Ubushina is synonymous with the ancient Japanese word ubusuna, indicating one's identity, a place where something or someone was born. The abundant nature of Japan has helped nurture a diverse range of techniques, from lacquer work to bamboo crafts, that are rooted in each region, taking advantage of local materials and climate. Since 2003, Ubushina has been producing interiors, architecture and art in a new context, incorporating these craft techniques and uniting the aesthetics of creators with the skills of artisans. Tradition is based on preserving and breaking the kata (patterns) established by our predecessors, eventually detaching from them and innovating to create new kata.
