TRUTER JAMES DE RIDDER - Key Persons
Chris James retired from the company in 2013 as partner and is acting as consultant. He has represented farmers and banks in relation to agricultural farming finance for a number of years and has extensive experience of the sugar cane industry. As an admitted conveyancer and notary he has extensive dealings in farming transactions, including the subdivision of agricultural land involving interaction with land surveyors, the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Local Government and Traditional Affairs.
Clive Kelly has extensive experience in Magistrate and High Court litigation. He is considered one of the leading Land Reform practitioners in KwaZulu-Natal, although he is dealing with land claims on behalf of both claimants and land owners across the country.
As a result of Clive's work in this area and his interest in farming he has an extensive knowledge of legal issues involving the agricultural sector generally and his knowledge is not restricted to land reform alone. Clive serves on the Board of the Umhlathuze Valley Sugar Company, one of the region's largest sugar cane producers and is Chairman of Guzulu (Pty) Ltd, another sugar farming operation in Empangeni.
