Brian M. Chandler - Shareholder

Brian has been a trial lawyer since being licensed to practice law in 1981. Since then, he has tried more than 250 jury cases to verdict. He is experienced in handling a wide range of civil litigation matters and has successfully defended clients in lawsuits involving multiple deaths, catastrophic injuries, and first-party insurance disputes. Brian is actively involved in all aspects of the litigation and appellate process; he has litigated cases in state and federal courts throughout the State of Texas, with two of his cases denied certiorari to the United States Supreme Court and several cases brought before the Supreme Court of Texas, the most recent of which was handed down in 2017 and was a landmark decision regarding the scope of discovery for electronically stored information in civil litigation. Brian has successfully defended clients in cases involving complex legal and factual issues. His current areas of practice include general torts, products liability, employment, commercial, premises liability, and the defense of transportation companies and their drivers. Over the past few years, Brian has litigated a significant number of first-party insurance cases involving contractual and extra-contractual causes of action against the insurance carrier. Brian is particularly experienced in handling cases in mass litigation stemming from catastrophic weather events, which he began doing in 1983 with Hurricane Alicia cases. Since then, he handled Hurricane Rita cases and was appointed as liaison counsel for Hurricane Ike cases and cases arising out of the hail storms in the Rio Grande Valley in 2012. Brian's success is due in part to his commitment to understanding his client's needs generally and with respect to the specific case at hand. He has developed long-terms relationships with many clients, some of which date back to his early years of practicing law - a testament to his client-first approach.

Fred is a shareholder at Ramey, Chandler, Schein, PC. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri and obtained his undergraduate degree from Duke University in Economics and German where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He attended Washington University School of Law and was inducted into the "Order of the Coif" and the "Order of the Barrister" upon graduation. Fred started his legal career in St. Louis and was part of the legal team for the longest running jury trial in American jurisprudence, Kemner v. Monsanto. Fred has been named to the Texas Super Lawyers list (by Thompson Reuters) in the area of Insurance Coverage from 2007 to present and was named as a member of Super Lawyer's Blue Ribbon panel in 2015. He was named as a top lawyer in Insurance Law by American Lawyer Media and Martindale Hubbell in 2013 and 2014. When Fred is not in the office or the courtroom, he travels throughout the country presenting seminars on coverage and extra-contractual issues to his clients. Fred participates in the Houston Bar Association's "Teach Texas" program which teaches 7th graders about the Texas and Federal Court Systems. Fred also teaches two insurance courses at South Texas College of Law Houston. Fred is licensed to practice law in the States of Texas, Missouri and Illinois along with all Federal District Courts in Texas and the Federal Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Jack has practiced almost exclusively in the areas of coverage and appellate law since 1990, except for the occasional foray into civil rights defense or commercial litigation. He is a 1979 graduate of the University of Texas School of law and a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Texas. Jack is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell. Jack joined the firm in 2000, having been a longstanding partner with Brian Chandler since 1981 at a prior law firm. Jack was a board certified personal injury trial lawyer in the 1980s, including maritime and civil rights lawsuits, but left that field in 1990 for an insurance coverage and appellate practice. Jack's work since 1990 has consisted of writing coverage opinions, litigating coverage and extra-contractual lawsuits, and handling appeals. His extra-contractual lawsuits are primarily third party-defending an insurer in a dispute over the existence of liability coverage. Jack has tried at least 30 lawsuits, handled almost 50 appeals, and written or edited more than 1,000 coverage opinions. He seeks to avoid trial via summary judgment yet-unlike many coverage lawyers-he has extensive and successful trial experience.

John is a trial lawyer with over 30 years of courtroom experience. This includes trials in state and federal court. He has been Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law since 1999, a special distinction achieved by less than 2% of the lawyers practicing in Texas. Kyle Chandler graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts from Louisiana State University, where he double majored in German and English with a focus on critical theory. While at LSU, Kyle was active in multiple student organizations, including Student Government Senate, where he was the Vice-Chairman of the Housing, Infrastructure, and Technology Committee, and as a member of the College Council. Kyle also spent a year studying at a top-ten university in Germany, Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen. Kyle took two years off after college to work for a Houston area mediator, where he was exposed to a wide range of litigation, prior to attending the University of Houston Law Center. While in law school, he served as Executive Editor of the International Law Journal, overseeing all aspects of editing articles in preparation for publication and managing sixty law students. He also served as a student justice on the Honor Court, which adjudicates violations of the honor code. Kyle graduated law school in the top third of his class. Kyle has worked in various positions in the legal field since his first job as a file clerk in 2005. He began working full time for Ramey Chandler Schein, P.C. after graduating law school in 2016. Since becoming licensed to practice, Kyle's work has focused on first- and third-party insurance defense, as well handling matters involving business disputes, commercial liability, and premises liability.

Nick Pucillo

Nick Pucillo graduated cum laude from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations and a Certificate in Business. During his time at UT, Nick was involved in numerous student organizations and spent a summer studying abroad in Barcelona, Spain. After graduation, Nick spent a year working for a criminal defense attorney, which is when he decided to pursue a career in the legal profession. Nick moved back home to Houston, Texas to attend law school and graduated from the University of Houston Law Center in the top twenty five percent of his class. While attending law school, Nick clerked for a federal judge at the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas, an appellate judge at the Court of Appeals for the First District of Texas, a commercial litigation firm, and a bankruptcy firm. Nick's practice with Ramey Chandler Schein, P.C. primarily focuses on personal injury and first- and third-party insurance defense.

Robert L. Ramey - Shareholder

Bob has defended a variety of high-dollar exposure lawsuits over the past 30 years, from simple automobile cases to wrongful death trucking accidents, products liability, dental malpractice, medical malpractice, toxic torts, commercial disputes, premises liability and sexual assaults and has taken more than 200 jury verdicts. Bob Ramey and Brian Chandler established Ramey & Chandler, P.C. in 1998. Over the last three decades, the firm's core mandate of counseling clients and preparing a vigorous defense has never wavered. In 2024, Jill Schein became a named partner, a tribute to both her tenure at the firm and exceptional representation of clients. At Ramey Chandler Schein, our experience makes the difference. Terence Anderson

Terence graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree of Bachelor of Business Administration with honors and from the University of Virginia School of Law. After graduating from the University of Texas, he worked in public accounting as an auditor. Terence started his legal career as in house counsel for a Fortune 500 company where he counseled on personal injury, general torts, breach of contract and general litigation matters. He wrote, taught continuing insurance education courses, and drafted numerous coverage opinions. Terence has represented individuals and companies in the areas of general premises liability, implied warranties, contractual disputes, general torts, and deceptive trade practices. He has either tried or assisted in trying the cases to a verdict.

Travis Grosscope

Travis Grosscope graduated magna cum laude from Baylor University in Waco, Texas with a Bachelor of Music in Church Music with a focus on Vocal Studies. While at Baylor, Travis spent much of his time performing with various ensembles, but also served on the Baylor Student Government and as a staff member of two different churches in Waco. During his time in Waco, Travis developed a love for sports and entertainment law that led him to New Orleans to pursue a law degree at Tulane University, which boasts the leading sports law program in the country. There, he became heavily involved in the Tulane Sports Law Society and the Tulane Pro Basketball Negotiation Competition as co-chair of the board, which he helped grow from infancy into the nationally recognized competition it is today. Travis also clerked for a commercial litigation firm and completed an externship with the National Labor Relations Board during his years at Tulane. Travis's practice with Ramey Chandler Schein, P.C. focuses on personal injury and first- and third-party insurance defense.
