Alissa E. Grady

Alissa E. Grady joined TKCK in 2012. At TKCK, Alissa joins the firm's Connecticut office concentrating on workers' compensation defense cases for insurers, employers, third party administrators and municipalities. Prior to joining TKCK, Alissa was an associate attorney at a Boston law firm focusing on insurance defense. While in law school, Alissa was employed as a law clerk at Lubin & Meyer, P.C., a plaintiff's medical malpractice firm in Boston. Additionally, she worked as a 3.03 certified intern at the Suffolk District Attorney's Office, as well as an intern with the Homicide Unit. Alissa is a graduate of State University of New York at Plattsburgh (B.A.) and New England School of Law (J.D.). Alissa is admitted to practice in Connecticut and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. She is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association, the Massachusetts Bar Association, and the American Bar Association.

Attorney Durant

Attorney Durant was a Partner at Kaufman & Durant since 1992, where he was the Senior Trial Attorney for a major insurer handling both Workers Compensation and Liability Litigation. Atty. Durant has tried both jury and jury waived cases in the District and Superior Court Departments and has argued successfully at the Appeals Court. He has also been Designated Counsel for several Large National Insureds and Self Insurers and has tried hundreds of Workers' Compensation cases. Mr. Durant has been an elected member of the Board of Selectman in his home town for over twenty seven years.

Brian Prindle

Brian joined TKCK in late September 2009, and he will handle Connecticut workers' compensation defense cases for insurers and employers. Since 1989, Brian has been a solo practitioner, concentrating solely on workers' compensation defense cases throughout the entire State of Connecticut for insurers, employers, third party administrators and municipalities. Brian is designated as a Board Certified Workers' Compensation Specialist, a distinguished certification issued by the CBA to those demonstrating competency, experience and skill in the workers' compensation arena. Brian is a current member of the Connecticut Bar Association (CBA), having served in the past as both Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Workers' Compensation Section of the CBA for many years. He is a frequent lecturer and contributor to the CBA and other organizations on workers' compensation issues.

Christopher Fiore

Christopher Fiore joined TKCK in October 2017 as a partner in our Providence office. He has over 20 years of experience handling workers' compensation, civil litigation, employment and labor claims on behalf of insurance companies and self-insureds. Chris has handled matters involving the defense of claims before the Rhode Island Workers' Compensation Court, the United States Department of Labor (Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation), the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the Rhode Island Commission for Human Rights. Chris is actively involved in the Rhode Island Bar Association, Defense Research Institute (DRI), the Defense Counsel of Rhode Island, the Rhode Island Workers' Compensation Bench Bar Committee, the American Bar Association, and the Claims and Litigation Management (CLM) Alliance. Chris is a frequent presenter on Workers' Compensation and Employment Law to insurance companies and self-insureds. He is an AV rated attorney by Martindale-Hubbell. Chris is admitted in Rhode Island and the United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island. Chris received his Juris Doctor from Syracuse University College of Law in 1991, and he received his undergraduate Bachelor of Arts, Cum Laude in 1986 from Providence College.

Clyde B. Kelton

Clyde B. Kelton, Jr. joined TKCK in January 2013 to handle workers' compensation cases in Massachusetts. He will be working statewide at the DIA Regional Offices. Clyde brings myriad experience to TKCK. From 1960 to 1964 he served as an Airborne Crew Member in the U.S. Air Force in Germany, and from 1970 to 1980 he was a Deputy Clerk of the U.S. District Court in Boston serving as the Courtroom Session Clerk to Chief Judge Andrew Caffrey. From 1980 to 2003 Clyde was a Staff Attorney for Liberty Mutual, handling hundreds of workers' compensation cases at the Hearing and Review Board level. He retired from Liberty Mutual in 2003 and began working with the Law Office of Martin Schneider, representing multiple insurers and self-insurers in the defense of workers' compensation claims until 2012. Clyde is a graduate of Suffolk University and Suffolk University Law School and has been an MCLE panelist on workers' compensation issues. He is admitted to the Mass Bar as well as the U.S. District Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.

Courtney Manchester

Courtney Manchester joined TKCK as a partner in September 2020. Prior to joining TKCK, Courtney was a partner at Higgins, Cavanagh & Cooney, LLP, in Providence, Rhode Island. Courtney is a graduate of Wesleyan University (2001) and Boston University School of Law (2005). She has focused her practice on representing employers and insurers in all phases of Workers' Compensation litigation, appearing before the Rhode Island Workers' Compensation Court and the Massachusetts Department of Industrial Accidents. In addition, she has litigated hundreds of matters in the Rhode Island Family Court and the Rhode Island Superior Court, including a class action lawsuit. She is also a certified mediator in the State of Rhode Island. Courtney has conducted Workers' Compensation seminars for in-house legal training and for the National Business Institute (NBI). She is a member of the Rhode Island Workers' Compensation Bench Bar Committee, the Defense Counsel of Rhode Island (DCRI), and the Edward P. Gallogly Family Law Inn of Court.

