Jeffery Smith

Jeffery Smith is a psychiatrist with broad experience in outpatient treatment. He has worked in the addiction field since 1980. He is currently in full time private practice and teaches at both New York Medical College and the Westchester Institute for Training in Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy. Dr. Smith was Director of Alcoholism Services at Westchester Medical Center in the eighties, and went on to establish Cortland Medical, the first evening intensive addiction program in Westchester County. He has served twice as President of the Psychiatric Society of Westchester, a District Branch of the American Psychiatric Association. He is published in scientific journals and has lectured on a range of topics including addiction, adolescence and psychotherapy theory. He has appeared on Good Morning America and 60 Minutes. Dr. Smith received his BA from Stanford and attended UCLA School of Medicine. He trained in Psychiatry at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and has been board certified since 1978. He is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, a member of the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry and the American Academy of Psychoanalysis and Dynamic Psychiatry.

Neil Rattan

Neil Rattan is a clinical psychologist whose work with addictions and substance abuse spans more than 25 years and includes extensive experience with adults, adolescents, and families. He has taught psychology at the college and graduate school level and has given lectures on substance abuse and co-dependency to doctors, nurses and hospital administrators. He was Senior Psychologist on the inpatient substance abuse unit of Hall Brook Treatment Center in Westport, Connecticut for 5 years until managed care came in to carve the heart out of the treatment process. Dr. Rattan began developing his own highly successful addiction treatment model in 1987 while Executive Director of the Spring Valley Drug and Alcohol Treatment Center in Bridgeport, Connecticut, a model that has since proved highly successful. At the same time he partnered with Dr. Thomas Todd - nationally known pioneer in the treatment of adolescents and families - developing a treatment process that includes an extensive and intensive one-on-one, group and family therapeutic experience: his success rate over the past 20 years has been 100%. Dr. Rattan is owner of Connecticut Psychological Care, founded in 1991 to provide EAP assistance to medical firms. In addition he serves a s a partner of The Executive Group, a professional services firm founded in 1992 to improve organizational performance by insuring that the right people are in the right jobs. Neil is an activist for recovery in Connecticut and for ten years drove substance abuse task forces for Westport & Weston. He created the Westport Youth services organization to deal with teen problems of depression, mental health and relationships of kids to town and schools. He has been founder, board member, fund raiser, and program designer for numerous addiction focused community programs. It is his dream to build a residential treatment facility to deliver substance abuse treatment free from the restrictions of managed care using his extensive and intensive one-on-one, group therapeutic model. Dr. Rattan received his B.A. in Psychology from Case Western Reserve University, his MA in Psychology and Counseling from Assumption College and his Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology. He lives in Westport, Connecticut and is the father of two adult daughters. Neil is an avid sailor. He races at all levels and has won the National Offshore One Design. He sails on America's Cup B Boats from Maine to Florida. When he is not sailing he is working.

Robert Curry - President

Robert Curry has more than 26 years of personal and professional experience working with behavioral issues, substance abuse and addictions of all types. He created Turning Point For Leaders, LLC in 2007 with the goal of bringing together seasoned professionals with a similar passion for and dedication to helping businesses and their leaders address addiction issues. His goal is to position Turning Point For Leaders as the premier provider of coaching and consulting services for substance abuse and addiction recovery to leaders and their organizations. Robert's broad range of consulting and coaching skills and business perspective enable him to work in close partnership with corporate and professional leaders. His ability to help them see themselves as others see them has proven key to their recovery and personal development, often taking them beyond the highest expectations of themselves and of those in their organization. Robert's easy going, practical consulting and coaching style is coupled with a thorough knowledge of the recovery process, industry resources and how to bring them to bear appropriately in each unique situation. Robert founded Curry Associates, a professional services firm in 1997 to provide executive coaching. Prior to Curry Associates, Robert honed his coaching and leader recovery skills working for Right Management, Drake Beam Morin, and the Strickland Group with clients such as AOL Time Warner, Deloitte & Touche, Det Norske Veritas, GE, Motown Records, Rabo Bank, J.P. Morgan Chase, Neuberger Berman, Alleghany Teledyne and The Episcopal Church U.S.A. Robert has taught executive coaching, communications and team building at the graduate university level. He is a founding member of the Coaching Coalition of Greater New York. Having served in senior line and staff positions and as a consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers, BP-Amoco, J.P. Morgan Chase, and the Hong Kong Shanghai Banking Corporation, Robert has worked at every corporate level addressing challenging leadership issues. He also served in Vietnam with the United States Marine Corps. Robert holds a B.A. in Political Science and an M.B.A., in Finance from Columbia University. He has trained at The Betty Ford Institute, The Meadows, The Relational Life Institute, The Westchester Institute For Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy, Institute for Rational-Emotive Therapy, and Tavistock Institute for Group Relations. He is married with three adult daughters and lives in New Canaan, Connecticut where he enjoys family activities, amateur acting, travel and skiing.

Susan Owen-Langley

Susan Owen-Langley is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Susan has worked in the field of Employee Assistance Program (EAP) services her entire professional career. Susan specializes in coordinating all the client services required to address whatever the prevailing issues are for the members of the organizations she serves and their families. Her experience and expertise is extensive and includes substance abuse and other addictions, depression, anxiety, marriage and family issues, aging parents, workplace violence, stress management, work/life balance, grief intervention and counseling in response to the death of employees and/or family members. She also partners with executives and human resource directors coaching them on how to intervene with employees who have performance and/or personality problems. In 1977, as a student intern, she participated in starting and running the Employee Assistance Program for the International Ladies Garment Workers Union working with two of their local unions. In 1978 she joined a new EAP initiative at Pennsylvania Power and Light Company as one of the original counselors. In addition to opening new offices and providing services to employees and family members, she also provided training to managers and union leaders on how to recognize troubled employees and on effective intervention strategies. She provided services to PP&L until 1984. In 1984 Susan joined General Electric at their Bridgeport, Connecticut facility to start an EAP program for them. From there she started helping with EAP issues at GE Corporate Headquarters in Fairfield, Connecticut and also at GE-NBC. Susan's company Comprehensive Employee Services, LLC currently is under contract to GE Headquarters, and Synapse Group Inc., a division of Time Inc., as their EAP provider, and to CIGNA for Critical Incident Debriefing. She also provides services to individual clients such as substance abuse interventions, placement and follow-up. Susan did her undergraduate work at Skidmore College with a dual degree in Psychology and Social Work. She took her Masters at Columbia University School of Social Work with a concentration in Industrial Social Work. She is a member of the National Association of Social Workers.
