Walter Hopkins and Company, LLP was established in 1927 by our founder, Mr. Walter Hopkins, who was a native of Newfoundland. He came to the United States as a young man and first settled in West Virginia. There he was employed as an accountant for several estates with timber interests in the state. A few years later, he moved to Clearfield, Pennsylvania where he opened his practice as a public accountant, first as a proprietor and later as a partnership. He continued to practice until his death in 1984 at age 94... Our firm has grown from those early beginnings until today. We currently have a total staff of 16 people, which includes 4 active partners and 1 retired partner practicing in two offices; Clearfield and Philipsburg, Pennsylvania. Our firm is a member of the PICPA and the AICPA Division of Firms.
