Addie Smith-Durnell

Professional: Addie was born into the family agency and represents the fourth generation in The Smith Sawyer Smith Agency. She obtained her undergraduate degree in Human Services from The George Washington University in Washington, DC and began her insurance career in 2002. She pioneered the agency's first satellite location in Fishers, Indiana. Addie earned her Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation in 2003 and became actively involved with the Independent Insurance Agents of Indiana (IIAI) serving as Chair for the Young Agents Committee and then serving as an at-large member on the IIAI state board. In an effort to differentiate herself from her competitors, while working full-time, Addie began law school in 2010 knowing that an insurance professional, that is also an attorney, would set her apart and bring added value to her clients. Addie received her Juris Doctorate degree from IU McKinney School of Law in 2014. As an owner of the agency, with her name on the door, she is committed to maintaining the legacy and reputation that her grandfather, uncles, cousins and dad have worked so hard to establish. Addie loves working with her dad (Mart Smith) and she strives to represent the agency and be the type of professional that makes him proud. Personal: Addie and her family reside in Westfield, Indiana. Between competitive cheer, football, baseball and whatever other activities they are involved in, she stays very busy with her three children, Carson, Ellie and Hudson. Whenever she can, she and her husband Andy, love to go to concerts, drink wine, go to baseball games with the goal of seeing a game in every MLB stadium, and travel as often as possible. Life experiences are what have defined and shaped her into the person she is today, and she is trying to do the same for her children. She also is very passionate about helping abused and neglected children and has been a GAL/CASA since 2013 in which she advocates for the best interest of children in court.

Arin Johnson

Professional: After graduating from Rochester High School Arin went on to study at Ball State University for the first two years of her college career. Arin moved back home midway through college, ultimately missing the small-town atmosphere and her family. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Indiana University Kokomo in 2020. She began working for Smith Sawyer and Smith shortly after in March of 2021. Arin has worked as the claims specialists during her time with the company. When she's not managing claims, she is studying for her insurance exam to be licensed in Indiana. Personal: Arin resides in Rochester with her partner, also Aaron. Both have their first little girl on the way, Hattie Jane, set to arrive on August 29th. Brett's career path began in sports marketing, where he represented properties and teams in the Indy Racing League, NASCAR, and The National Basketball Association. Brett left the sports and entertainment industry for the insurance and risk management industry in 2005, where he has worked as a producer and underwriter. Brett's insurance career began with Liberty Mutual Insurance, where he was an award-winning personal lines producer for the state of Indiana and The Midwest Region. Brett transitioned from the personal lines industry to the commercial insurance industry as both an independent agent and direct writer for national programs within the Retail Hardware Industry, Real Estate, and Habitational Industry, Advanced Manufacturing, Wood Products Manufacturing and represented a variety of trade association programs for traditional retail businesses. Brett started with Smith Sawyer & Smith as the Midwest Region's Vice President of Sales and Development, where he assisted in the expansion of the Smith Sawyer & Smith brand, in opening offices in New York, California, Pennsylvania and Indianapolis. Broadening her experience with the youth, she became a School-Based Case Manager for Cass/Pulaski County Schools. Hope was responsible for case management, care coordination, and life skills training for her assigned caseload. She delivered assessments, treatment planning, intervention, and monitoring of goal achievement within a child's school and home life. During covid, the schools shut down and her job became virtual - creating difficulties/diversity to do the essential specifics of her job. With not knowing how long the schools would be shut down and not being able to visit the children's homes, she took a completely different type of job - Primary Care Scribe for Dr. Frieden at Midwest Eye Consultants in Rochester where she was responsible for assessing the patient, performing documentation in the Electronic Health Records, and working with the Physician to deliver the pinnacle of efficient patient care. Hope began working for Smith Sawyer Smith Agency March of 2022 as a Commercial Lines Service Agent and plans to get licensed within the next couple months and make the insurance business her career. Personal: Outside of work, Hope is exploring the new adventure of being a first-time parent to her baby girl Sutton along with her husband! They are enjoying every minute of their little family! She started her career as the head of the Claim Department for The Smith Sawyer Smith Agency where she serviced individuals who had suffered loss and consulted them through the claim process in a timely manner. After giving up the reins as Claim Director, she transitioned into the Commercial Lines Service Team where her primary responsibilities included gathering client data and marketing accounts across our various carrier markets, ensuring clients were offered the best coverage with the best price. Katlyn is now working with Agency Principals to build out the Inside Sales Program, offering the same great service our clients have come to know in an innovative way. Personal: Katlyn is a May ‘19 graduate of Purdue University and spent 6 months immediately following graduation living in Denver, Colorado. He started immediately in the sales and marketing department but was also asked to learn and run the bookkeeping department. His father also thought that all good insurance agents should know and understand the claims process so Mart was also heavily engaged in handling claims. Mart has also spent years in service and support of the Independent Insurance Agents of Indiana serving on the State Board of Directors and also serving as Chairman of several committees. Personal: Mart's father was also a big proponent of giving back to the community and Mart has continued that belief. Mart served on the Rochester School Board for 20 years, is a Past President of the Rochester Chamber of Commerce and has served two terms as President of the Rochester Kiwanis Club. Today, Mart is serving his 12th year on the Rochester City Council, is the Vice President of the Fulton County Council on Aging and is the President of the Fulton County Promise Indiana (an organization that helps all county students create and build a 529 account to help make secondary education a reality). When not working or serving his community Mart spends as many hours as possible with his two children and seven grandchildren doing whatever they think is important. Professional: Rick grew up in the small town of Cheney, Washington. He was blessed to have had the opportunity to play football for the University of Idaho and then drafted into the NFL as an offensive lineman. He played in the NFL seven seasons for the Indianapolis Colts, Detroit Lions, and Washington Redskins. He provided protection for the likes of Peyton Manning among many other amazing athletes throughout his career. After retiring from the game that gave him so much, he began his life after football in the insurance and real estate industry as an Insurance Agent, Realtor/Investor and Brokerage Owner. Rick has found his home with the Smith Sawyer Smith Agency after being drawn to insurance because he truly feels like he is protecting his clients' interests much like he did for QB's in the NFL. Personal: Rick and his wife, Danielle, spend a lot of their time chasing three amazing and energetic kids, Corinth, Jeremiah, and Grace. He is still connected to the game he loves by coaching at Traders Point Christian Academy. If he is lucky enough to slip away for a few hours you might find him trying to squeeze a round or two of golf when the weather is warm.

