South Alabama Gas is here to serve the state's natural gas needs. We were formed in the early 1960s, and have been providing top-notch service ever since. Safety is our number one priority - we never cut corners when it comes to our customers' well being... South Alabama Gas was formed in the early sixties as Conecuh-Monroe Counties Gas District and is owned by the cities of Evergreen and Monroeville. We also serve Frisco City, Excel, Repton, and Castleberry as franchise towns. We have always strived to be a good corporate citizen. Through the years, the gas district grew in numbers of customers and employees. In January of 2000, we changed our name to South Alabama Gas District. This allowed us to better identify with the geographic area in which we serve which now includes Butler, Brewton, and Flomaton. Since we are a municipality owned Gas District, we were created to serve the citizens. The District's "net profits" or "surplus revenues" are therefore distributed back to the member..
