THE SHOCKEY COMPANIES

In 1896, a master carpenter named Howard Shockey went into business repairing wagons. His reputation for quality construction and his "do-it-right-the-first-time" attitude soon placed him in demand for custom home building in and around the small town of Winchester, VA. Howard quickly became known for his integrity, industriousness and craftsmanship... By 1947, the growing company had expanded into commercial work, added Howard's two sons, and was operating as Howard Shockey & Sons, Inc. A ready-mixed concrete operation, Crider & Shockey, Inc., was established in the 1940s (which was sold in 2008) and a precast concrete manufacturing division was added in the 1950s, which continues to operate today (under new ownership) as The Shockey Precast Group.
