Angela Waggoner

Angie Waggoner is an Operations Specialist who executes trades for client investment accounts. She does all the work associated with opening new accounts and maintains close relationships with brokerage companies. Before joining Meridian Trust in 1998, Angie had already amassed over 14 years of experience working for National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) brokerage firms. She is an avid animal lover and has enjoyed riding, training, and showing Appaloosa and Quarter horses for decades. She shares her home with two beloved Australian Shepherd dogs and also enjoys spending time with her stepdaughter and family, who reside in Nashville. Angie has over 34 years of experience in investment trading, 20 of which she has shared with Meridian. Education: • Associates degree in Business

Janet Kannady

Job Titles:
  • Meridian 's Vice President of Operations
Janet Kannady served as Meridian's Vice President of Operations for over 25 years (since our inception!) before departing Meridian at the start of 2023. Over the years in her supervisory role, Janet overlooked countless distributions to clients, thousands of new account establishments, and innumerable reconciliations. She was the encyclopedia of knowledge behind our prior portfolio management system. Janet is the proud mother of two sons and grandmother to seven grandchildren. She has participated in several half-marathons and 5Ks. She also enjoys exercising, hiking, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Jenell Shaddix

Job Titles:

Jenell is a senior in the Operations department. Her roles include coordinating the daily workflow, reviewing daily activity for accuracy, and reconciling bank accounts. She also processes all stock and mutual fund reorganizations, coordinates the monthly reconciliation of assets held at brokerage firms, and compiles pricing for all assets.

Karan Wilson

Karan is an Operations Specialist who has been with Meridian since its inception in 1997. Her primary activities include the daily accounting of investment records, reviewing data gathered from external brokers, and reconciling accounts at the end of each quarter. Born in Monroe County, Karan has found her permanent home there and loves the area for its many lakes and mountains. She takes advantage of her surroundings by participating in outdoor activities such as biking, gardening, and bird watching. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with family, including her ten four-legged dependents of the canine and feline nature. Education: • ABS in Computer Programming from Draughons Junior College

Renée Maggart

Renée Maggart serves as Meridian Trust's Vice President of Operations. She supervises distributions to clients, the establishment of new accounts, account reconciliations and activity, and asset transfers. Further responsibilities include coordinating with client service teams and creating specialized reports for both internal and external use. In addition to her daily operational work, Renée is Meridian's principal content creator and can be found coordinating special tasks and projects as needed within all areas of the firm. Renée loves her hometown of Knoxville for its seasons and vicinity to family. She enjoyed a brief stint away from home during her undergraduate years in Nashville, during which time she attended Vanderbilt University as a member of the women's track and field team. Nowadays she can be found around town attending singer-songwriter open mics and playing in adult recreational sports leagues. Her favorite role is that of mother to her son Angelo, with whom she loves to play board games and skateboard. Renée began her career by interning at Meridian during college. She has been with Meridian full-time since 2016, first in 401(k) Planning, then transitioning to Operations in 2021. She is successor to Janet Kannady, who paved the way by leading Meridian's Operations in outstanding fashion for over 25 years. Vickie Elam

Vickie Elam is an Operations Specialist at Meridian. She is primarily responsible for personal trust accounting and reporting but also provides operational support in many other areas. Due to her residency at the front desk, she is the first smiling face you will see when visiting Meridian. Before finding her home at Meridian, Vickie worked at Valley Fidelity Bank, the Trust Company of Knoxville, Home Federal Bank, and SunTrust Bank for a combined 24 years. Vickie is happily married to Todd and together they have two beautiful daughters, Devyn and Kailyn. She enjoys many activities with family and friends, including camping, gardening, reading, listening to live music, and following Tennessee football. Vickie has over 43 years of experience in the financial services industry, 19 of which she has shared with Meridian.
