Alex Rodriguez is an experienced litigation attorney at our law firm, with a primary focus on civil litigation and family law matters. With a proven track record of success, Alex has built a reputation for being a passionate and dedicated advocate for his clients.
Alex was born and raised in Colorado, and he has deep roots in the local community. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Northern Colorado in 2009, and then went on to Kansas to earn his Juris Doctor from the Washburn University School of Law in 2015. During law school, Alex graduated with Dean's Honors and served as a published Staff Writer and Comments Editor for the Washburn Law Journal, Volumes 53 & 54.
After returning home after law school, Alex was admitted to practice law in Colorado in 2015, Alex began his legal career as a litigator, representing clients in a wide range of civil and family law disputes. He has since gained extensive experience in various litigation practice areas, including civil litigation, contract/business litigation, domestic relations/family law, protection orders, guardianships/conservatorships, probate litigation, real property disputes, and alternative dispute resolution (ADR).
As a member of the Colorado Bar Association (Sections on Litigation and Family Law) and the Denver Bar Association, Alex stays up to date with the latest developments in the law and regularly attends continuing legal education courses to enhance his skills.
In his free time, Alex enjoys playing softball, golf, and bowling, as well as skiing and outdoor summer activities like camping and hiking. He also loves spending time with his two Mini-Australian Shepards and his fiancé, Christina.

Austin is a member of the firm's Estate, Trusts, and Probate team. Austin helps clients meet their estate planning goals by holistically considering each client's unique circumstances. Outside of the office, Austin enjoys playing in local sports leagues, trying new restaurants, and exploring the great outdoors.

Brandon Rich has worked at our firm since 2021. He started out as a legal intern while he was in college, transitioning to a full-time legal assistant after graduation. In December of 2023, he successfully completed his paralegal certification and primarily works in the Estate Planning and Probate Department.
Brandon was born in Scottsdale, Arizona, but moved to Colorado when he was five years old. He was raised in the Centennial State going to high school at J.K. Mullen High School and choosing to remain in-state for college at Colorado Christian University. He graduated Colorado Christian University, summa cum laude, with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with minors in Accounting and Pre-Law and a specialization in biblical studies.
Professors at Colorado Christian University's School of Business and Leadership, including Thomas N, Scheffel, peaked Brandon's interest in business, accounting, and the law. Their mentorship and guidance have helped Brandon discern his desire to enter the legal field. He plans to take a two-year gap before going to law school to study for the LSAT and to gain work experience.
In his free time, Brandon enjoys learning. He loves reading books about philosophy, theology, and history and he has been caught reading accounting textbooks for fun. He also loves playing board games and watching movies with his wife, Briana.
Kyle Usrey was born in Wyoming, and grew up in Boulder, Colorado. He was valedictorian of Fairview High School in Boulder as well as a star athlete. He received a BS degree in Economics and Finance, graduating summa cum laude, then went on to obtain an MBA and JD from the University in Colorado, near the top of his class in both those programs. He worked as an executive for GTE in Los Angeles, Washington DC, New York, Wisconsin and Texas, engaged in some complex litigation matters. He worked as a law clerk for two federal judges in Denver, working on major criminal and civil cases - then went on to to work for a Top Ten law firm in Chicago, representing GM, Kraft, Exxon, and NL Industries in complicated multi-party litigation, much of it environmental. He later worked for a general practice law firm in Boulder, doing transactional work as well as debtor and creditor bankruptcy issues. Each of those positions provided Usrey experience in an international business law practice, which became his primary focus for many years. He and his wife were both missionary professors at a major university in China, generating a large amount of business legal work, which spread to other parts of SE Asia, South Asia, Eastern Europe, East Africa, and Australia, including representing some governments in those regions.
He has also had a varied career in academia as professor, director, dean, visiting scholar, vice president, general counsel, and President at a number of universities and colleges throughout the world; he has written a number of published articles and a book on international business law, used on five continents.

