We maintain the herd, do the milking, make and market the products. We operate under a basic fundamental goal to always produce a product that we would want to purchase ourselves and to produce a healthy alternative for our customers... We have an aggressive herd health management program that includes frequent stall and pen cleaning as we believe that if the animals are kept healthy then they won't need to be medicated. We also practice farm biosecurity in order to prevent the spread of diseases onto our farm. This is an effort to keep antibiotics and chemical wormers from being used on our animals... In May of 2010 we spent a few days on a small goat dairy in Maine and learned a little about operating a home goat dairy. That experience is what started the spark that set us on fire to undertake this Goliath of a task.
