Alyson Ferguson - COO

Alyson oversees the operations, grant and project portfolios at the Foundation, including having advisory roles to several organizations implementing Mental Health First Aid initiatives and providing technical assistance to the Foundation's many partners. Alyson previously contracted with the Brandywine Health Foundation to manage their youth philanthropy program. She completed the Lebow Leading for Change Fellowship in 2016, which recognized Philadelphia's emerging public sector leaders. She has also been a Grantmakers In Health Terrance Keenan Institute Fellow and was named one of Main Line Today's 2017 Women on the Move. Alyson holds a Master of Public Health from the Drexel University Dornsife School of Public Health and a Bachelor of Science in Health Behavior Sciences and Biological Sciences from the University of Delaware. Ashley Feuer-Edwards

Ashley Feuer-Edwards is the Founder and Principal of AFE Strategies, a consulting practice she started in 2017 to help nonprofit, philanthropic, and public sector clients in Philadelphia move their ideas to action with strategic program design and execution. Her practice areas include funding collaboratives and participatory funding models, strategic plans and resource development strategies, capacity building programs, and large scale events. Drawing on her passion for engaging and lifting up community voices, a core area of her current work involves directing the Kensington Community Resilience Fund, a community-led, participatory funding model focused on promoting wellness, building resilience, and improving the quality of life for residents most impacted by the ongoing opioid crisis in Philadelphia. Prior to launching AFE Strategies, Ashley served as the Director of Programs and Strategic Partnerships with Philanthropy Network Greater Philadelphia, led various strategic planning and business development activities for JEVS Human Services, and served as a Project Manager and Business Development Manager for economic consulting firm Econsult Corporation. She currently serves on the boards of Pan American Academy Charter School in Eastern North Philadelphia and Ryan's Case for Smiles. Ashley holds a Master of Public Administration degree and Politics Certificate from the University of Pennsylvania's Fels Institute of Government and Bachelor's degrees in Sociology and Advertising from Penn State University.

Caitlin Butler

Caitlin Butler is an arts and nonprofit leader with nearly two decades of experience. Caitlin is currently based in Philadelphia, PA, where she supports organizations across the U.S. as an independent consultant. She collaborates with nonprofit leaders navigating moments of change or growth within their organizations. She devises processes that produce the data and insight leaders need to make informed, thoughtful decisions and to chart a path forward. Prior to forming her business in 2020, Caitlin served as Chief Strategy Officer for Mural Arts Philadelphia. At Mural Arts, she was charged with understanding and communicating evolving needs and opportunities in the external landscape, and played an active role-along with the rest of the Executive team-facilitating the design of new programs, projects, and initiatives, as well as securing resources for these and ongoing operational needs. Caitlin has a BA in Sociology from Swarthmore College and a joint MA in Art Education and Public Administration from The Ohio State University, where she was a Graduate Fellow.

Caitlin O'Brien

Contact Caitlin about the Community Fund for Immigrant Wellness, the Annual Innovation Award, and trauma-informed programming. Caitlin brings her experience in community organizing and direct service to her role as Director of Learning and Community Impact. She provides support and technical assistance to organizations throughout Greater Philadelphia, and aids the Foundation in its efforts to build connections and collaboration across sectors. Initiatives she has coordinated include the Community Fund for Immigrant Wellness, the Philadelphia Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) Task Force, and the Pottstown Trauma-Informed Community Connection. Additionally, she partnered with other regional funders to develop two volumes of Trauma-Informed Philanthropy: A Funder's Resource Guide to Trauma-Informed Practice in Greater Philadelphia. Caitlin holds a Master of Public Health from the Drexel University Dornsife School of Public Health and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Geography from the University of Vermont. Chris Arlene

Chris Arlene is the Principal of Chris Arlene Consulting, a Philadelphia-based consulting practice that provides analysis, strategy and project management to develop, implement and execute strategic priorities. Chris has developed a portfolio of Philadelphia-area and national engagements with local governments and nonprofit organizations, including the United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey, National Association of Counties and the City of Philadelphia. Prior to founding his practice, Chris led strategic initiatives in the Office of the Superintendent for the School District of Philadelphia, supported local governments as a Senior Analyst with PFM Group Consulting and served in a number of roles with City Year Philadelphia. Chris holds a Bachelor of Arts, with honors, in American Studies from Penn State University and a Master in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School. He serves on the Board of Trustees for the Free Library of Philadelphia, Youth Sentencing and Reentry Project, and Youth Service, Inc. Chris currently serves as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Reserve, where he is currently assigned to the 404th Civil Affairs Battalion (Airborne) at Joint Base MDL, NJ. Chris lives in the North Philadelphia neighborhood of Francisville with his partner Edisa and their dog Chance the Rescue.

Derrick M. Gordon

Derrick is a Senior Evaluation Consultant with YaleEVAL and the Director of Research, Policy, and Program on Male Development at The Consultation Center. Derrick is known for his expertise in collaborating with community-based programs to evaluate the services they provide, broaden the mental health supports in community contexts, and for his work focused on men on color socially on the fringes (e.g., low-income fathers, men transitioning from incarceration, young fathers). In his work with these men, he focuses on documenting the services they receive, how data can provide rigorous and systematic feedback to improve services, and increasing their participation across a number of spheres (e.g., family, community life). Trained as a clinical and community psychologist, Derrick is experienced in conducting program evaluations, needs assessments, and evaluations of service delivery systems. Derrick is an Associate Professor whose scholarly work attempts to bring his evaluation and program consultation tools into the academic sphere though the exploration of questions relevant in community context and most applicable to the growth and the development of men and men of color.

