Brian Francis Gilchrist

Dr. Gilchrist is a graduate of Tufts Medical School and did his surgery training at Harvard University and Brown University. He has published extensively on a broad range of neonatal and pediatric surgical topics. He has lectured nationally and internationally and led the American Pediatric Surgery Association Pediatric Trauma program in Puerto Rico in 2009. Dr. Gilchrist has been a very active clinical surgeon in the Bronx and for NYU over the past five years in which he performed more than 700 cases per year. He has won teacher of the year awards from both medical students and residents on many occasions. His book on necrotizing enterocolitis is found in many Neonatal Intensive Care Units throughout the USA. Dr. Gilchrist is board-certified in both surgery and pediatric surgery. His belief is that pediatric surgery is a calling and that children are always victims of their diseases.

Denzil Etienne

Denzil Etienne, MD, is as an attending physician specializing in gastroenterology in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. He is also Associate Program Director of the Division's large fellowship program, as well as Associate Director of the Internal Medicine Residency Program. Dr. Etienne attended St. George's University School of Medicine and completed his residency training in internal medicine at the State University of New York (SUNY) in Syracuse, NY. He subsequently completed his fellowship training in gastroenterology at The Brooklyn Hospital Center. Dr. Etienne's interests include inflammatory bowel disease, obesity, irritable bowel syndrome and colon cancer epidemiology, particularly health care disparities among urban minority populations. His scholarly activity has led to publication of his work in several peer reviewed journals. He has also presented his work at several national gastroenterology conferences, including Digestive Disease Week and the American College of Gastroenterology. In addition to his scholarly pursuits, Dr. Etienne remains actively engaged in community outreach endeavors to promote colon cancer awareness and screening. He is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG), American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) and the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA). Dr. Etienne is board-certified in gastroenterology.
