TLCD ARCHITECTURE - Key Persons
Anna's extensive background in accounting practices for the AEC industry and a no-nonsense approach to managing complex financial data, coupled with a sharp sense of humor is the recipe to her success. While supervising accounting staff, she is responsible for producing reports and monitoring cashflow for accounts payable, receivable, payroll, benefits, billing, project and corporate budgeting, general ledger, and financial statements. She enjoys rolling up her sleeves to analyze data and keeps the management team up to date on project financials.
Outside the office, Anna brings the same collaborative enthusiasm to her work with non-profit groups, including disaster relief organizations in her community. If that weren't impressive enough, she regularly unwinds after work by creating crave-worthy pastries and desserts.
Bill sees the role of "Architect" as a problem solver whose goal is to make a difference in people's lives. He particularly enjoys healthcare architecture because the built environment helps care givers deliver their best to patients. For Bill, the bigger and more complex the project the better.
His successful leadership style calls for true teamwork - keeping everyone informed and creating a high level of participation for the entire team. Younger staff members flourish under his mentorship, which has a healthy dose of optimism and a story to fit every situation.
Carl discovered his love of architecture early, when he found that his natural ability in logic and math could complement his interest in creative challenges. Almost 20 years later, he continues to find joy in the practice of architecture, where he strives to strengthen and sustain our communities by providing thoughtful design solutions in the built environment. By focusing on educational projects at TLCD, his passion for education, design and sustainability have converged. More than containers for curriculum, schools reflect community values, inform our relationships to the environment and nurture a curiosity for learning.
As Principal and K-12 Practice Leader, Carl fosters an appreciation within project teams for the importance each aspect of a school's design has on its occupants. His leadership emphasizes a collaborative effort between multiple stakeholders, the design team and exploration of teaching and learning practices that inform design decisions. Aligning project goals and available funding is instrumental to Carl's transparent management approach, along with proactive application of sustainable design practices.
Having grown up in the Midwest and studied and worked in Colorado and Washington, Carl chose to make Northern California home. He has served as President of the AIA Redwood Empire Chapter and as an adjunct instructor at a local community college. He is also active in a variety of educational organizations including CASH, CCFC and SCUP. Married to a teacher and with two teenage daughters, Carl's design process reflects an ethic of care whose goal is to embody the needs, goals and dreams of communities.

With an interest in both design and business, David was drawn to multifamily/mixed-use projects early in his career, where he has continued to thrive. He is particularly interested in the complexity of development projects which benefit from his unique blend of design, technical and interpersonal skills. Ultimately, he believes each project is unique and results from a creative process that synthesizes constraints and transforms ideas.
Although David's role as Principal is focused on multifamily/mixed-use projects, he is also able to apply the well-established principles of sound design and business practice acquired during his 25-year career to other related building typologies such as student housing, senior housing and hospitality. David has a keen interest in how new technologies and building systems can help inform or reinforce the underlying design concept of a building. The firm as a whole also benefits from his leadership experience, strong project management acumen and quality control skills.
Effective teamwork is a hallmark of David's management style, and mentoring junior staff is particularly satisfying. Watching their "light bulb" moments is not only meaningful but also sparks opportunities for everyone to learn something new or apply what has been learned in a different way. Dennis is one of our most experienced project architects and has been with TLCD for over 3 decades. In addition to managing complex projects, his interest in creative problem solving and a keen eye for detail make him well suited to his role in directing TLCD's Quality Assurance and Control program. Designers in the office enjoy his personal approach and take advantage of his expertise with building codes, as well as his extensive hands-on experience with construction.
Dennis also enjoys educating our staff and helping them achieve their potential - so his Professional Development program is well attended! During his lunchtime presentations, project architects compare notes and field questions in a casual format.
Don's role as Principal Emeritus brings a much-valued level of experience and design oversight to project teams in the office. As Principal for 37 of his 40 years at TLCD, his resume boasts an impressive list of award-winning projects including many of the most recognizable and respected projects in the community. It's no wonder that Don followed in the footsteps of his father, an architect with an infectious enthusiasm for the profession. A native of Santa Rosa, Don clearly recalls the establishment of his father's firm, Thomas M. Tomasi Architect in 1965 - a place where Don spent his early years learning the profession.
Being Principal Emeritus allows Don to focus on what he loves best - the design of projects that serve both clients and community. He also continues his four-decade long record of actively contributing to his community though various organizations and activities. Clients and team members alike appreciate his ability to see "the forest for the trees" and find solutions that support over-arching project goals that strengthen the community.
Having travelled extensively from a young age, Don is heavily influenced by international architecture, which brings subtle undertones to his work that strives for thoughtful and well-conceived design. He can often be found with a fat pen in his hand as he delves into project conceptualization.
TLCD would be lost without Donald, who is responsible for anything and everything having to do with computers, phones or security. Dealing with viruses, system upgrades, troubleshooting and backups can come with a lot of headaches, but Donald takes it in stride with a healthy dose of dry humor.
It's lucky for us that Donald enjoys helping others solve problems because he spends a fair amount of time looking over shoulders and helping folks with challenging tasks like "why is there a big arrow on my screen?" Problem solved and he's back in his office researching the latest and greatest hardware or software to keep our projects in tip-top shape.

Ian continues the family legacy by following in the footsteps of his father who is also a Bay Area architect. While an early interest in all-things mechanical had him tempted to put his hobby into practice in engineering or the automotive sciences, an opportunity to pursue a Design-Build Master of Architecture program is where he found the right blend between his technical and design interests. We're glad Ian chose architecture!
An experienced Project Captain and licensed Architect, Ian has worked on everything from high-rise residential buildings to upscale retail spaces. Going through the pandemic has solidified his passion around housing and the need for flexible and livable spaces that benefit society. Eager to join the team, Ian looks forward to positively impacting the community through multifamily housing and enjoying a quality of life that only Sonoma County provides.

As the Marketing Director at TLCD, Marina's job is equal parts business development, marketing, communication, data base management and firm documentation. Marina's past work experience called for strong communication skills as well as her artistic sensibilities as a graphic designer. The interchange of ideas and creative solutions across this multi-generational office keeps her batteries charged.
