Adam joined the firm's Minneapolis office in 2011 as a Case Clerk, before quickly transitioning to a paralegal. He primarily works with the Securities and Antitrust Litigation team, but also assists on projects throughout all practice areas, with responsibilities covering a full range of areas and team support. Adam's degree in both Business Administration and Economics make him no stranger to time management, research, and administrative responsibilities. He is frequently brought on to handle additional responsibilities including assisting with discovery preparation and review, new case investigations, and technology support. When we have a computer issue, Adam is sure to take a crack at getting things back to running smoothly, serving as our honorary IT specialist. Adam attended the University of Minnesota, Morris and earned his Bachelor's Degree in 2009. Away from the office, he enjoys cheering his nephew on at youth baseball games and spends his free time playing games, being active outdoors, and training for road races.

Anna is a member of the firm's Public Client practice. Her practice focuses on representing state attorneys general and public entities in complex litigation involving consumer protection, securities and financial fraud, and antitrust law in state and federal courts. Prior to joining Zimmerman Reed, Anna served as an Assistant Attorney General at the Minnesota Attorney General's Office. In that position, Anna worked on a wide variety of regulatory, administrative, and civil issues. She represented the State of Minnesota in tort and employment litigation at both the trial and appellate levels. She also advised the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission and represented the Commission on appeal. An accomplished advocate, Anna's impactful representations of clients throughout the stages of complex multi-party litigation and appeals has earned her the respect of the courts where she appears and the colleagues with whom she works.

Barb J. Doten

If you've called Zimmerman Reed, chances are you've talked to Barb Doten - our resident intake specialist for our drug and medical device cases. She has been with Zimmerman Reed for more than 15 years. Barb touches base with just about all of our current and prospective clients injured by a faulty device or prescription drug and serves as their main contact while we handle the intake for any potential claim. With Barb, you are never talking to a complete stranger; her knowledge and compassion put our current and prospective clients at ease while they share personal stories of their experiences. Her degree in Social Work from Bethel University has helped her act as a support system for clients who have experienced a traumatic medical incident, significant financial burdens, or even the loss of a family member. Barb is known around the office as an integral part of the Zimmerman Reed team, known for her sincere empathy for the challenges that others experience in their lives. The connections she makes with clients and colleagues are invaluable. Barb's compassion for others doesn't stop at the end of her workday. She is currently involved in a mentoring program for young mothers, encouraging them as they go through a new stage of life and sharing her own personal experiences. Derek earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies from Hamline University, with an emphasis in public relations and video production. His past marketing experiences have been helping multiple engineering firms, a health care system, and a national youth wrestling camp with their external communication through social media and website management. As a self-described renaissance man, Derek is knowledgeable on topics such as jazz, film, pop culture history, and cooking. He fills his free time with magic, intrigue, and general handsomeness.

Erin Hartman is your first point of contact at the ZR-Minneapolis office. Her bright smile (in person) and positive energy (in person and on the phone) make everyone feel welcome when calling or entering the office. Prompt and friendly, Erin is always on the ready to help with new tasks. She brings several years of law firm and administrative experience to Zimmerman Reed. In addition to managing the main switchboard and greeting visitors, Erin works on projects with the partners, monitors and communicates schedules, coordinates meetings and depositions, and oversees the onsite facility. Heidi joined the firm's Minneapolis office in 2010 as a paralegal intern and has moved her way through the ranks to paralegal, assisting the attorneys in cases involving Wage & Hour and Consumer Protection. Maintaining client contact and case files fill a large part of Heidi's day-to-day activities, and her energy and dedication are known by all who encounter her. Heidi is often the lead paralegal working on the Security Breach cases, assisting attorneys as they represent banks and other financial institutions affected by the data security breaches. She also supports the attorneys with client contact, case updates, and file oversight for other consumer protection matters. Heidi played a significant role in the legal team that successfully challenged FedEx's independent contractor model, assisting attorneys as they represented 141 Illinois drivers in a lawsuit brought under federal and Illinois wage and hour laws. Her optimism and go-getter attitude make her a valuable addition to the firm and deserving recipient of the ZR Star award. Julianne is a senior paralegal who has been part of ZR-Minneapolis since 1989. In her more than thirty years of dedication to Zimmerman Reed, she has touched just about every practice area in the firm. From Antitrust, Drug and Device, Healthcare, Consumer, and Public Client, Julianne has a comprehensive understanding of the legal field and can be brought on to assist with a variety of case related projects. Julianne played a major supporting role in the LCD litigation, a case that made its way through five different courts, requiring different practice rules, up to the U.S. Supreme Court which yielded a successful outcome in favor of the State of Mississippi. She is currently part of the firm's Public Client and AG practice and takes an active role in the firm's opioid cases, representing two states in their investigation of and litigation against entities responsible for the deceptive marketing and sale of opioids. Julianne is an honors graduate of the Chippewa Valley Technical College in Eau Claire, WI, with an A.A. in the Paralegal program. An avid runner, Julianne has participated in numerous marathons including Boston, Twin Cities, and Grandma's, and completed her first Ironman at Ironman-Wisconsin. Karen is a senior, certified paralegal at our Minneapolis office, assisting attorneys in a variety of cases but concentrating most of her time on securities fraud litigation. She has dedicated 12 years to Zimmerman Reed and is an integral part of the team representing clients affected by the impacts of financial fraud. She was a part of the trial team that helped to achieve a $62.5 million settlement for the City of Farmington Hills' pension fund; an amount among the largest recoveries achieved in a securities lending class action. Currently Karen is responsible for high level research, drafting and administering court filings and discovery, and managing deadlines for Public Client and Securities Fraud matters. She also oversees state and federal procedural requirements and rules to ensure compliance for court submissions across all practice areas. After receiving a B.A. in English and Psychology from Gustavus Adolphus College, Karen earned a Paralegal Certificate from the Minnesota Paralegal Institute. Petters Ponzi

Petters Ponzi Scheme Litigation: Represented more than one hundred faith-based not-for-profit organizations pro bono related to their losses from the $3.6 billion Petters Ponzi scheme. Carolyn was appointed by the federal judge to serve as Assistant Liquidating Trustee under the supervision of the Court and the Liquidating Trustee for assets being distributed to some of those investors. The Firm worked with the Department of Justice and the court-appointed receiver to successfully recover and distribute millions of dollars to these victims pursuant to a settlement with Petters' financier, Frank Vennes.
