David G Reel, II

Dr. David Reel joined Surgical Specialists in January 2017. He is a magna cum laude graduate of Wilkes University located in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. After college, Dr. Reel attended the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, Pennsylvania where he was awarded the degree of doctor of osteopathic medicine. Dr. Reel then completed his Surgical Internship at the Keesler Air Force Base Hospital in Biloxi, Mississippi, prior to attending the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey School of Osteopathic Medicine where he completed his general surgery residency. While in his residency, Dr. Reel trained in many advanced laparoscopic procedures and was certified in endoscopy. Dr. Reel began his professional career as a Staff Surgeon at the Mountain Home Air Force Base Hospital in Mountain Home, Idaho. While in the Air Force, Dr. Reel was deployed to the Balad Air Base in Iraq for four months. Upon leaving the Air Force in June 2009, Dr. Reel returned to Pennsylvania and joined the medical staff of the Good Samaritan Hospital in Lebanon, Pennsylvania where he worked until joining Surgical Specialists in January 2017. Dr. Reel's professional areas of interest include Robotic surgery and advanced laparoscopic and endoscopic procedures. He is board certified with the American Board of Osteopathic Surgery and holds memberships in the American Osteopathic Association and the Society of American Gastroenterologists and Endoscopic Surgeons. Dr. Reel is currently seeing patients in our Paoli, Brandywine and Phoenixville offices.

David P. Singer

David P. Singer, M.D. joined Surgical Specialists, P.C. in July 2009 and expanded the services of the practice to include the specialty of plastic and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Singer is a board certified plastic surgeon who specializes in general plastic and reconstructive surgery, including skin malignancies/lesions, general reconstruction, birth defects and pediatric plastic surgery, complex and comprehensive hand surgery, trauma, burns, microsurgery and aesthetic surgery. A graduate of the Baylor University, Dr. Singer received his medical degree from University of Texas Southwestern Medical School after which he completed a combined residency in general and plastic surgery at Brown University. Dr. Singer then supplemented this training with a fellowship in Breast Microsurgery at Mercy Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Subsequently, Dr. Singer was a visiting scholar in microsurgery at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Taiwan, one of the largest centers of microsurgery in the world. Dr. Singer has a particular interest and expertise in breast reconstruction and his advanced training allows him to offer patients a variety of options beyond the traditional techniques of implant reconstruction following mastectomy. Dr. Singer is a diplomate of the American Board of Plastic Surgery and a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. He has been awarded a number of distinctions throughout his career including being recognized as a Top Doc/Rising Star in Philadelphia Magazine, and in 2019 he was named a Top Doctor in Plastic Surgery in both Philadelphia Magazine and Main Line Today.

Dr. Ron Mattson

Surgical Specialists, P. C. was the vision of Ron Mattson, a successful general/vascular surgeon, who worked at three hospitals, the Bryn Mawr Hospital, the Paoli Hospital, and the Chester County Hospital. As such, he had the opportunity to work with the three general surgery practices at each hospital. His own, which was Bryn Mawr Surgical Group, Ltd, and the two others: The Paoli Surgical Associates, and the Chester County Surgical Associates. Each of the three groups was comprised of three surgeons. Understanding the advantages of growth and negotiation leverage, he encouraged the principals at each to consider a merger, and in 1999 Bryn Mawr Surgical Group, Ltd merged with Paoli Surgical Associates and Surgical Specialists of the Main Line was formed. By 2001, George Trajtenberg, the founder of Chester County Surgical Associates, convinced his fellow partners of the advantages of such a merger and Chester County Surgical Associates merged with Surgical Specialists of the Main Line and Surgical Specialists, P. C. was formed.

Dr. Susan Sees

Dr. Susan Sees joined Surgical Specialists, P. C. in October 2015. She is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where she studied Cell and Structural Biology. She received a Master's Degree in Biologic Research and her Medical Degree from the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. After completing a surgical internship at the Boston Medical Center, Dr. Sees completed her general surgery residency at the Albert Einstein Medical Center where she served as Chief Resident in the Department of Surgery from 2010-2011. A board certified general surgeon, Dr. Sees joined the staff of Brandywine Hospital in 2012 as well as the Surgical Associates of Chester County where she worked as a general surgeon for three years before joining the private surgical practice group of Surgical Specialists, P. C. in October 2015. Dr. Sees' professional areas of interest include breast surgery, open, laparoscopic and Robotic-assisted abdominal surgery for diseases of the gall bladder, small intestine or colon, as well as hernia repair and surgery for a variety of skin and soft tissue lesions. Dr. Sees was named the Medical Director of the Robotic Surgery Division at Brandywine Hospital and is currently working on developing the Robotics Committee and promoting Robotic Assisted procedures at Brandywine Hospital. She was listed as one of Main Line Today's Top Doctors since 2014 through the present.

