics. With her team, she now distributes quality vectors to more than 200 laboratories in 12 Canadian universities and 5 institutes as well as several other universities around the world. She is also a member of the executive board of the Canadian Science Platforms Network which was created to network, raise awareness, promote shared science platforms and influence their funding.

Émilie-Paule Savoie

Émilie-Paule Savoie is a pharmacologist by training, she specializes in pain management. Her research program aims to develop training courses adapted to health professionals in order to promote better management of persistent pain. She is particularly interested in the influence of empathy and the quality of neurophysiological and pharmacological knowledge of pain as a modality of intervention on the care approach that professionals will use. Her latest research focuses on evaluating the effectiveness of non-pharmacological interventions to reduce persistent pain. Pre Paul-Savoie also collaborates in research projects that aim to develop, implement and evaluate the effectiveness of new educational approaches in the field of biological sciences.
