SCHOOLHOUSE - Key Persons

Mr Thomas Tang

Mr Thomas Tang first started S.E.A Canadian Overseas Secondary School (Hong Kong) in 1984. It was an international school for students of ages 13 to 18 years old, with a capacity of 800. In 1990, Mr Tang left the school with a strong conviction to start an international school programme in Singapore. The Canadian International School (Singapore) was then established for students of ages 3 to 18 years old. In its first year, the school opened with a population of only six high school students and six staff members. Today, the school has 2 campuses with a cohort of over 3,000 students. Its cutting-edge academic programme draws on best practices from around the world, to provide students with a truly global educational experience. Through his experience at the Canadian International School, Mr Tang identified the need to offer an internationally inspired curriculum, delivered through an enhanced programme that focuses on bilingualism to preschool children in Singapore. Mr Thomas Tang founded Schoolhouse by the Bay at Katong in 2001 and Schoolhouse by the Bay at Hillview in 2017. The school's philosophy advocates that the child is the centre of the school community and the core of its curriculum. We believe that learning is fun, and that children learn best through the process of guided self-discovery.