Daniel B. Brunk

Daniel B. Brunk joined TKCK in November 2020. Dan's practice at TKCK includes workers' compensation under Massachusetts and Federal acts, including the Longshore and Harbor Workers Compensation Act, and general business law. Dan brings diverse experience to the firm, having practiced civil litigation in New York, including premises liability, insurance coverage, construction litigation and labor law, commercial litigation, and mass tort litigation. Immediately prior to joining the firm, Dan worked in legal and compliance management roles as an expatriate in the United Kingdom, focusing on risk management, financial services risk consulting, and regulatory compliance at Fortune 500 companies within the Financial Services industry. Dan earned a Bachelor of Music Education from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University and his Juris Doctor from New England School of Law in 2007. Dan is admitted to practice law in Massachusetts, New York, District of Columbia, the Southern and Eastern Federal District Courts of New York, the Federal District Court of Massachusetts, and the United States Supreme Court. Dan is also a qualified solicitor in England and Wales. In addition to his legal practice, Dan is an avid musician and afficionado of all things Italian.

Erika G. Soong joined TKCK in 2005. Previously, she worked as a civil litigation attorney. James M. O'Sullivan

Jim previously worked for Devine Millimet in Manchester NH, Liberty Mutual Insurance Company and Wausau Insurance Company. Jim has over 30 years' experience in defending thousands of workers' compensation cases before Hearing Officers, Administrative Judges and the Supreme Courts in those jurisdictions. Jim's depth and breadth of knowledge of the workers' compensation laws in the states he has practiced is unparalleled. Jim was the past chair of the Workers' Compensation Section of the New Hampshire Bar Association. Jim graduated from Suffolk University Law School with his Juris Doctor in 1979, and from Bates College with a Bachelor of Arts in 1976.

James T. Hornstein

James T. Hornstein Jr. joined TKCK in December of 2023 as an Associate. Prior to joining TKCK, James spent three years representing plaintiff and employee interests in all aspects of personal injury law. In addition, he handled workers' compensation matters before the Massachusetts Department of Industrial Accidents and the Rhode Island Workers' Compensation Court. He also practiced family and criminal law for firms in both Massachusetts and Rhode Island. James' focus is on Rhode Island workers' compensation matters. James graduated from Wake Forest University with a BA in English and minors in Creative Writing and in Global Trade and Commerce. James then graduated from Marquette University Law School and was subsequently admitted into the Wisconsin Bar. James proceeded to clerk for the Honorable Debra Olsson of the Rhode Island Workers' Compensation Appellate Division. James is admitted in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, as well as in Wisconsin. James T. Hornstein has been representing employers and insurers for 31 years, most recently as the Managing Partner in the Workers' Compensation Practice Group at Higgins, Cavanagh and Cooney (HCC) in Providence, RI from 1999 until 2020. He has represented employers and insurers in the Rhode Island Workers' Compensation Court, the Massachusetts Department of Industrial Accidents and the United States Department of Labor for claims brought under the Long Shore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act. He has tried hundreds of cases involving work-place injuries including traumatic injuries, occupational disease claims, dependency death benefit claims and apportionment claims. He was trial counsel in Furia v. Ajax Construction where he represented the employer which resulted in a precedent setting case of insurer responsibility when the court affixed liability based on premium paid irrespective of where the claim was filed. He is the co-author of the text "A Practical Guide to Workers' Compensation in Rhode Island". He is AV rated.

JoAnn D. Walter

JoAnn D. Walter joined TKCK in March 2009. JoAnn has over 14 years of extensive litigation experience in workers' compensation and disability issues. JoAnn is a former partner at Keches Law Group (formerly Keches & Mallen), having worked there for 11 years. Previously, she was in-house counsel for Travelers. JoAnn is a former co-chairperson of the Massachusetts Bar Association Workers' Compensation Committee, and a frequent speaker and contributor to the Massachusetts CLE on workers' compensation issues. JoAnn is admitted in both Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

Joseph J. Durant joined TKCK as Counsel in 2007. Joe received a B.A. degree in History & Political Science cum laude from Boston College in 1977 and earned his Juris Doctor from Suffolk University Law School in 1980. He is a graduate of the National Institute of Trial Advocacy Teacher Training Program at Harvard University and repeatedly served on the faculty of Liberty Mutual Insurance Company's Advanced Advocacy, Workers' Compensation, SIU, and Subrogation training seminars. He has lectured in evidence and criminal law at Boston State College and the University of Massachusetts Boston. He has served on the faculty of the Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education Workers Compensation "Day with the Experts" seminar for the last 5 years. Joe has many years of experience as SIU counsel, in which he successfully recouped losses incurred in insurance fraud cases, and also participated in the criminal prosecution of the perpetrators.

