Ms. Downes is a senior executive with over 35 years of experience with technology and professional services businesses. She is an experienced advisor with expertise in driving revenue and outperforming cash flow objectives. Ms. Downs is Chief Financial Officer of Constant and Associates as well as a strategic consultant for her own venture, Fide Professions Services. As a leader in accounting and finance, Ms. Downes provided consulting services for Guidehouse, a $1B+ consulting firm, from 2018 to 2019. Known for technical and industry expertise, business development skills, financial sophistication, and governance and risk oversight acumen, Ms. Downes' career also includes roles as Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, and Treasurer at Versar, Inc,, Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Environmental Design International Inc., and Vice President of Finance of GDI Advanced Protection Solutions. Dr. Gisele Bennett

Dr. Gisele Bennett brings extensive experience in basic and applied R&D to Riverside Research's Board of Trustees. Across multidisciplinary programs, Dr. Bennett's research experience includes work supporting industry, federal, international, and Department of Defense (DOD) customers. Dr. Bennett is co-Founder and managing member of MEPSS LLC, a software-based startup for decision support and automation. She is a member of the Army Science Board, the Editor-in-Chief for Applied Optics, a member of the Strategic Planning Committee for Optica, and a member of the AIP Investment Advisory Committee. Dr. Bennett has over 30 years' experience in applied research through academic, industry, and government projects. As the former Associate Vice President for Research, Faculty Integration, at Georgia Tech and as the Senior VP for Strategic and Research Initiatives at FIT, she increased the research collaborations across the institute between basic and applied research. As the Director for the Electro-Optical Systems Laboratory at Georgia Tech Research Institute, she expanded the research portfolio in the areas of optical imaging systems, EO modeling and simulation, LIDAR development for sensing, Active-EO Systems, and IoT sensor systems. Her academic appointments included Regents' Researcher, Professor in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and the Glenn Robinson Chair in Electro-Optics. She served on the board of directors for Optica (formally OSA) and was the President for the IEEE Council on RFID. She has patents, numerous publications, and contributes to ISO in developing standards for shipping container monitoring. She is a Fellow with OSA and SPIE. She has received numerous awards to include Superior Civilian Service Medal, Department of the Army, the second highest award of the Department of the Army and the Commander's Award for Public Service, Department of the Army. Dr. Bennett holds a BSE and an M.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Central Florida. She earned her PhD in electrical engineering and Certificate in Management of Technology from Georgia Institute of Technology.

Dr. Jeffrey Pursel

As Vice President of Technology Development, Dr. Jeffrey Pursel is a key strategic leader at Riverside Research, charged with aligning strategy, technology roadmaps, customer engagement, cross-functional collaboration, intellectual property, and technical risk management across the company to bridge the gap between our enterprise-wide $14M independent research and development program and the specific mission needs of our customers. Dr. Pursel has held several prior roles in his over 25 years with Riverside Research. This includes leading the Open Innovation Center, where he leveraged experience in research and development supporting Department of Defense and Intelligence Communities to oversee a collection of laboratories pursuing multidisciplinary R&D efforts focused on developing and maturing innovative technologies with customers to enhance our nation's security and interests. Earlier, Dr. Pursel served as a member of the research staff and ultimately Director of the Electromagnetics Laboratory. He is a senior subject matter expert in the areas of electromagnetic signature, scattering, multi-objective design optimization, and computational algorithm development and tuning. He has extensive experience in the development of highly efficient software for computational electromagnetics applications and design optimization tools. He was the principal architect of novel design tools that integrated optimization algorithms, computational prediction engines, and scriptable CAD tools employed to enhance system performance and mission impacts. Dr. Pursel holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from California State University Fresno and an MS and PhD in Engineering Science specializing in computational electromagnetics from University of Mississippi.

Dr. Neil McCasland

Dr. Neil McCasland is an independent consultant supporting clients in the DOD, DOE, and related industries. He most recently served as the Director of Technology at Blue Halo Applied Technology Associates, a small business providing directed energy weapons, space optical communications, precision inertial instrumentation and engineering technical services. Dr. McCasland retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Major General after a 34-year career. He culminated his Air Force career as Commander, Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, where he led the USAF's $4B science and technology program, commanding an organization of 10,000 people. He had served in the Pentagon on both the OSD and Air Force staffs leading acquisition and special program oversight offices. Dr. McCasland's Air Force career spanned multiple NRO and Air Force space acquisition programs. Dr. McCasland holds a B.S. in astronautical engineering from the U.S. Air Force Academy and earned his PhD and M.S. from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His graduate research was supported by the Fannie and John Hertz Foundations. He is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and an associate fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA).

