Stuart started TLC Advisory Group LLC in early 2009 with a passion for providing clients with unbiased, comprehensive retirement planning solutions. Stuart began his insurance career in 1986 at the age of 19, paying major medical, Medicare Supplement and individual health claims for Southland Life in Dallas, Texas. He became manager of the Records Department in 1987, and his home office management career began while he pursued his bachelor's degree at night. In 1992, he accepted a management position with American National Life Insurance Company in Galveston, Texas, overseeing the Litigation Unit for the Individual and Group Health Claims Departments. After graduating cum laude from the University of Houston-Clear Lake in 1998 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in marketing, he became manager and then director in the Multi-Line Marketing (Career) Division, assisting agents and their clients with retirement planning. He left American National in 1999 and moved his family to San Antonio to run Sumrall & Associates, Inc., an 11-state Regional Independent Marketing Firm. He became president, CEO and partner of the firm and helped expand the company into doing business in 47 states. With his staff, he assisted 2,800 licensed insurance agents in helping to design retirement strategies for their clients. In 2006, he entered a brief partnership with his brother in building an annuity division for First Choice Brokerage before starting TLC Advisory Group LLC in 2009. Today, TLC has an experienced and expanding staff with the home office in San Antonio and satellite offices in Northwest Houston (Champions area) and Northeast Texas (Longview). In 1997, Stuart received his Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI) designation, a 10-course professional insurance industry designation through the Life Office Management Association. Since 2004, Stuart has been a licensed health, life and annuity agent. As the youngest son of a West Pointer, Stuart learned early on about having a strong work ethic. He is blessed to be able to share quality time with his 87- and 88-year-old parents and to assist with his mother's care since 2014. He is an Eagle Scout and has always loved swimming, recently joining a senior swim club after swimming competitively from ages 6 to 18. He also enjoys golfing (and most sports), fishing, camping, trips to the coast with his wife, Rachel, and fellowship with his church, where he is a deacon. Stuart has two grown children and one grandson.