Karen earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Eastern Michigan University in 1989, and her Juris Doctor from Michigan State University in 1993. She moved to the Boston area, and worked in private practice handling civil RICO litigation, securities fraud, and EEOC complaints. She then served as in-house counsel for Liberty Mutual for seven years, and, most recently, as in-house counsel for Beacon Mutual Insurance Company. Karen served as the co-chair of the Rhode Island Workers' Compensation Bench Bar for three years, and has conducted numerous in-house Workers' Compensation legal training symposiums. Karen currently volunteers with the YES-RI program which teaches young workers about the Rhode Island workers' compensation system and work place safety. Karen has recently been appointed an adjunct professor at the Roger Williams School of Law to teach Rhode Island Workers' Compensation.

Mark was an account representative for CIGNA Insurance Company from 1991 to 1995. He was a senior outside claims representative for Commercial Union Insurance Company from 1987 to 1991. As a claims adjuster for many years, Mark handled workers' compensation, auto bodily injury, uninsured and underinsured motorists, general liability, and property claims. Mark received a Juris Doctor from New England School of Law in 1994. Mark received a B.A. in economics from Boston College in 1984.

Matthew A. Slater is a Partner in the firm and the Director of the firm's Tort Litigation and Employment Practice Group. Michael P. McCoy

Michael P. McCoy joined TKCK in July 2018. He is a Graduate cum laude of Stonehill College and Suffolk University Law School. For over nineteen years he has litigated high exposure complex workers' compensation matters in Massachusetts. He has represented numerous insurers, self-insureds and TPA's in all aspects of litigation at the Department of Industrial Accidents. Mr. McCoy has provided legal advice in workers' compensation matters and defended many cases in his career for health care providers, nursing home facilities, Fortune 500 companies and major construction companies. Over his career, Mr. McCoy has litigated many complex medical related matters ranging from toxic chemical exposure, post-traumatic stress disorder, psychological and catastrophic workplace injuries. Patrick T. Battersby Jr.

Patrick T. Battersby Jr. joined TKCK in September 2018 to defend Connecticut workers' compensation cases. Prior to joining TKCK, he was employed by a small Connecticut based insurance defense firm where his practice consisted solely of representing employers, self-insureds, and insurance carriers in workers' compensation claims. Peggy Ohliger

Peggy joined Parker, Coulter, Daley & White in 1973 working for Paul Kelly, and stayed with the group until 1995 when she joined Peabody & Arnold. Peggy was named Business Administrator to the newly-formed TKCK in 2000.

Peter M. LoVerme

Peter M. LoVerme lives in Glastonbury, Connecticut and manages TKCK's Connecticut practice. Attorney LoVerme is a partner at TKCK and opened the firm's dedicated Connecticut practice in 2011. Attorney LoVerme focuses on the defense of workers' compensation matters and has handled cases at all levels including The Connecticut Appellate Court and Supreme Court. Attorney LoVerme has spoken at various seminars throughout New England on issues associated with workers' compensation, risk management, and risk containment. He has provided training and counseling to employers, insurers, and third-party administrators throughout the country on claim handling, compliance, and reporting requirements. He has also been named to Super Lawyer's peer nominated list of Rising Stars in Connecticut. Peter graduated from Fairfield University in 2004 with a pre-med concentration and a B.A. in Philosophy. Phillip Ronan

He was previously an associate attorney for TKCK from 2004 through 2014. Attorney Ronan returns to TKCK from the Trust Fund of the Department of Industrial Accidents where he served as Assistant General Counsel handling Section 65 uninsured employer claims and Section 37 Second Injury Fund Cases. Phil has 15 years of workers' compensation litigation experience. He has represented numerous insurers, self-insureds and TPA's in all aspects of litigation at the Department of Industrial Accidents. He is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst (B.A. 1999, cum laude) and Suffolk University Law School (J.D. 2004). Phil is admitted to practice in Massachusetts.

Ralph DiMeo

Ralph DiMeo joined TKCK in 2008. Prior to joining the firm, he worked as a Trial Attorney for Zurich-American Insurance Company from 2007 to 2008 specializing in workers' compensation. Previously, he worked as a civil litigation attorney, as well as doing work in the workers' compensation and social security fields. Ralph was also involved in a program at Suffolk University Law School in which he worked for the criminal defender's clinic representing various clients in the criminal court system. Ralph is a graduate of Tufts University and earned his B.A. in Psychology in 1996. He received his Juris Doctor Magna Cum Laude from Suffolk University Law School in 2003. Richard Florino

Attorney Richard J. Florino, Jr. joined TKCK in November 2010. Richard previously worked in-house for Zurich Insurance Group (Kenner, Engelberg, Bratcher and Whalen) as a Senior Trial Attorney from 2003 to 2010, wherein he handled complex workers' compensation cases. Previous, he worked as staff counsel for Sentry Insurance Group and CNA Insurance Company. He brings over 30 years of experience in workers' compensation, tort, 93A and insurance coverage, and is admitted in both New Hampshire and Massachusetts.

