Alain Azar

Alain was called to the Bar of Ontario in June 2023, after completing the Programme de droit canadien at the University of Ottawa, obtaining his J.D and LL.L. Prior to law school, Alain completed a Bachelor's degree in Finance with magna cum laude distinction at the University of Ottawa. Alain completed his articles at a regional firm in Ottawa and worked as an in-house legal counsel for an insurance company, prior to joining Sicotte Guilbault. During his articles and as Legal counsel, Alain had the opportunity to take carriage of a wide range of Civil Litigation matters acting for both plaintiffs and defendants. Outside of work, Alain enjoys basketball, reading mystery novels and spending time with friends and family.

Anna E. Sundin

Anna joined the firm Sicotte Guilbault Professional Corporation (Embrun office) in January 2020. Prior to joining the firm, Anna maintained a successful practice in the Village of Russell for over two decades, providing numerous legal services to members of the local and surrounding communities. Anna is also a member in good standing of Collaborative Practice Ottawa since its inception in 2000, dealing with issues and conflicts with sensitivity and discretion and helping those going through a separation to resolve disputes respectfully. She has also taught Family Law as a part-time lecturer at Algonquin College. Anna studied History at the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton prior to attending law school at the University of Toronto. After her call to the Bar in 1987, she worked at a commercial litigation firm in downtown Toronto, arguing an appeal at the Ontario Court of Appeal before relocating to the Village of Russell in 1990. She combines her local and legal knowledge and experience to help a wide array of clients, including individuals, families, and business owners achieve their goals. Anna is fluent in Swedish and English. She is also a member of the Metcalfe chapter of Business Network International.

Ashley Ross

Ashley graduated from the Law Clerk program from St. Lawrence College in Kingston, Ontario in 2003. Over the past 18 years she has worked as a law clerk in various legal fields including residential real estate, corporate law, wills and estate planning and family law. Ashley joined the Embrun office of Sicotte Guilbault in September, 2019 and specializes in real estate and corporate law. Ashley enjoys camping with her family, travelling and NFL football - Go Packers!

Catheryn Stewart

Catheryn joined Sicotte Guilbault in 2023 as an addition to our Employment and Litigation teams, with a background in Litigation and Real Estate Law. Catheryn is an avid volunteer, working with a Hospice Centre and local elementary schools teaching children Math and English. She is also a foster momma for dogs in need of care and in her spare time, she enjoys paddleboarding and hiking.

Chantal Sabourin

Chantal Sabourin is a partner of the firm Sicotte Guilbault Professional Corporation. A graduate of the University of Ottawa, Chantal holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts, with a double concentration in Canadian Studies and Governance and Public Policy. Chantal was called to the Ontario Bar in 2008 and has been practicing law in Embrun ever since. Born and raised in rural Eastern Ontario, Chantal offers legal services to her community in both official languages. Chantal practices mainly in the areas of real estate (residential, commercial and agricultural), wills and estates, municipal and business law. Additionally, Chantal acts as managing partner of the firm's Embrun office.

Denis Sicotte

Denis graduated from the University of Ottawa's French Common Law Program in 1991 and was called to the Bar in 1993. He founded the firm in November 1993 as a sole practitioner. Having been previously licensed also as a Chartered Accountant, he practiced both as an accountant and as a lawyer until September 1997. He then decided to focus his efforts on building the firm. Since his call, Denis has also assisted the Law Society of Upper Canada by acting as a Senior Instructor for the Estate Planning and Administration section of the Bar Admission Course, in Ottawa. As a Chartered Accountant and lawyer, Denis is able to provide strategic business and legal advice to clients.

