WOODLANDS TEST PREP - Key Persons

Adel Rakha

My name is Adel Rakha. I am a mechanical engineer with a degree in mechanical engineering from Alexandria University and a degree in mechanical engineering technology from Indiana State University. Being an engineer, I love math and physics! Since high school, I have helped many friends and students with math and physics. When I graduated in 2001, I continued helping and tutoring others in math and physics, while working towards my engineering license. My best moments are when I have someone who is failing a class, and we work together for a few weeks, and then he or she changes to become an excellent student. Math is a treat and can be a treat for everyone. I have been tutoring since 2001 part time, and in 2020, I shifted careers and became a certified full-time teacher at Waltrip High School in Houston. I love it and wish I did that long time ago! At Waltrip, I teach engineering and STAAR math review. I also help with our school robotics team, the Rambotics! My name is Adel Rakha. Karen Scamman

Hi, my name is Karen Scamman! I grew up between California and England, settling in Texas in 2016. I've been helping students reach their SAT, ACT, and LSAT goals for 8 years and tutoring for 10. I have thousands of hours of experience! I've worked with students of all ages, from elementary school to postgraduate students and have experience with many styles of learning, including students with ADHD and autistic students. I take an individualised approach with all of my students and believe that collaborative lessons are the key to success. I find it especially rewarding when I can help a student reach an "aha!" moment on a concept they've been struggling with. My goal is to help my students gain confidence, reduce test anxiety, and reach all their test score dreams. I attended the honors program at Eleanor Roosevelt College at UC San Diego and studied sociology both there and at the University of Houston. I find people fascinating, so I particularly enjoyed learning about how theories on human behavior and interaction have changed over time as more and different information became available for researchers and theorists to study. In my free time I like to read, play video games, and write short stories. I am particularly fond of reinventing fairytales, like combining Little Red Riding Hood with the Little Mermaid! Will Bonney

  • Test Prep Tutor
My name is Will Bonney. I graduated in 2016 from Colby College in Maine with degrees in Psychology and Theater, with a particular focus on learning, memory, and cognition. I worked at a summer camp, Camp O-AT-KA, for over 5 years. I ran and coordinated cabins of boys ranging in age from 10 all the way up to 16. I also headed up, at various points, the rock climbing and track activities, and taught a variety of other skills and crafts. The SAT and ACT are, at their heart, fascinating games, and there is nothing I love more than diving deep into a game with someone and helping them discover both their weaknesses and the strategies with which to overcome them. I was a National Merit Scholar, and regularly take the SAT and ACT every year to stay current. Over the past several years, my average scores have been a 1580 on the SAT and a 35 on the ACT. Whether you need a sci-fi book recommendation, want a fun fact about 16th century London theater, want to hear about summiting Mount Kilimanjaro, or just need to learn how to never lose at Tic-Tac-Toe, I'm full of odd knowledge, so ask away!
