I was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and grew up as an army brat moving around Canada and Europe. I earned a bachelor's degree in Mathematics from the University of Waterloo and began a career with General Motors 40 years ago as a Co-Op student at the GM Canada Headquarters. Most recently, I served as the General Director of GM's Labor Relations Operations and as the Director of Manufacturing Strategy and Planning of GM in Europe. Prior to my International assignment, I was the Plant Director for Orion Assembly and Pontiac Stamping. I have held many Leadership roles in Manufacturing in Canada and in the United States including Staff positions in the Oshawa, Flint, and Fort Wayne Truck Assembly Plants. I also held a Staff position in Warren as the Shop Director for North America for General Assembly. I am married to Fiona and we have five millennial-aged children living between Toronto and Chicago; Jason, Courtney, Brittany, James, and Laura, and two granddaughters Mirabelle and Corinne, and a third grandchild on the way. When not at work, I enjoy travelling, being an active sports enthusiast, tinkering as a mechanical tradesman about the house, and, more recently, exploring genealogy.
