Benjamin Beach - COO

Ben Beach is the Chief Operating Officer with over 20 years of experience in project management, business development, and construction across the US and Canada. Holding both a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) and a Master of Business Administration (MBA), Ben has developed a deep expertise in overseeing complex projects and driving business growth. Ben currently splits his time between TEC and his home in Texas, but he is a proud Michigander at heart. This spring, he will be bringing his wife and their two dogs, Coco and Sandy, back to Michigan to be closer to family and continue his professional journey with TEC.

Carey Suhan - VP

Carey Suhan, Vice President and Principal of Testing Engineers & Consultants, Inc. (TEC), oversees Geotechnical Engineering and Environmental Services, along with corporate operations responsibilities. Mr. Suhan earned his undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Michigan and went on to earn a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from Wayne State University while working full time. He is a Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Michigan and Ohio with 36 years' of industry experience. He is a 33-year veteran of TEC. Mr. Suhan's list of accomplishments is lengthy and his commitment to community service strong. He has provided geotechnical engineering services on over 4000 projects throughout his career. He has received numerous awards and has been elected to numerous Board positions over the years with professional organizations such as the American Society of Civil Engineering (ASCE), Michigan Society of Professional Engineers (MSPE) and Society of American Military Engineers (SAME). He currently serves as the ASCE Michigan Section President. Throughout his career he has received outstanding engineer awards from the Southeast (SE) Michigan Branch of ASCE, the Michigan Society of professional Engineers, as well as the Wayne State University Alumni Industry Achievement Award. Carey enjoys traveling, good food and drink, paddle boarding, biking, and an occasional round of golf.

David Clark

With 25 years of experience in the construction and materials testing industry, David Clark brings a wealth of expertise and leadership to his role as Vice President of Construction Services. He holds a degree in Building and Construction Technology, which has provided a solid foundation for his successful career in construction management and project delivery. David has led numerous high-profile projects, overseeing all aspects of construction processes, from design to execution, and ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. His extensive experience includes project management, quality control, risk management, and material testing, making him a trusted leader in the field. Throughout his career, David has built a reputation for fostering strong team collaboration, driving operational improvements, and delivering projects on time and within budget. His dedication to excellence has earned him recognition within the industry and the trust of clients, colleagues, and stakeholders alike. Outside of work, David enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters as well as his dogs, Scooter and Bruno. They all enjoy traveling and camping together, especially when it involves history or a trip to a museum. This reflects his strong values of family and balance in life.

Donald Kaylor

Donald Kaylor is Manager of Environmental Assessment at Testing Engineers & Consultants, Inc. (TEC) and has over 30 years of environmental consulting experience. His expertise includes environmental due diligence, contamination assessment, Risk-Based Corrective Action, and UST/leaking UST projects. Mr. Kaylor is well versed in numerous environmental topics and has personally conducted presentations on environmental topics such as due diligence, vapor intrusion, mold/fungal amplification, and due care/construction safety for public, private, and non-profit entities (e.g., Eastern Michigan University, Compuware, Yamasaki, Michigan Department of Technology, Management, & Budget, Independent Bank, Greening of Detroit, Hamilton-Anderson Architects, Clinton River & Rouge River water festivals, and many others). He holds a Graduate Diploma in Waste Management/Groundwater Contamination, a Master of Science in Geology, and a Bachelor of Science in Geology, all from McGill University in Canada. He is an Environmental Professional (EP) per 40 C.F.R. § 312.10(b), a Professional Geologist in Indiana and Tennessee, a State of Michigan Certified UST Professional, an Asbestos Building Inspector, as well as Certified Class A UST System Operator (Michigan), Certified Class B UST System Operator (Michigan), and Certified Stormwater Operator for industrial and construction sites. He is a Past-President of the Michigan Association of Environmental Professionals (MAEP). Donald is always on the quest for continuing education opportunities but when not managing environmental project for clients, he enjoys spending time with family, travel, hiking, hockey and bicycling. In fact, on occasion you'll see him rolling up to TEC… weather permitting.

Katherine Banicki - Chairman, President

Katherine Banicki, FESD, is President of Testing Engineers & Consultants, Inc. (TEC), an engineering consulting firm specializing in geotechnical, environmental, building and infrastructure engineering, and construction materials testing services. TEC, was founded in 1966 has offices in Troy, Detroit and Ann Arbor. Ms. Banicki began her career 57 years ago when she and her husband John Banicki†, founded the company. Years later she was named President, and while she has faced many challenges along the way, she has emerged strong and well respected by her peers. A firm believer in community service, she is involved in numerous youth, civic, religious and professional organizations. She has received numerous awards and honors for her role as a community and industry leader. Among her many accomplishments, Katherine is a long standing member of the Engineering Society of Detroit (ESD) and Board Director, was inducted into the ESD College of Fellows in 2011. She is the first woman ever to be appointed to the Board of Directors of the Associated General Contractors of Michigan (AGC). She is on the CORENET Advisory Board and the Oakland Schools Education Foundation Board. She is a member and is on the Programs committee with the Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW). The Michigan Society of Professional Engineers (MSPE) honored Katherine with a Special Recognition Award for her long-standing efforts on the Society's behalf. And, Katherine is an Honorary Affiliate Member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Michigan. This high honor is presented in recognition of an individual of esteemed character who has rendered a distinguished service to the profession of architecture. Ms. Banicki attributes her success to hard work, relationships and her staff of dedicated professionals. A balanced lifestyle includes spending quality time with family and friends.

