Dr. Murphy graduated with a biology degree from Wilkes University and a doctorate in optometry from Salus University (formerly the Pennsylvania College of Optometry). She has served the Eastern Shore since 1991 and has extensive experience fitting all medically necessary contacts, from gas permeable to scleral and keratoconus lenses.
She previously served as president of the Delmar Lions Club and chairman of its Diabetes Committee. In addition, she served two terms as the secretary of the Maryland State Board of Optometry, which is responsible for licensing and disciplining optometrists within the state.
Dr. Jolley has been serving clients on the Eastern Shore since he moved back in 1990. He obtained his degree from the University of Pittsburgh and Pennsylvania College of Optometry. After graduating, he did a year of residency at the Baltimore VA Hospital.
He once served on the Quality Enhancement and Improvements Committee with the Maryland State Board of Optometry. During his tenure, he would review and oversee the quality of care provided by all state-licensed optometrists. He also served on the National Board of Examiners in Optometry, evaluating doctors' testing for licensure.
In 2022, Coastal Life recognized Dr. Jolley as the Best Optometrist on Maryland's Eastern Shore.
Dr. Bortnick is a therapeutic optometrist who graduated from the New England College of Optometry. He did two 3-month internships: one at a VA hospital outside of Boston, MA, and another at the Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem, Israel.
He moved to the Eastern Shore in 1977 and eventually became the owner of Salisbury & Berlin Optical in 1990. Since then, he has strived to maintain a family-friendly practice prioritizing quality care for each patient.
Robert Holland has been working in eye care for over 15 years. He started out working in an optical practices surfacing lab and became manager in 3 years overseeing all manufacturing of patients lenses. He then trained as an optician and eventually managed the front of the store. He came onboard at Salisbury Optical in 2018 to help oversee their lab and lend aid to their front office. In 2022 he was named General Manager at Salisbury Optical to help oversee both their Salisbury and Berlin campuses. He thoroughly enjoys his job working at Salisbury Optical and looks forward to the future of the practice in the coming years. While not at work Robert enjoys spending time with his wife and son camping and at Disney World.
Vanessa White was born and raised on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and has called Salisbury home for the majority of her adult life. She is a proud mother of two daughters and a doting grandmother to four. Outside of work, Vanessa is passionate about line dancing and dedicates her time as an instructor. She also gives back to the community through her active involvement with (Elks) IBPOE of the World. With an impressive tenure of over 30 years in the eye care industry, Vanessa has held various roles ranging from a front desk receptionist to an optician, specializing in measuring and fitting frames and lenses. She has also managed multiple offices throughout her career. Vanessa takes pride in forming genuine connections with her patients, many of whom she now considers lifelong friends. She is deeply committed to her role in the eye care industry and eagerly anticipates the many more years she will spend serving the community.