Jessica Byles-Nolet

Jessica joined Sicotte Guilbault in January 2021, working in the Dispute Resolution and Litigation Group. She is passionate about litigation and eager to solve problems. Prior to joining Sicotte Guilbault, Jessica worked at a boutique personal injury law firm, as well as a family law firm. Jessica has appeared in front of diverse tribunals, various levels of Court, the Landlord and Tenant Board, the License Appeal Tribunal, and Provincial Offences Court. Jessica has participated in numerous mediations and has helped many clients obtain successful results. Jessica is actively involved with the Ontario Bar Association and currently sits on the Board of Directors in the Young Lawyer's Division - East. Jessica is a proud member of the third graduating class of the Bora Laskin Faculty of Law at Lakehead University. During her time in law school, Jessica was the Vice-President of Communications for the Law Students' Society, the Vice-President of a public speaking club, and a member of the Arnup Moot Team. Prior to her legal studies, she received a Bachelor's Degree at Carleton University with a major in Law and History with a minor in French. Jessica was called to the Ontario Bar in 2018.

Michel Sicotte

Sophie Parisien - COO

Sophie joined Sicotte Guilbault in 2020, having spent much of her career in the healthcare sector, including 20 years in management and leadership. Sophie has a proven track record of improving efficiency. With a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN), a Master of Health Studies (MHS), and an Executive Certificate in Change Management, she enjoys getting results by helping teams succeed. She is responsible for ensuring that all team members feel seen, heard, and appreciated, and for leading the firm to achieve its strategic and operational objectives. Highly qualified in mediation and conflict resolution, she ensures that all tools and processes are in place to provide exceptional service and the best possible experience for our clients.

Stéphane Hutt

Stéphane began his articles with Sicotte Guilbault in 2010 and was called to the Bar in 2011. He is currently a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the County of Carleton Law Association, as well as the Ontario and Canadian Bar Associations. Born in Orleans, Stéphane is fluently bilingual and can practice in both official languages.

Sylvie Patenaude

Sylvie joined Sicotte Guilbault LLP as a partner, on January 26th, 2009 and practices mainly Business Law, in both official languages. She is also responsible for the Franchise and Distribution Law section of the firm as well as the Commercial Financing section. She has acted on a great deal of transactions from small and simple to complex and over $100 million with the same dedication, trusted advice and passion no matter the size of the transaction. Since being called to the Bar in 1993, she proudly continues to act as a tutor for Bar Admission Course students in areas of Real Estate and Commercial Law. She also gives back to her community by volunteering with the Sicotte Guilbault Community Legal Aid Clinic and as a Director on the Board of Montfort Renaissance Inc.

Yanik S. Guilbault

Yanik S. Guilbault is a partner at Sicotte Guilbault since 2004. Yanik earned his law degree in 1997 (University of Ottawa French Common Law Program) and was called to the Ontario bar in 1999 (LL.B and Juris Doctor)). His practice consists of general litigation matters (family law and civil litigation) and real estate law. He is considered one of Ottawa's leading bilingual litigators. Yanik's extensive court room experience (Superior Court of Justice and Court of Appeal) compliments his ability as a negotiator and mediator in the most difficult and complex cases. Yanik's extensive experience dealing with corporate and business issues as well as support issues in the family law context has assisted and helped him in the representation of some of Ottawa's most prominent citizens and leaders in the business community while working very closely with accountant experts and chartered business valuators. Yanik also has expertise using alternative dispute mechanisms such as mediation and arbitration and court intervention when required in high conflict disputes. Yanik has been acting as mediator for an number of years offering his services in both official languages.

Yasmine Atif

Since her call to the bar of Ontario, Yasmine's practice focuses exclusively on personal injury claims on behalf of Plaintiffs. Yasmine is passionate about advocating on behalf of injured individuals and their families. She has appeared before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Small Claims Court, the Landlord and Tenant Board, and the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board. Yasmine completed her undergraduate degree in Political Science and her Common Law degree at the University of Ottawa. While in law school, Yasmine was involved with the University of Ottawa's Human Rights Legal Clinic and assisted with a number of publications for the United Nations. During her studies, she completed an internship at a criminal law firm in southern Texas, where she provided legal services to underprivileged communities. Before joining Sicotte Guilbault in 2022, Yasmine completed her articles at a well-known Ottawa all-service firm. After being called to the bar, she worked as an Associate at a personal injury firm. Yasmine is fluently bilingual and is happy to offer her services in both official languages. In her free time, Yasmine plays soccer, hockey, golf, and classical piano. She enjoys traveling, college basketball, and exploring new cultures and foods.