Dr. Esther Hio-Tong Castillo

Dr. Esther Hio-Tong Castillo is a mental health and social justice advocate with expertise in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) matters. She has nearly two decades of working experience in education as a teacher, counselor, community advocate and faculty in various educational settings, including early childhood education, youth programs, adult education and higher education. In 2020, Dr. Castillo founded the Chinese Immigrant Families Wellness Initiative (CIFWI) at the Philadelphia Chinatown Development Corporation---an innovative community-based program dedicated to breaking barriers to mental wellness in Asian immigrant communities. As a biracial queer woman, first-generation college student and 1.5 generation immigrant, Dr. Castillo's identity and life story has strengthened her dedication to improving mental wellness and equities for underserved communities, focusing on immigrant and Asian communities.

Georgia Kioukis

Georgia Kioukis, PhD, brings deep experience providing insight and strategic decision-making for program development and continuous improvement for K-12 and higher education administrators, non-profit and philanthropic leaders, community members, and other stakeholders. She has worked in very distinct environments in her prior professional roles, ranging from a State Legislature to a higher education office to a non-profit school-based youth development organization to, most recently, a workforce development and adult literacy provider. In each setting and role, she has been able to effectively lead colleagues and clients in use of data for learning and continuous improvement. She spent six years at Equal Measure, a research and evaluation professional services firm, where she successfully led all aspects of diverse evaluation/applied research projects, including proposal writing, theory of change development, evaluation planning, instrument design, data collection, management, analysis, and report writing and thought leadership. As an independent consultant, she has worked on providing evaluation assistance, including theory of change development and program planning, to the Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregivers and new program implementation support to JEVS Human Services.

Glenda Wrenn Gordon

Glenda Wrenn Gordon is President of Mindoula Clinical Services, a Maryland-based behavioral health management company. Her expertise is in advancing resilience and health equity, culturally-centered integrated care, and value-based behavioral health system innovation. In addition to the Scattergood Foundation, she currently serves on the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) National Board as well as the NCQA board. She has served on the HHS Secretary's Advisory Committee (Healthy People 2030) as well as the VA Secretary's Advisory Committee for Minority Veterans. Dr. Wrenn previously served as the founding Director of the Kennedy Satcher Center for Mental Health Equity at Morehouse School of Medicine, where she is currently an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Clinical Psychiatry. Dr. Wrenn holds a BS from The United States Military Academy at West Point, MD from Jefferson Medical College and Master of Science in Health Policy (MSHP) from the University of Pennsylvania.

Hitomi Yoshida

Hitomi Yoshida, MSEd is a candidate for the Master's of Philosophy in Organizational Dynamics at the University of Pennsylvania. Experienced in qualitative research and community partnership building, she co-authored several reports focusing on the needs and assets of immigrant communities while working as the Research Associate at Temple University. Her interests include action research, cross-sector partnerships, culturally responsive learning strategies, gender equity and immigrant integration. Hitomi holds a Master's in Intercultural Communication from the University of Pennsylvania's School of Education and currently works at the Penn Women's Center.

Jennifer Pedroni

Jennifer has over 25 years of experience in the philanthropic sector. She has developed an expertise in grants and financial management through her work at Annenberg Foundation, a large family foundation with a national grantmaking portfolio, as well as HealthSpark Foundation, a private foundation in Philadelphia with a place-based focus. Her broad-based background includes direct responsibilities in staff operations, finance, budget, grants management, information systems, human resources and facilities. She has implemented grants management systems and developed workflow processes and documents for the entire grants cycle-including application, award, monitoring and learning. She continuously monitors and stays active in the field and incorporates best practices into foundation operations, scaling them to meet the needs, culture and environment of the organization. At BDO FMA Jennifer works with funders to review and establish financial due diligence processes, program officer training and infrastructure assessments and development. Her work also includes supporting nonprofit organizations through training, scenario planning, infrastructure development and coaching. Jennifer serves on the Board of Directors of Philanthropy Network Greater Philadelphia, recently completing her term as Chair. She is an active member of PEAK Grantmaking where she served on the Board of Directors for four years as Treasurer. She also serves on the Steering Committee of the Nonprofit Centers Network, as the Treasurer of the National Network of Consultants to Grantmakers and on the Finance Committee of the Scattergood Foundation. Joe Pyle - President

In his role as President, he has led the foundation to focus on evaluation, design thinking, and community participation in programming. Mary Crauderueff is the Curator of Quaker Collections in the Haverford College Quaker & Special Collections. She is an alum of Friends' Central School, Earlham College, and the University of Maryland, where she earned her Masters in Library Science, with a specialization in Archives, Records, and Information Management. She has worked for a variety of archives and organizations in the Washington DC, Philadelphia, and Boston areas. She returned to the Philadelphia area in June 2015. Mary works with researchers of all kinds, including students, faculty, genealogists, and other academics. She fosters relationships with donors who donate materials to the collections, and she works directly with the materials in the collection in order to make it more accessible, including in academic classes. In her free time she likes to hike in the Wissahickon with her friends, take pictures of and drink coffee, and find ways to dismantle white supremacy, transphobia, and patriarchy.