Robert Riccio

Robert Riccio joined TKCK in July 2019. He has over 20 years of experience in Workers' Compensation defense litigation on behalf of insurers, self insurers and municipalities. He has argued cases at the appellate level in front of the Reviewing Board of the DIA and the Massachusetts Court of Appeals. Attorney Riccio is a 1991 graduate of Tufts University with a Bachelor of Arts double major in History and Political Science. He then received his Juris Doctor from Western New England School of Law in 1995. He is admitted to the Massachusetts Bar.

Robert S. Martin

Robert S. Martin joined Tentindo, Kendall, Canniff & Keefe, LLP as an associate attorney in 2014. Robert is admitted in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. He handles all aspects of workers' compensation insurance defense. Robert is the manager of TKCK's appellate practice group for all New England states, and has successfully argued cases before the Massachusetts Department of Industrial Accidents Reviewing Board, the Massachusetts Appeals Court, and the New Hampshire Supreme Court. Prior to joining the firm as an attorney, Robert served as a law clerk for TKCK from 2012-2014. Robert is a graduate of Trinity College (B.A. 2011) and New England Law | Boston (J.D. 2014). Robert served as an editor of the New England Law Review while attending law school. Robert was also a contributory author of a chapter for the LexisNexis Practice Guide: Massachusetts Workers' Compensation on attorney's fees, penalties, recoupment, fraud, enforcement, withdrawal of representation and third-party settlements.

Sara joined TKCK as an associate attorney in 2018. Sara primarily handles workers' compensation cases. Prior to coming to TKCK, she worked at Travelers Insurance as an Investigative Case Manager and frequently represented Travelers at conciliations at the DIA. She also worked as an associate at a RI firm specializing in corporate law. Sara graduated from Roger Williams School of Law, magna cum laude, with her Juris Doctor in 2009, and from Clark University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts in History, summa cum laude, in 2000 and a Master of Arts in History in 2001. Attorney Harvey was a contributing author for the Lexis Nexis Practice Guide: Massachusetts Workers' Compensation on hearing and appeal procedures. Steven J. Bolognese

Steven J. Bolognese joined TKCK in 2007. Prior to joining the firm, he held various leadership positions in industry including managing customer service, operational and human resource departments for both US Airways and United Airlines. Steve's practice areas include workers' compensation under Massachusetts and Federal acts including the Longshore and Harbor Workers Compensation Act, and employment law. He has an active interest in aviation law, including extensive business and management experience and is a licensed pilot. Susan F. Kendall was formerly a partner at Peabody & Arnold LLP from 1995 to 2000. Susan previously worked at Parker, Coulter, Daley & White, a firm specializing in litigation for the business and insurance industry, as an associate beginning in 1981 and Partner from 1987 to 1995. She is admitted to the bar in Massachusetts, the Federal District Court in Massachusetts, 1st Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. Susan's practice areas include Workers' Compensation, Social Security, Long Term Disability benefits and related issues, such as FMLA, ADA, and Medicare set aside issues. She is active with the MCLE in regards to workers' compensation & social security disability and has lectured on social security disability benefits, ADA, FMLA and Workers' Compensation to various insurers, employers, lawyers

Thomas M. Wielgus

Thomas M. Wielgus began working for TKCK in June 2011. Prior to joining the firm, Tom worked from 1998-2011 as an Assistant General Counsel, Special Assistant Attorney General and Manager of Civil Litigation for the Department of Industrial Accidents Workers' Compensation Trust Fund, specializing in workers' compensation and civil litigation. Tom has extensive experience in workers' compensation litigation including insurance coverage, second injury petitions and latency injuries. In addition, Tom's appellate experience before the Reviewing Board and Massachusetts Appeals Court have resulted in several published appellate victories including Zangao v MB Seafood and Dearmon's Case, both of which were cited in Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly's annual issue of "Most Important Opinions". Prior to coming to TKCK, Tom worked in antitrust law in the Washington, DC area focusing on DOJ and FTC regulatory compliance. He also served as Legal Fellow for the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Education and the Workforce where he specialized in labor and employment legislation. Tom earned his BS Degree in Business Administration from Western New England University in 1989 and his Juris Doctor from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School in 1995. He is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and the District of Columbia.