Nestor A. Veitia

Nestor A. Veitia, M.D. joined Surgical Specialists, P.C. in May 2010. A board certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon, Dr. Veitia's areas of interest include general reconstructive surgery, breast reconstruction, cosmetic plastic surgery, skin malignancies and lesions, complex and comprehensive hand surgery, trauma, microsurgery, and body contouring after weight loss. A graduate of the University of Delaware, Dr. Veitia received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, after which he completed a full general surgery residency at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia. During his residency he spent one year as a research fellow in the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Dr. Veitia then completed a three-year fellowship in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh, where he developed and now maintains a particular interest and expertise in reconstructive surgery and body contouring after surgical and non-surgical weight loss. Dr. Veitia's is well regarded both by his patients and his peers, and in 2019 was voted Top Doctor in Plastic Surgery in both Philadelphia Magazine and Main Line Today magazine.

Robert C. Fried

After completing his surgical training and clinical research at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in 1987, Dr. Robert Fried joined the medical staff of the Paoli Hospital which he has served more than twenty years. A board certified general surgeon, he was one of the first surgeons in Chester County to incorporate laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgery into his practice. He also has a special interest in diseases of the breast and is the Director of the Holloway Breast Center. In addition to his busy clinical practice, Dr. Fried has chaired and participates on many Hospital Committees and holds numerous appointments within the Main Line Health System. Currently, he holds the posts of Chief of the Department of Surgery and Vice President of Medical Affairs at Paoli Hospital. Previously, Dr. Fried served as the President of the Hospital's Medical Staff as well as the Chief of Staff for the Main Line Health System. Dr. Fried is a member of numerous local and national organizations and has authored several publications. He has been the recipient of many awards and honors including being named Best Doctor in both the Philadelphia Magazine and the Main Line Today.

Scott A. Kripke

Dr. Scott Kripke joined the medical staff of the Paoli Hospital in July 1991 and has been an active member of the community since that time. A graduate of Harvard College in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Dr. Kripke received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine where he also completed a residency in general surgery. With an interest in surgical oncology, Dr. Kripke completed a fellowship at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York on the gastric and mixed tumor service. In addition to his clinical training, Dr. Kripke completed a two year research fellowship on nutrition and metabolism at the University of Pennsylvania's Department of Surgery. Throughout his educational career, Dr. Kripke has been the recipient of several awards ,most recently being named a Top Doctor in surgery as published in Main Line Today. A cum laude graduate from Harvard, Dr. Kripke was recognized for his superior academic achievement and contributions to healthcare while in medical school, and was awarded the Resident Teaching Award and Resident Research Award while at the University of Pennsylvania. Additionally, Dr. Kripke has co-authored several papers and presented at several national and international conferences. Dr. Kripke performs the full range of oncologic, general and acute care surgery, including abdominal, colorectal, hernia, breast, thyroid and melanoma surgery. He employs minimally invasive techniques when appropriate, and is particularly mindful of cosmetic as well as functional results. Dr. Kripke, along with his colleagues, Dr. Robert Fried and Dr. Timothy Fox, are Surgical Specialists' full time general surgery team at the Paoli Hospital. Drs. Kripke, Fox and Fried are also on the surgical service of Brandywine Hospital in Coatesville as well as on the Phoenixville Hospital general surgery service. Over the course of the last few years, some of the principal surgeons have since retired, taken administrative positions or pursued other career paths. Ron Mattson retired in July 2014 after successfully leading the practice's growth and development for fifteen years. Scott Kripke succeeded Dr. Mattson as president of SSPC which now includes a roster of seven physicians. Further plans for the continued growth of the practice are underway.

Timothy T. Fox

Dr. Tim Fox joined the Paoli Hospital in 1987 after completing his general surgery residency at Temple University Hospital. Upon joining the medical staff of the Paoli Hospital, Dr. Fox became an active committee participant and chairman, serving on numerous committees throughout his tenure including but not limited to the Aids Task Force, the Critical Care Committee, the Medical Staff Office Nominating Committee, the Surgical Case Review Committee, and the Laser Safety Committee. A board certified general surgeon, Dr. Fox currently holds the position of Chief of the General Surgery Section at Paoli Hospital and is the Cancer Liaison Physician to the American College of Surgeons of which he is a fellow. Dr. Fox, along with his colleagues, Dr. Robert Fried and Dr. Scott Kripke, are Surgical Specialists' full time general surgery team at the Paoli Hospital. Drs. Fox, Fried and Kripke are also on the general surgery service at Brandywine Hospital where Dr. Fox is Chief of Surgery. In addition, Drs. Fox, Fried and Kripke are on the general surgery service at Phoenixville Hospital. In 2016, Dr. Fox was voted by his peers as Top Doctor in surgery as published in Main Line Today.