Dr. Reginald Brothers

Dr. Reginald "Reggie" Brothers joined the Riverside Research Board of Trustees in June 2017. He is an exceptional organizational leader and strategist with over 30 years of demonstrated success across the science and technology ecosystem of academia, industry, laboratories, and the Department of Defense (DOD). Dr. Reginald Brothers is an Operating Partner at AE Industrial, bringing over 25 years of experience in the defense, government services and technology industries. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of AE Industrial portfolio companies: American Pacific Corporation and Redwire. Prior to joining AE, Dr. Brothers served as the CEO of BigBear.ai, in which brings together leading-edge data management, analytics, artificial intelligence, cloud technologies, and cybersecurity and computer network operations to deliver advanced decision support solutions to government and business leaders. He also held successive executive roles as the CTO of Peraton and a Principle with The Chertoff Group. Prior to that, he served as Under Secretary for Science and Technology at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, where he was responsible for a science and technology portfolio that included basic and applied research, development, demonstration, testing and evaluation with the purpose of helping DHS operational elements and the nation's first responders achieve their mission objectives. From 2011 to 2014, Dr. Brothers served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Research at the Department of Defense. In this position, he was responsible for policy and oversight of the department's science and technology programs and laboratories. He has also held senior roles at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), BAE Systems, Draper Laboratory, and MIT Lincoln Laboratory. Dr. Brothers has been awarded five patents and the Office of the Secretary of Defense Medal for Exceptional Public Service. Dr. Brothers is a member of the Department of the Air Force Science Advisory Board, a Distinguished Fellow of the Georgetown University Center for Security and Emerging Technology, a member of the MIT Lincoln Laboratory Advisory Board, and a member of the MIT Visiting Committee for Sponsored Research.

James Whitten

Jim and his security and facility teams manage all aspects of facility operations and maintenance while upholding all security standards and government accreditations to deliver modern, secure facilities for our employees to work in. Jim Whitten, USAF (ret), joined Riverside Research in April 2008 and has held his current role since 2012. Jim has been involved in the construction and accreditation of all the company's current offices. Jim has more than 35 years' experience in security management. Before joining Riverside Research, he served on active duty for 21 years as a Security Specialist in the U.S. Air Force holding key management positions in electronic, information, personnel, physical, and program security. He possesses experience constructing and obtaining accreditation of secure facilities at all classification levels and holds a track record of creating and maintaining outstanding security programs. Past positions also include building and standing up the Advanced Technical Intelligence Center and providing subject matter expertise to the National Air and Space Intelligence Center. A native of New York, Jim is a chess player and enjoys working on muscle cars in his spare time. He received an Associate in applied science in security administration from the Air Force in 1998, a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice from Park University in 2002, and an MBA from Touro University in 2006.

Jeffrey K. Harris

Currently the Chair of the Open Geospatial Consortium Board of Directors and the CEO of JKH Consulting, Mr. Harris has contributed significant advancements to national security throughout his career in both the public and private sectors. Previously the President of Missiles and Space, President of Special Programs, and a corporate officer at Lockheed Martin, Mr. Harris has accumulated extensive experience in aerospace, defense, and intelligence. Prior to his career in the private sector, he provided direct support to both the U.S. Secretary of Defense and the Director of Central Intelligence in several senior leadership positions within the US government, including Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Space, Director of the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), and Associate Executive Director of the Intelligence Community Management Staff. Mr. Harris has received numerous awards, most notably the National Intelligence Distinguished Service Medal, the CIA Distinguished Service Medal, the NRO Medal for Distinguished Service, the USGIF Lifetime Achievement Award, NDIA's Peter B. Teets space industry achievement award, and the James V. Hartinger Award for military space achievement. Harris is a member of the U.S. Strategic Command's (USSTRATCOM) Strategic Advisory Group, a Sandia External Advisory Board and the Chair-elect for the Rochester Institute of Technology. Mr. Harris holds a B.S. in photographic science and instrumentation from the Rochester Institute of Technology. He serves on several corporate boards.

John L. Giering

Mr. John Giering, a trustee since 2013, is a retired Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of NCR Corporation. He has served in controllership, finance, administration, and general management positions for NCR with assignments in Ohio and Europe. Prior to joining NCR, he was a senior audit manager with PricewaterhouseCoopers. A Certified Public Accountant, Mr. Giering was recognized as the Outstanding Member in Industry by The Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants in 1990. He received the Outstanding Alumnus Award of the Omicron Chapter of Beta Alpha Psi, an accounting honorary, at The Ohio State University in 1992 and received the 1992-3 Alliance/NCR Partnership Award from the Dayton Area Chapter of The Alliance of Black Telecommunications Employees, Inc. Mr. Giering served on the Board of Directors and was chair of the Audit Committee for a financial institution that had operations in Ohio, Florida, South Carolina and Colorado. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the holding company of that financial institution. He previously served on the Board of Advisors for a vision care company with offices in Ohio and Pennsylvania. Volunteering in the community is a high priority for Mr. Giering. He was recognized as the Outstanding Community Volunteer in 2003 by Dayton Culture Works and the Outstanding Company Chairperson of the 1990 United Way campaign in Dayton. Mr. Giering served as Chair of the Board of Riverside Research from 2017 until 2021. Mr. Giering holds a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Duke University and a master's degree in accounting from The Ohio State University. Kathie Powers - CFO

