Andrew J. Savage, III

Andy Savage is a Fellow in the American Board of Criminal Lawyers (since 2017). Prior to entering private practice in 1981, Andy was a prosecutor for the State of South Carolina, serving as Chief Trial Counsel of the South Carolina Attorney General's Office, Criminal Division. He was elected to two four- year terms as a member of the Charleston County Council, from 1986 to 1994, and he is a retired Lt. Colonel, Judge Advocate General, with the United States Air Force Reserve. Andy was the first South Carolina criminal defense attorney to be board Certified as a Criminal Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. Andy has held an "AV" rating in Martindale-Hubbell since 1990, has been named yearly in the "Best Lawyers in America" since 1991 in the practice area of Criminal Defense - both white- collar and non-white collar areas. He is a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers, a Fellow in the American Board of Criminal Lawyers, and has been named yearly as a SuperLawyer since 2008. Andy was the recipient of the 2013 Leadership in Law Award presented by South Carolina Lawyers Weekly. A former legal analyst for the Charleston CBS affiliate,he also was the host of the Emmy award winning The Savage Report, a weekly public affairs which broadcast on Comcast cable television. He is a frequent lecturer at South Carolina law schools and professional education programs. Andy is a member of the Charleston County Bar Association, the South Carolina Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and he is a charter member of the South Carolina Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He is also a member of the Advisory Board for the National Child Abuse Defense and Resource Center and a permanent member of the Fourth Circuit Judicial Conference. Andy has been appointed to a number of Supreme Court committees during his career including appointments to the Chief Justice's Commission on the Profession and a task force to revise the South Carolina Rules of Criminal Procedure. He is a former Commissioner on the South Carolina Commission on Indigent Defense and is the past Chairman of the Charleston County Aviation Authority. Andy's hometown is Kingston, New York. He and his wife Cheryl live in Charleston, SC and have four children and ten grandchildren.

Cheryl L. Savage

Cheryl is the wife of Andy Savage and is a native Charlestonian. She attended Converse College and has been with Savage Law Firm since 1986. Cheryl is responsible for in-court litigation support, the firm's case management system, and all financial transactions and accounts.

Heather Hill

Heather Hill was raised in Moncks Corner, South Carolina and attended the College of Charleston. She has worked in the Charleston legal community since 1986. Heather first began her tenure with Savage Law Firm in February 1988. Heather works as a paralegal on criminal cases with our firm. Heather is a member of the Charleston Association of Legal Assistants (CALA) and former elected Board member.

Morgan Wenzel

Morgan was raised in Moncks Corner, South Carolina, and she is a graduate of Berkeley High School. She attended Charleston Southern University with a double major in Kinesiology and Health Promotion. Morgan has been with the Savage Law Firm since April 2015.

Sara J. Duncan

Sara joined the Savage Law Firm in July 2013. She is a native of Summerville, South Carolina and graduated from Stratford High School. Sara has extensive experience in customer service and hospitality and holds a degree from Johnson & Wales University.

V. Joseph Cannarella

Joseph received his Bachelor of Arts degree in criminal justice and political science from the University of South Carolina and his law degree from the Charleston School of Law. Prior to attending law school, Joseph graduated from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy and served as a state law enforcement agent with the South Carolina Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services in Charleston County. After gaining extensive experience within the criminal justice system as a law enforcement officer and having a strong passion for helping others in need, Joseph decided to further his career by obtaining his law degree and entering the practice area of criminal defense. During law school, Joseph received the CALI award for excellence in Advance Legal Research. Joseph was also a member of the Honor Council, served as co-editor-in-chief of the Maritime Law Bulletin, and completed over 300 hours of Pro Bono services. Joseph is a member of the American Bar Association, South Carolina Bar Association, Charleston County Bar Association, and National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Joseph is a native of Hartsville, South Carolina, and his wife, Casi, is a native of Charleston, South Carolina. They currently reside in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina with their black Labrador retriever.