Rob Sawyer

Professional: Rob graduated with honors from Texas Christian University. With a BBA degree, he was hired by Pepsi and quickly promoted to Marketing Manager in the Dallas area. An opportunity arose in 1987 for him to join the family business here at Smith, Sawyer, & Smith. Serving in many capacities at the agency through the years, he is now a full time producer as well as owner. Rob has represented Smith, Sawyer, & Smith within the Independent Insurance Association serving as local chairman and Junior Golf Classic director. He also served on the Young Agents and Legislative committees for the Indiana Big "I" as well as Agents Advisory Council for Liberty Mutual. Staying active in the community has always been important to Rob as past president of the Chamber of Commerce and Kiwanis Club. He served on the Boards of United Way and the American Cancer Society. Rob was a participant of the initial Fulton County Leadership Academy and proud of the role it has played in the Rochester community through the years. Personal: Any family activity is enjoyable to Rob, whether that was coaching Little League or attending volleyball tournaments in the past to current extended family trips to sporting events or the beach. Both kids are older now and pursuing professions in the medical field. Rob and wife, Beth, enjoy bike rides, church functions, and cookouts with friends. Stacy Robinson

Professional: Stacy graduated from Purdue University in 2013 and joined The Smith Sawyer Smith Agency the same year, originally as the receptionist for the office. She quickly changed roles, filling the need for a personal lines service representative. Stacy later became the director of the farm and agribusiness department, which allowed her to return to her roots, as the sixth generation in her family to have a career in an ag-related field. In addition to farms, she is a part of the commercial lines services team, and manages the surety division. In late 2018, with the acquisition of a Chicago based agency, Stacy took the lead as the account executive for the commercial business. Personal: Stacy finds her joy at home with her husband and son. She spends the warmer months outside in her garden, and carries on the lessons her mother taught her of raising a garden and canning foods. Stacy is active is the Marshall County 4-H program as the Advisor of the 4-H Jr. Leaders.

Terry Smith

Professional: Terry grew up in Peru, IN and graduated from Peru High School where he was captain of the golf and basketball team. He then graduated from Hanover college with a Bachelor of Arts degree while continuing his golf career. After college, Terry went to Michigan to manage a golf course. While Terry enjoyed his time there, he wanted to come back to his hometown. He found a job at a different insurance agency and really enjoyed the insurance industry. In 2017, Terry accepted an opportunity to head the Peru office. He has now been enjoying the insurance industry doing mostly commercial and personal lines. He also has his life and health license to help the insured's full needs. After coming back to Peru, Terry also wanted to get involved in the community. He sits on the Harvesting Capabilities Park Board, Miami County YMCA Board, and is in line to become Rotary President in July of 2019. Terry is also the eighth grade boy's basketball head coach. Personal: During his limited free time, Terry enjoys golfing where he is a member at Rock Hollow. He also enjoys grilling during the summer nights. If he is not doing the cooking, he and is fiancé like to go around northern Indiana trying different restaurants. Terry is set to get married in September of 2019.

Professional: Tiffany hired in with the Agency in early October 2020. She was originally brought on to help service accounts via submitting endorsements, generating Certificates of Insurance, and helping insured's with billing problems. After showing the aptitude to learn quickly, she was transitioned into the Commercial Line Marketing team where she handles the marketing of our new buisness accounts ensuring that our insureds are fully covered in the event of a loss. Tiffany works in tandem with executive officers from our Commercial accounts and underwriters making precise judgements on what coverages are needed to best suit the account.

Personal: I love taking spontaneous trips including road trips on weekends. I love being active and grew up as a track runner. I'm very family oriented as I grew up with 6 sisters and one brother. I come from a highly educated and entrepreneurial family where my dad was a mechanical engineer and owned three private schools. I grew up with my mom being a principal, my principal! Three members of my family are engineers where one of my sisters is a dentist and two others are business owners. My sisters are my best friends and I enjoy coming home to them. I absolutely love spending my weekends volunteering at nonprofit clinics and organizations. Spending my Saturday mornings at the clinic helping under covered people are the highlight of my day. We rise by lifting others, and I will continue to believe in this for the rest of my career.