Powers brings to Riverside nearly 30 years of experience driving continuous financial and operational improvements and implementing accounting processes and systems. Her background includes significant controller, CFO, and financial roles at companies such as Innovim, Tatum, Science Applications International Corp, SAIC, and Lockheed Martin. In the spirit of Riverside Research's mission, Kathie enjoys finding ways to use technology to support the business: quicker, faster, smarter ways for everyone to do their jobs. Lisa J. Porter

Dr. Lisa Porter was elected to join the Riverside Research Board of Trustees in August 2020. She received her bachelor's in nuclear engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and a doctorate in applied physics from Stanford University. Having accumulated over 20 years of experience with technology-based businesses supporting both national security and commercial customers, Dr. Porter has held both technical and leadership roles. She began working at MIT in 1994 and continued to build her career at the Institute for Defense Analyses, Logos Technologies, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), Teledyne Scientific & Imaging, and In-Q-Tel. Notably, she was the first Director of the Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity (IARPA) in the ODNI and was the Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (DUSD (R&E)). As the former DUSD(R&E), she was responsible for the research, development, and prototyping activities across the Department of Defense enterprise. Dr. Porter is currently the Co-President and Co-Founder of LogiQ, Inc., where she provides high-end management, scientific, and technical consulting services.

A widely recognized and accomplished professional, Mary has over 27 years' experience in commercial and government program management, technical and business operations, Air Force acquisition, and strategic planning, and analysis. She is a community-recognized domain expert in the areas of business development, concept development, implementation, technical support, and advisory services. Due to her efforts, Mary has earned the respect of key personnel within the Air Force Research Laboratory, Department of Defense (DOD), academia, and industry, along with the Secretary of the Air Force Acquisitions Office and the National Air and Space Intelligence Center. A native of Kentucky, Mary earned a bachelor's degree in computer science and business administration from Sullivan University in 1999 and an associate of applied science in sales and marketing from Sullivan in 1998. In her spare time, Mary enjoys spending time with her family and baking tasty treats.

Mr. Alfred Grasso

Mr. Alfred Grasso, a board member since 2019, is a technical leader and strategist supporting a multitude of DoD missions over his 40-year career. He is the former President and CEO of The MITRE Corporation, a not-for-profit company operating federally funded research and development organizations. He held the position from 2006-2017, during which he led the corporation's overall strategic and business operations, overseeing growth to a revenue of $1.6B, 8,200 employees, two major campuses, and over 60 domestic and international locations. Mr. Grasso continues to support the organization by serving as a consultant. Mr. Grasso holds several accolades, publications, and has an extensive board membership background. He was elected to the Board of Directors of NetScout Systems, Inc., in 2018. NetScout Systems, Inc., a publicly traded company, provides operational intelligence and performance analytics for service assurance and cyber security solutions. Mr. Grasso is a member of the Virginia Academy of Science, Engineering and Medicine and was elected to the Board of Directors in 2020. He is serving his second 3-year term as a member of the National Academy of Science Government, University, and Industry Research Roundtable where he was elected industry co-chair in 2018. He is a former member of the Defense Science Board and of the Army Science Board and he is a Permanent Director and Executive Committee member of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) International's Board of Directors where he served as Chairman from 2012 to 2014 and Vice Chairman from 2010 to 2012. He earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and a master's degree in computer science from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Mr. James D. Shields was elected to the Riverside Research Board of Trustees in April 2015. Having accumulated over 25 years of executive leadership experience with technology-based businesses supporting both Department of Defense and commercial customers, Mr. Shields specializes in strategic planning, business development, and growth. Mr. Shields is the former president and chief executive officer of Draper Laboratory, a leading not-for-profit resource for guidance, navigation, and control technology. In his 13-year tenure at Draper Laboratory, he created programs and established efforts to broaden the sponsor base through focusing the application of Draper capabilities on new problems in biomedical, energy, and intelligence systems to complement the Laboratory's traditional national security and space efforts. Prior to his time at Draper Laboratory, Mr. Shields spent 29 years with TASC, where he held several director-level positions and spent thirteen years as Vice President. Presently, Mr. Shields is a director of Aerodyne Research and on the board of advisors for Benchmark Space Systems and Assured Enterprises Inc. He is a Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics and a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. Mr. Shields earned both his B.S. and M.S. in electrical engineering from MIT. He has also completed several leadership development programs for senior executives offered by the Harvard Business School.

