Twisted Diesel was created by Rave Brown. Rave was an employee at the Norfolk Assembly division of Ford Motor Company. When Rave learned of the impending closure of the plant, the wheels started turning in his head about what to do next. He had always had a passion for working on diesel pick-up trucks and the only diesel repair and performance shops around were dealerships. So Rave decided to open his own shop and the hunt for a name began. He was hanging with his brother Mark and Mark was drinking a "Twisted Tea". The light bulb went off and thus the shop had a name. Twisted Diesel started in a 1 bay shop down by the Virginia Beach oceanfront.
Two years later, Ronny Preston and Tony Brown (Rave's dad) bought into the business. Tony and Ronny were also laid off from the Ford Plant and Rave's growing business needed partners. Tony had an extensive background in transmissions and truck repair. Ronny brought the skills of organization, accounting, creativity and marketing. The owners started clicking together and decided they had something big so they trademarked the name and started looking for a larger shop. Although the new shop had two bays, it still wasn't big enough for the business, but they made it work with the help of great employees; some of them working outside when weather permitted.
