Jason Curry, CEO of sComm, and his father David Curry, co-founder, were sitting in a local restaurant having coffee in 2002 and discussing investment properties in real estate. A problem arose. David was an insurance salesman who was on the road for most of Jason's childhood and because he was working hard to support his family, he wasn't always there for the weekly sign classes the rest of the family and neighborhood attended. Sure, David could sign, but not fast enough to have the complex conversation necessary to discuss investment properties. What should have been a 30-minute discussion ended up taking three hours. That was unacceptable.
That same day, David came up with the idea for the UbiDuo. He sketched a simple drawing on the whiteboard hanging in the family's kitchen. His vision for a simple, yet revolutionary product would forever change the way he communicated with his deaf son.
