Alan Azevedo-McCaffrey

Alan Azevedo-McCaffrey is an associate attorney with the San Diego Elder Law Center. He graduated from UC San Diego with his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a minor in History. He later earned his Juris Doctorate from Seattle University School of Law. During his time in law school, Alan took part in numerous public interest-oriented internships. After graduating law school, Alan worked as an estate planning attorney at the non-profit Housing and Economic Rights Advocates. As an attorney with San Diego Elder Law Center, Alan assists with Medi-Cal and public benefits planning, asset preservation, conservatorships, trust & estate planning, special needs trusts, probate administration, and trust administration. Alan's favorite aspect of law practice is working with clients to help them better understand their legal issues and empowering them with that knowledge to overcome those issues. Alan is a big believer in collaboration, and he values the camaraderie and teamwork he has with his colleagues at San Diego Elder Law Center. Outside of law practice, Alan enjoys spending time with his friends, family, and pets. He is also an avid music fan. He spends as much of his possible free time playing his guitar and drums, and he is most at peace when listening to live music.

Phil is a former Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of San Diego School of Law, having taught primarily in the areas of Conservatorship and Mental Health Law. He is currently a Pro Tem Judge for the Central Division of the Probate Court of the Superior Court of San Diego. Phil has worked with many consumer groups and organizations over the years, including the California Advocates for Nursing Home Reform (CANHR), Alzheimer's San Diego, Parkinson's Disease Association, and the California and San Diego County Mental Health Associations. He is a current board member of the Special Needs Trust Foundation. He founded San Diego Elder Law Center in 1997. Philip's expertise in elder, disability and special needs law, and his passion for the needs of elders, those with disabilities, their families, and their caregivers, makes him a frequent and popular speaker to professional and lay groups.

Scott Templeton is an attorney with San Diego Elder Law Center. He graduated from the University of California at San Diego with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and received his Juris Doctorate from the University of San Diego School of Law. Prior to joining the team here, Scott spent over a decade prosecuting complex derivative and class action litigation aimed at protecting consumers and curbing corporate and fiduciary misconduct. Scott is driven to try to make the world better every day. He joined the San Diego Elder Law Center to fulfill his passion for helping people, and he strives to provide exceptional, compassionate, and personalized services to each and every client. When Scott is not working, he spends his free time cooking, traveling, hosting travelers from around the world, enjoying the cabin he built with his family in Big Sur, and relaxing with his wonderful wife and their two pugs.
