Barry Davidson

Job Titles:
  • General Manager, R.P.F, B.Sc.F & M.Sc.F
Barry is FMP author, guiding the planning and silvicultural programs at Westwind since 1998. He previously worked as a Forester and Project Forester for the Vegetation Management Alternatives Program for MNRF and as the Program Manager for the Forest Biodiversity Program for Wildlife Habitat Canada.

Javier Cappella

Javier joined Westwind in the spring of 2017 after completing a Masters degree at the University of British Columbia's Faculty of Forestry. Javier works both in the field and office conducting silviculture effectiveness monitoring, forest operations prescriptions and as part of the forest management planning team. He has held positions as a forestry technician and forest manager working on federal, crown and municipal lands in both British Columbia and Ontario. Javier is a Registered Professional Forester (R.P.F.), Certified Ontario Tree Marker L1, ISA Certified Arborist, and holds a Scaling licence.

Jim Coleman

  • Mayor, South River
Jim Coleman is a community director on the Westwind Board of Directors. He is a retired educator after 35 years with BA and Masters Degrees. He has been involved with local politics in South River for over 25 years and is completing his third recent term as Mayor . He is also a member of the Central Almaguin Planning Board and the Eastholme Board of Management. Jim has many outdoor interests including skiing, fishing, hunting, canoeing, gardening, geology, archeology, art and woodcarving. Jim has an Ontario Registered Trapping Zone in Laurier Township. He believes that our District Crown Forest has a major impact on our local economy and is strongly committed to its sustainability .

Joe Johnson

  • Independent Operator Representative
Joe has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Forestry from Lakehead University. He worked at the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry for 35 years. Joe is also from the local area and was a councilor for McDougall Township for 11 years.

John McNutt

Job Titles:
  • Woodlands Manager, Goulard Lumber ( 1971 ) Ltd., M.Sc. for., R.P.F
John is a professional forester who is the Woodlands Manager for Goulard Lumber (1971) Ltd., a manufacturer of quality red and white pine lumber located in Sturgeon Falls. He is responsible for the safe and cost-effective supply of logs to the company's mill, and he contributes to the management and governance of the companies that hold the Sustainable Forest Licenses on the areas where Goulard holds harvest allocations.

Louise Montague

Job Titles:
  • Retired Banking Executive
Louise is a retired banking executive with years of experience in finance, sales and customer value creation. She served on the Westwind Board starting in 2008 and was a fantastic Chair from January 2013 to June 2019.

Malcolm Cockwell

Job Titles:
  • Managing Director of Haliburton Forest
Malcolm Cockwell is the Managing Director of Haliburton Forest, a multi-use private land stewardship company recognized for sustainable forest management, which operates the Haliburton Forest Sawmill, Almaguin Forest Products, and Huntsville Forest Products. He is a Registered Professional Forester (RPF) and serves as a Director of the Ontario Forest Industries Association. Malcolm also serves as Chair of Acadian Timber Corp. He holds a B.Sc. in Forestry from the University of Toronto, and is a PhD candidate at the same institution's Faculty of Forestry.

Margaret Cupper Scott

Margaret started at Westwind in the winter of 2017 after completing the Master of Forest Conservation program at the University of Toronto. Margaret is a Registered Professional Forester (R.P.F.).

Mike Slater

Job Titles:
  • Technician
Mike joined Westwind in the fall of 2018. He is passionate about sustainable forestry and has previously worked in operations, silviculture effectiveness monitoring & tree marking among other things with Algonquin Forestry Authority and MNRF. Mike is a certified Forest Operations Compliance Inspector, Level 1 Tree Marker, SO-iSTARS Forest Regeneration Surveyor and holds a Scaler's Licence & Forestry Exterminator Licence.

Rob Keen

Job Titles:
  • Westwind Board Chair and CEO, Forests Ontario
Rob Keen, RPF, is the CEO of Forests Ontario. Rob's 30+ years of experience includes developing forest management plans, feasibility studies, forest audits, and providing forestry services to landowners. Rob is a former Director of Maple Leaves Forever and the Algonquin Forestry Authority.

Susan Jarvis

Susan is a professional forester with over 35 years' forestry experience ranging from forest industry, provincial government, auditing, professional regulation and Crown land forest management consulting. Susan enjoys living near Kearney, in the eastern part of Westwind's French-Severn Forest.

Tom Clark

Job Titles:
  • Consulting Ecologist
Tom was the founding Chair of Westwind. He rejoined the Board in 2009. His work focuses on forest management auditing in Canada and the U.S. Tom is a co-author of "Diversity: Forests, People, Communities, the framework for developing public forest policy in Ontario", and one of the foundations of the Crown Forest Sustainability Act. He was on MNRF Deputy Minister's Provincial Forest Policy Committee for 17 years.