Nanette M. Rose

Nanette M. Rose is Senior Corporate Marketing Specialist with Testing Engineers & Consultants, Inc. (TEC) and manages sales and marketing activities for the company, cultivating relationships with clients and teaming partners, major proposal development and coordination, graphic composition and copy for all marketing materials, presentations and advertising, coordination of all trade show activities and company events, developing and maintaining company website, and public relations. Ms. Rose has 30+ years of experience as a marketing professional in the engineering consulting industry, a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing, and is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society. She recently completed a course and received a diploma in Online Marketing from the Shaw Academy that provided expertise on web development and design, tracking, PPC, SaaS, affiliate marketing, SEO, social marketing and CRM, and email marketing. She has been a devoted member of the Southeast Michigan Society of Healthcare Engineers (SMSHE) since 2007, and currently holds the positions of Communications/Marketing Committee Chair and Member of the Board, and received the President's Award in 2011 for her dedication to the Society and efforts to provide leadership and unwavering support to the membership. She is an active member of several other professional organizations including the American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE), the Engineering Society of Detroit (ESD), and the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS-Michigan), where she is a former Board member and Programs Committee Chair. She is dedicated to various philanthropic endeavors through her community and with charitable organizations. She has been active fund raiser and steward for raising awareness for the early detection of breast cancer through the American Cancer Society for 15+ years. As Team Captain, her team has repeatedly ranked in the top 20 with most funds raised out of hundreds of teams in Making Strides for Life events. She was on the first annual ACS Relay for Life Planning Committee in Troy and coordinated a Team through TEC, which took Silver Level and Best Team Spirit awards in 2003. She has also enjoyed volunteering at the Open Hands and Helping Hands food pantries; as well as organizing a team at TEC to raise funds for Common Ground - a local charitable human service organization. In her spare time, she enjoys physical activity through walking, biking and playing golf. She is a member of the Detroit Wine Organization's wine club and loves searching for that next amazing wine whether red, white or bubbling to add to her favorites list. Travel is also on her list of favorite things to do and she looks forward to touring the Tuscan Region of Italy one day.

Scott Chandler

Scott Chandler is Manager of the Industrial Hygiene Services Department for Testing Engineers & Consultants, Inc. (TEC). Mr. Chandler serves as project manager for indoor air quality, mold, lead and asbestos management projects. With 40 years of experience, he has been involved in literally hundreds of indoor air quality evaluations. Mr. Chandler has been quoted as an indoor air quality expert in various trade and news publications such as the Construction Association of Michigan (CAM) magazine, Michigan Real Estate Journal, and Crain's Detroit Business publication. A few of his more recent speaking engagements include presentations on mold and indoor air quality to the Michigan School Business Officials (MSBO) at their annual Facilities Conference, the Southeast Michigan Society for Healthcare Engineers (SMSHE) at their annual conference, Butzel Long law firm, Gunn Levine Architects, TMP Architects, Associated General Contractors (AGC), and Comerica Bank. He is a Certified Industrial Hygienist, LEED Accredited Professional, and Licensed Asbestos Building Inspector/Management Planner. Mr. Chandler received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Detroit. He is a member of the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA); Michigan Industrial Hygiene Society (MIHS); the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), as well as former member of the Associated General Contractors of America/Detroit Chapter's (AGC) Safety Committee. Scott is quite the sportsman and enjoys hunting and fishing throughout the great state of Michigan. He enjoys whipping up something for dinner for his family and makes his home in the country where the only noises he hears at night are from the wildlife in the area.

Scott Hoffman

With over 35 years of experience in the construction and engineering industries, Scott Hoffman is a seasoned Professional Engineer (PE) and Builder licensed in the state of Michigan. He is also a certified Construction Document Technologist by the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) and a Registered Roofing Observer with the Roofing Consultants Institute (RCI). As the Manager of Engineering Services, Scott oversees complex projects from concept to completion, leading teams to deliver exceptional results. His extensive career has equipped him with a comprehensive understanding of construction design, technical specifications, and roofing systems. His ability to integrate innovative solutions while adhering to strict regulatory standards has made him a trusted advisor in delivering high-quality, successful projects across diverse sectors. Scott's expertise spans the full spectrum of the construction process, from initial planning and design to execution and quality control, ensuring that projects meet both client needs and industry standards. Throughout his career, he has remained committed to continuous learning and professional development, further solidifying his reputation as a respected leader in the engineering and construction communities. Outside of his professional work, Scott is a family-oriented individual, married with two dogs.