Marissa Archuleta is a spring 2023 graduate from Colorado Christian University. She has worked as an administrative assistant at our law firm since her last semester of college and is transitioning into a full-time position. Before working for the firm, she interned for a United States District Court Magistrate Judge.
Marissa was born and raised in Colorado. Growing up spending half of the year in Littleton, Co. and half the year in her family home in Pitkin, Co. Marissa choose to go to school at Green Mountain High School and decided to stay in state to go to college at Colorado Christian University.
Professors at Colorado Christian University's School of Business and Leadership, including Thomas N. Scheffel, and Charles King, persuaded Marissa to take on the pre-law minor. Their mentorship and guidance have pushed Marissa into looking into getting her law degree. She plans to take a four-year to five-year gap before going to law school to gain work experience and she hopes to join the United States Coast Guard.
In her free time, Marissa enjoys reading all types of books. She loves reading books about economics, theology, and history, especially historical fiction. When she cannot read physical books, she will listen to audio books. She has been caught binge listening to audio books many times. She loves outdoor sports, fishing, hiking, etc., and volunteering in her hometown of Pitkin in the summer.

Michael J. McNally was born on November 6, 1961. He is licensed in Colorado (state and federal court) and Arizona. His areas of practice over the last thirty years include medical and hospital malpractice, mental health professional liability and administrative law, probate litigation, personal injury, employment, products liability, insurance bad faith, and general litigation. Mr. McNally has been a speaker at numerous national and local meetings and education programs on a broad range of topics including risk management and automotive products liability.
Mr. McNally's admissions to the bar include Colorado (1986); U.S. District Court (1986); the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals (2010); and Arizona (2011). Mr. McNally has handled cases in state and federal courts in Colorado, California, Texas, Alabama, Arizona, New Mexico, Georgia, Florida, Oklahoma, Ohio, and Iowa. He was a board member of the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association. He is also a member of the Colorado Bar Association.
He attended the University of Colorado where he obtained a B.A. in 1983, graduating with academic honors, Phi Beta Kappa. Mr. McNally obtained his J.D. degree in 1986 from the University of Denver College of Law. He was the recipient of the American Jurisprudence Award in Conflict of Laws. He enjoys the highest rating, "AV for preeminence and excellence in the practice of law," granted by Martindale-Hubbell.
He was chosen by his peers as a "Super Lawyer" in 5280 Magazine's Colorado's Top Lawyers edition for the years 2008 and 2009.

Nicole Thomas is an attorney in the firm's litigation department, primarily focusing on family and domestic law. Nicole's approach to litigation is to represent her clients in the most thorough and respectful manner possible. Nicole believes that one of the most important aspects of being an attorney is counseling her clients on all potential courses of action and the potential results of those courses so that her clients can make the most well-informed decision possible. Nicole has experience in assisting clients through mediation, settlement, and courtroom trials, and she seeks to represent her clients as zealously as she can in any setting.
Born and raised in Colorado, Nicole has deep roots and strong ties within the Colorado community. Nicole earned her J.D. from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, where she served as President of the Christian Legal Society and as an editor for the Denver Law Review, Volumes 99 & 100. Nicole began working at the firm as a law clerk while in law school, and was promoted to her attorney role upon her graduation and passing of the Colorado bar exam in 2023.
In her free time, Nicole enjoys going hiking and cross-country skiing in the mountains, playing board games, watching her husband, Kyle, coach high school football, and spending time with her two dogs, Thor and Loki.

Rodrigo da Silva is the Administrative and Legal Assistant to Thomas N. Scheffel, the firm's President and CEO. He is responsible for supporting daily operations, file administration and calendar management.
In addition, Rodrigo works as a Legal Assistant to the firm; responsible for conducting legal research, drafting and reviewing pleadings and documents, and collaborating with attorneys and legal assistants to meet clients' need in areas of Estate Planning, Business Law, Employment law, Civil Litigation, and more.