Ms. Angelina Rouse

Steven R. Omick - CEO, President

Dr. Steven Omick is President and CEO of Riverside Research. He has over 28 years of research and executive leadership experience in the private sector and defense and intelligence industries. During his tenure at Riverside Research, Dr. Omick has focused on the goal of building a research and development portfolio with mission impact in the National Security arena. Central to that goal is the formalization of the innovation engine for the company - The Open Innovation Concept, or OIC. Under this independent R&D framework, Riverside Research is investing in AI/ML, Secure and Resilient Systems, Optics, Electromagnetics, RF Systems, and Commercial ISR. Prior to joining Riverside Research, Dr. Omick was President of Applied Communications Sciences (ACS), where he led customer growth at DARPA and with other National Security R&D customers. He also established a framework for the commercialization of intellectual property and facilitated the integration of ACS into its parent company, Vencore. Before that, Dr. Omick was President and CEO of Rincon Research Corporation (RRC), a leading provider of digital signal processing products and engineering services for the US government intelligence community. He first joined RRC in 1996 as a research engineer designing, developing, and fielding prototype digital communications capabilities. A published author in the field of computational electromagnetics, Dr. Omick also served on the faculty of New Mexico State University where he taught electrical engineering courses and led research programs. Dr. Omick holds a B.S. in electrical engineering, an M.S. specializing in power and control systems, and a PhD in computational electromagnetics from New Mexico State University.

Stu Shea

Mr. Shea is currently President, Chairman, and Chief Executive Officer of Peraton, a next generation national security company. Stu is the former President and Chief Operating Officer of Leidos and a principal architect in the creation of Leidos while serving as COO of SAIC. Mr. Shea also led SAIC's support to the national security community as President, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance and previously served as the Vice President and Executive Director of Space & Intelligence at Northrop Grumman TASC and Technical Director of PAR Government Systems Corporation. He also served as an Imagery Analyst & Remote Sensing Specialist with the Kansas Applied Remote Sensing Program of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's (NASA) Space Technology Center. Stu is the founder of the United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF) and the highly acclaimed GEOINT Symposium. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the National Intelligence University Foundation. Mr. York was elected to join the Riverside Research Board of Trustees in March 2016. Mr. York brings a wealth of executive and board of director and trustee experience to the Board, along with having served most recently on the Board of the Riverside Research small business for-profit subsidiary, Applied Research Solutions (ARS), since its inception in 2013. Mr. York was President of the Burndy Corporation for ten years, Executive Vice President of Framatome Connectors International for five years, and President of Saber Equipment Corporation for two years. His corporate board experience includes Burndy Corporation, Nihon Burndy (a JV company), Saber Equipment, Robroy Industries, ARS, Canine Fence Company, and PCD Inc. Mr. York was the Chairman of the Robroy Compensation Committee and was previously the Chair of the PCD Audit Committee. He has also served on several non-profit association boards. Mr. York brings an extensive background in general management, board level oversight, and operations. Mr. York earned a Bachelor of Science degree in management engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and completed the Advanced Management Program at the Harvard Business School.

Timothy Waltz

Tim Waltz leads a $35M+ portfolio of technical services and solutions to the Defense and Intelligence Communities (IC) in both the R&D and Mission Support arenas. Tim has over 20 years of leadership, engineering, and management experience across a broad range of customers and technical domains. He has worked onsite contractor leadership roles within the Intelligence Community (IC) at National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), and National Reconnaissance Office (NRO). In addition, he has led research efforts at Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), and across the IC. Tim holds a master's degree in systems engineering from George Washington University and a bachelor's degree in aviation from Concordia University. Tim also served in the United States Navy where he flew multiple types of aircraft, including single engine turboprop, multi-engine turboprop, and single engine jet aircraft. Additionally, Tim is an adjunct professor of strategic intelligence at the Patrick Henry College, Purcellville, VA.

William Walls

As the Director of Information Technology, Bill Walls is responsible for the engineering, implementation, and operation of a wide variety of information systems supporting cutting-edge research and mission support at all classification levels. Bill Walls joined Riverside Research in November 2008 and has held his current role since 2020. Bill has nearly 20 years' experience providing IT solutions with a focus in supporting the Department of Defense and Intelligence Community. Throughout Bill's tenure with Riverside Research, he has been instrumental in the transformation of the company's IT operations to support a doubling-in- size as well as an expansion of R&D efforts conducted across geographically disparate locations. Leading the way with vastly expanded secure system connectivity while setting a framework for the future through the establishment of a dedicated information security organization, Bill has ensured that Riverside Research is positioned to provide secure, compliant, connected mission support.
